Enoch Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mXcs16jMsY I had NPR on the radio driving to work this morning. After dropping the wife off near her building, the youngin started to get restless and whiny. I switched from Steve Innskeep talking about ebola to this, which made the little guy much happier. (Me, too.) 3

Woldan Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Agiel Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Quote “Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.” -Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>> Quote "The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete." -Rod Serling
Bartimaeus Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart. In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.
Nepenthe Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Still enjoying what was IMO the best part of Mass Effect 3 - its soundtrack, the best in the series, even better than the awesome first one: 1 You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Woldan Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Still enjoying what was IMO the best part of Mass Effect 3 - its soundtrack, the best in the series, even better than the awesome first one: I agree, the Music in ME3 was excellent. I especially love the Mars and Creation themes. I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.

Keyrock Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 @Valsuelm - We have a winner! It's crazy how different Jerry looked without his trademark beard. For your effort you get a Jerry Garcia Band cover of a Bob Dylan song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv7DY27aPyk 1 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
Valsuelm Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Ha! I almost posted that one, but Ashley looking so nice in the Smoke vid enticed me to post the one I did instead. Here's another video of some hot Ashley, worth a watch even if you don't dig Bolton: And if you don't dig Bolton, here's this to make up for it: 1
Keyrock Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) Another installment of Name That Famous Musician: By the way, anyone is free to participate in Name That Famous Musician, whether guessing or posting a musician's picture for others to guess. My only guideline, and this isn't strict, is that the picture is of the person at at least the age of 16. Posting pictures from before that age just seems unfair. Here's another video of some hot Ashley, worth a watch even if you don't dig Bolton: The female version of Michael Bolton: I'm not generally a fan of this type of music, but, much like with Bolton, Sade's music is just so insanely good than even though it's not my thing I can't help but get into it and acknowledge how awesome it is. 1 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
Enoch Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) This is actually the most approachable track on this album-- the only one with the musicians mostly playing on their typical instruments. From the wikipedia description: Sun Ra decided to assemble a number of stringed instruments bought from curio shops and music stores. Ukeleles, Mandolins, Kotos, Koras, Chines Lutes, and 'Moon Guitars' were handed out to his reed and horn players in the belief that 'strings could touch people in a special way, different from other instruments.' The point was that the Arkestra didn't know how to play them - Sun Ra called it 'a study in ignorance.' It's pretty great. Edited October 12, 2014 by Enoch 1

Tsuga C Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Gotta love Heidevolk when they cut loose. http://cbrrescue.org/ Go afield with a good attitude, with respect for the wildlife you hunt and for the forests and fields in which you walk. Immerse yourself in the outdoors experience. It will cleanse your soul and make you a better person.----Fred Bear http://michigansaf.org/
