My experience with STEAM is getting worse and worse for the past 12 months. Sometimes I can only run it offline, sometimes I'm online but stuff refuse to download, other times it takes longer than it should to do simple things like loading a page for a game. Mostly it works fine, but it's been annoying me for the past year.

Uninstall and reinstall? It can get corrupted like any other program.

And of course, make sure you move your games to a neutral directory outside steam first before uninstalling it, as it wont even give you a heads up that it will delete them as well, or give you the option to not delete them in the uninstaller.

Although in my case, uninstalling/reinstalling steam did not help at all when it came to the 2 week bug.

You see, ever since the whole Doritos Locos Tacos thing, Taco Bell thinks they can do whatever they want.

Going to post it here, even though it isn't on Steam, but I seem to have two extra digital copies (from the devs' own site) each of Frozen Synapse and the expansion Frozen Synapse Red ?

(though I may be able to get steam keys)

This game has been fully endorsed by Deraldin.

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

It doesn't actually have tombs, more like tiny caves with a puzzle. The jumping puzzles are so so.  In true Ascreed style it ads new gameplay elements and then promplty forgets about them, survival and hunting for instance. You do that for one map, then it's onto something else.

All the staged bossfights are annoying trial and error experiences that are too far removed from normal gameplay. It's stuffed full of QTEs, you will barely be able to walk 5 steps without mashing some button or other.  Despite all these shortcommings it is well worth a single playthrough if you can get it on sale.

The only thing that attracted me to the tomb raider series was the jumping/climbing puzzles combined with exploration. That aspect is mostly gone, but the combat is much better. So yeah, good for a playthrough. It's not overly long so you don't get tired of it.

Same here (for a similiar amount of time). Today few hours ago it worked seemingly fine (other than telling me my HD is busy and halting a patch dl for a moment), now it tells me my connections are down.

edit - ehm, it seems I can't even connect to their website...

Rockstar Games sale this weekend.

Of course you can get the GTAs and May Paynes etc. cheaper.

But for me, the highlight was Bully: Scholarship Edition for only 3.3 euros. It is a kind of role-playing game (it has factions and quests), and great fun.

Right now, Steam has a big sale on Expedition: Conquistador, a great CRPG. You'll get it practically for free, and it's worth much more than that! Go get it, if you don't own it already! :)

Thanks for the tip. That  looked pretty good so I checked out some game play videos.  Just bought it.

It's actually cheaper on GOG- though you have to buy it as part of a choose your own bundle with other games.

The other advantage of buying E:C on GOG is that the steam version is published by bitcomposter since they were used as a short circuit to greenlight. If you buy from there you give bitcomposer money for doing literally nothing except putting their name down as publisher, if you buy from GOG the publisher is Logic Artists themselves so the bitcomposter share goes to the people who actually made the game.

Mind you, if that is your primary concern you're probably not buying it for $5 anyway...

I'm getting more and more annoyed with the icons being re-aligned out during sales if returning from a game page.

*random thought as watching weekly sales + bitcomposer sales, looking at a few potential titles, and then having to re-check the entire list again since the order is absolute random*

EDIT:

And for the past week(?) it seems to randomly loose connection to internet too. Ugh...

I actually went and looked that up. It appears to be a non-porn edition of a porn game. So expect "Ride to Hell, Retribution" levels of stupid.

Guys...

I - I...

I think I'm done with Steam as my primary source of gamecome (games/income).

HumbleStore gives half my munies to charities.
Origin nets me airline miles.

What does Steam do? Give me cards that net me three cents that I can use to buy moar games from Steam?

I mean, I'll still use Steam. I'll still buy the big co-op games that I know people will be playing on Steam... and of course HB is Steam-friendly but there are just better alternatives for me at this point...

Steam isn't even a leader in sales anymore. They just don't want to innovate, acting like it is still 2009.

I feel weird.

Because for some reason it has set font colour to: #cccccc and background to: #353e44 in the BBCode

Most likely it is the forum trying to express the weirdness you expressed you were feeling.

I'm afraid to bring my computer from home into town because for the first time ever, offline mode is actually working properly for me, and I don't want to jinx that by updating it.

EDIT: Plus at my house, WinXP is still in date.

A friend from school could use some votes on Greenlight if anyone would be up to clicking a quick "Yes". You should also feel free to decide that you are interested in the game and click "Yes" for that reason ;)

I was just going there to give that vote no matter what, but now I'm genuinely interested in the game! :) GL to your friend!
