The internet informs me that I have to take the nearest book, turn to page 45, and the first sentence explains my lovelife.

I think this proves most members here have very strange sex lives.

This is so very surprising.

"Adventurers are extraordinary people, driven by a thirst for excitement into a life that others would never dare lead."

Seriously, p.45, new edition D&D Player's Handbook. I think my 'thirst for excitement' ended after her husband found out.

Incidentally as a painful aside, my lower back just locked up harder than concrete for the first time in its life ... how exactly do you deal with this immobilizing, asinine state of affai--ah, jesus

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

Well, to be fair, if Gandalf led the way..  doesn't that mean you should be looking for Galadriel or Cate Blanchett?

Quote
“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

-Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>>
Quote

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

My first reaction to this thread is that it would've worked better for me before my office was broken into its components and scattered throughout the house to make room for the nursery.  Now, with the PC in the basement, there isn't much in the way of books down here.

But there is a shelf of old RPG manuals over in the corner.  Where the closest book is the 1st Ed. AD&D Monster Manual.  Thus, I give you:

There is a 50% probability that they will have from 1-6 winter wolves in their lair as watchdogs.

Couldn't have turned out better.

That said, I should probably move these books to somewhere less damp.  Smells a bit musty.
