Nothing exciting, my wife's friend and her husband are coming out to the house for dinner but we are way too far out to see any fireworks. I'm smoking a rib roast and grilling some veggies from the garden. And of course domestic beer and top shelf bourbon will be served and enjoyed.

So maybe I shouldn't be admitting this, my immediate reaction when I see a reference to the 4th of July isn't US Independence day, but that one Tom Cruise movie (which at least I've never watched).

Pretty sure she has a beholder tattoo.

Gonna read some comic books, watch A Capitol Fourth on PBS, and then imagine and hope that all the angry white people who turned away the tired, poor, huddled masses of immigrant women and children never have to go through such an awful experience themselves.

Breast implants?  I'm pretty sure they have those in other countries as well.

I live in Hartford, Connecticut, I don't have to go anywhere, I get the best fireworks in the state right at home.  I'm not even going to bother driving, I'll just make a 15 minute walk to get a better vantage point.

Yeah, I don't have to go anywhere to see the fireworks either and people always want to come over because I'm near both the football and baseball stadiums

Right now I'm preparing everything for tomorrow like soaking gummy bears in vodka, making salsa, dry rub on the beef ribs, etc

Never mind those new fangled pretender anthems.  Here's THE CLASSIC:

Happy revolution day you dang colonials.. ;)

Wow, we went to war and threw out the Brits, a country nearly everyone in the colonies descended from and still had family in over a 3 pence per pound tax. Now consider what our current tax burden is. WTF happened?

Off-topic, and certainly not meant to disturb y'all's Indepence Day celebrations but...

It really is ironic how that song with the lyrics...

"Got in a little hometown jam

So they put a rifle in my hand

Sent me off to a foreign land

To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.

Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery

Hiring man said "son if it was up to me"

Went down to see my V.A. man

He said "son, don't you understand""

... ended up seen by many as a tribute to the greatness of the USA.

Not bashing, just... puzzled.

Never attribute to malice that which can adequately be explained by incompetence.

Yeah, it's not exactly a complimentary song. I just figure the folks who think it is only listen to the chorus.

To be fair, it was a lot more then that.  For example, the founding fathers didn't like that the British intended to keep the treaties we made with the locals and weren't taking their land.. ;)
