Witcher for me. Even if I'm wary of how W3 will end up, Bioware hasn't been making anything of interest to me in years and it doesn't seem like they're going to either.

the sluggish combat system

Got your rear kicked by those reinforcements? It happens, bro. No need to nerdrage.

Nah, didn't have any problem with the reinforcements, except that it was kind of silly when they popped in from thin air. My problem with it was they tried to create a combination of the baldur's gate, Dragon Age Origins like combat and that of an action rpg, and sadly it didn't really work out.

I voted Witcher ~simply because it's CDProjekt; I loved the first game, but the second one's gameplay was a stark disapointment, and I expect the next one to follow in its footsteps... but I do expect it to be a far better story and RPG in general than anything the current Bioware might produce.

*(I am currently playing DragonAge:Origins ~which is pretty decent, but I hear that the series took a nose dive afterward.)

Nah, DA2 is still fun. You just mustn't be too critical around certain features, like the reused dungeons. But DA2 does have nice Romance options which always helps 8)

Nice romance?!? You mean slutty pirate with boobs that defy gravity, a virgin elf girl next door, a troubled bisexual mage that will be angry with you if you refuse his advances, and don't forget the mysterious elven warrior with a painful and troubled past, includes white anime hair and cool tatoos. Please, the characters are all fantasy tropes and stereotypes taken to the extreme. And the scenes aren't any good either, just cut to black. DA2 is fun if you take it for what it is: A BIg Joke, because that's exactly what it is, if you ignore the plot, laugh at the extreme characters and get through the sluggish combat system you might get SOME enjoyment from it, but I don't understand why you would do something like that to yourself unless you are a masochist.

But damn you can't deny the fact  that Isabella is smoking hot, remember those pirate boots

She would have been hot if it wasn't for the terrible artstyle and graphics engine, her face looks weird and not like that of a human, that goes for several characters, some mods took care of that so: yes, I agree that she's hot WITH mods.

Didn't vote. Neither game's predecessors have made them "must have" games. I loved Witcher 1 yet couldn't bring myself to bother with Witcher 2. One of those games that is going to hog HDD space never to get played again most likely. Story didn't live up to the first game, combat was awful and the UI horrible, just horrible. At least i managed to play through Dragon Age 1 and 2, although the latter tried very hard to shoo me away with an encounter design that was... not sure what. Intended to chase away players from future games? Never mind that the combat system was just plain boring and a major let down from the first game. So two franchises with decent first entries and sequels that tried very hard to give sequels a bad name.

Makes me very apprehensive about a sequel to the sequel for both games ;)

I think TW2 story was a case of "half-full" rather than "half-empty". In other words, the story was great. But of course TW1 story was epic and easily outshined the sequel. The combat system was so-so but still a step forward from TW1 click-pause-click routine (without pausing you could never get a full combo out and with pausing it was like shooting fish in a barrel).

The UI was equally awkward in both games.

Neither of the Twitchers had good stories. I mean, seriously, white haired dude goes around slaughtering monsters and banging chicks is not story no matter how HOT the ladies are. Can watch fantasy porn if I wanted that.

I'm not sure about that,.....surly the hotness of women characters  in a game does matter on some level....

Your lack of ability to roleplay a different gender does not make it a male-only game. I had no problem playing, for example, KotOR2 or Mass Effect with a female character and pursuing some of the romance options.

While I can respect that a set protagonist with a set character and one of a different gender to boot might not appeal to everyone calling it a "male only game" because of that is a rather shallow view imho, especially since the "banging chicks" part of The Witcher is, as far as I am aware, entirely optional (not sure if the major romances are entirely avoidable, but all the others certainly are, as they should be).

Do not have boobs doesn't make a bra is for women only isn't it? Why not just pretend to have a pair of boobs on the chest while wearing it?

Of course it's a game which any gender can play, it doesn't make it's a game for all. something is just designed specifically for targeted buyer.

You can buy a bras and wearing them, doesn't mean that bras are created for you...

An RPG is a game designed for one mind to imagine the situations and personality of another. At it's core it is to roleplay someone else; gender is irrelevent ~the character doesn't  have to be human, or even organic life.  When one plays a game like Planescape, the player experiences the predicament of a man who has lost his mortality, and memory, and who has much to regret from his past actions... It matters not that the player can't choose to make him a woman ~that's not the tale that the game presents.

In the case of Witcher ~it's the same. The game tells the tale of Gerralt of Rivia; not Georgina of Rivia.

You don't really wish protaganist in movies be female too do you? Watch Braveheart and be upset that William Wallace was not a strong female character to identify with instead?

Men don't play Tomb Raider and demand the option to play Laurence Croft... the game and the story is about Lara Croft ~that's whose picture is on the cover ~same as the Witcher2 box featuring. RPGs [of which Tombraider isn't one]... are not required to allow custom character generation; although it's a popular option. just as with PnP games, the DM/GM may sometimes assign characters when they have a specific story to tell. If the game were not Witcher, but 'Joan of Arc', would you think it odd to demand to play John of Arc?

Roleplay is not about choosing one's fantasy avatar ~that's adventure sim. Roleplay is about extrapolating how this other person [or creature] can or would react to the situations they find themselves in... How a nervous ex-thief peasant would act at a palace ball that they were invited to as a guest; how one person would faint at the sight of a vicious were-rabbit, but yet another person would spring to action and slay it on sight ~or another still [a magician] would seek to trap it for later use... none of their gender's matter; it's their abilities and outlook ~and shortcomings that come into play. They are characters not avatar costumes; one plays them for their own sake... "What could this person do in this delema(?), and what would they not do?" .

No, that is beside the point, you can't generalize all games are the same, cannot say this game is created for all audiences, FPS players don't like RTS for example, even though FPS players can buy and play them but RTS games are not created for FPS players

You cannot say "the lack of ability to pretend to like apple pie in you making you are unable to eat it", you just don't like apple pie, and apple pie is not created for you, even though you may eat apple pie, it just you are able to buy and eat it, doesn't meant that apple pie is created for you, it is created for apple pie lovers

So you can't defend your premise because somethings are created for the one who like or want those things

Even movies are created for certain audiences, surely Mickey Mouse is not for 40 years old, but 40 years old can enjoy it, isn't it?

Star Wars is actually for kids, but funnily old peoples love it

All the women that have been announced as romances in Dragon Age: Inquisition look ugly so I won't play the game. Also I don't like it when you create your own character and the character have a voice, kind of ruins the whole point of creating your own character. I cringe everytime I see that demo and the 2 meter tall muscular female qunari speak like a tiny little elf.

If I were a betting man, it'd be The Witcher 3, but I'm not.

Dragon Age: Origins is a modern classic for me, but Dragon Age 2 is something of the lazy underachiever of the RPG world. Could have been good, but didn't put forth the effort required, taking its own success as too assured.

Both Witcher games are very good. So there is a consistent quality that makes it more reliable than Dragon Age.
