Honestly, I would sacrifice all that I hold dear to be the leader of the alien conquest of Earth since I've seen all the movies and I know what works. ORIBITAL ****ING BOMBARDMENT. And also not running MacOS on your mothership. Of course, there's no need for a mothership in my civilization. Like I'd be fooled by Jeff Goldblum's pretty face or something. Okay, maybe I would be somewhat seduced.

Nothing will happen. The rich get richer and the poor people get even more poor.

A technologically advanced alien race comprised of very large cats with laser beams on their heads will visit Earth and be horrified that their "kin" are enslaved as pets. Only those with cats who will vouch for and plead for their humans will be spared. If you hurry, you can adopt a cat, give it lots of hugs and treats, and perhaps survive the coming Furpocolypse.

Yeah right, as if a cat would do anything for its human :p

It's all there in the name, actually. Ape-ocalypse. Now you just need to fill in the blanks

I'm gonna buy a vowel.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

Mexico climbed it's way up to the 5th place on the Tourist Attraction Rankings. Just awhile ago they were on the 10th place...I always knew that behind the curtain, mexicans were controlling the world. OMG! Teh ConsPiracy!

Nothing, save for some snowfall and me hoisting a glass of mead to celebrate Yule.

I did take my RV out this last weekend to fill it up with gas and make sure everything was running smoothly, just in case I need to load the family up on Friday and get out of town :p

I forgot about this. I guess the Mayans really screwed the pooch on this one.

So the question becomes, were the mayans really crap at predicting the future? Or were they just incredibly good at pranking people?

All I got in my neck of the woods was a bunch of rain then a dusting of snow which immediately melted. Pretty anti-climactic. So when's the next doomsday?

well, what I heard (...) was that the mayans weren't really fearing for the end of the world as they though it would be the dawn of a new age, one which would be better. (you know, woodstock hippies and free love and all that crap)

No, Americans (as well as many other people around the world, don't feel all superior, Europeans, I heard about how a bunch of looneys in France thought UFOs would save them if they went to some hill in some tiny village on the 21st,) are stupid and gullible and easily fall for History Channel tinfoil hat BS. The Mayans never predicted the end of the world. This is literally the end of a calendar cycle in the Mayan calendar. A new one starts when the old one ends. And once again, the Mayan civilization died out 1000 years ago.
