Sensuki Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) With the paypal backers (47K last i heard) we were at 2.7 a while ago, so almost half way to George Ziets! Edited October 12, 2012 by Sensuki 1
Ward Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Had to have MY PALADIN so i chipped in 50 bucks just before 2.7 SOOOO happy now!
elenuial Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I'm interested to see more about the Chanters. They looked like a new and different kind of class outside of the standard D&D stuff, and I'm wondering what kind of role they'll take on in the game, both in terms of combat and non-combat mechanics.
Malavinious Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Paladins, my class of choice! I'm about to pledge so we'll be a bit closer.
Sensuki Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I just upgraded my pledge to the CE ($140+shipping), might be tempted to go the $250 though. Just had to make sure one of my mates got my $20 slot.
Jaesun Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Woo hoo! Paladins! <3 Some of my Youtube Classic Roland MT-32 Video Game Music videos | My Music | My Photography
Sinistas Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Very excited for this, paladin has always been my favorite class. Onward and upward! Dreaded Silence - Boston Melodlic/Doom Metal

Well, they are more or less an equivalent of bards. Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki
JWestfall Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Lots of Paladin love here I see... but what about us poor Chanters? Do not tempt us to use our superior Lore on you...

Well, they are more or less an equivalent of bards. Are they? You could easily take that reading, but it seems like they're stretching for something a little bit weirder. Don't get me wrong. Bard was my favorite D&D3 class. But there's a lot of potential to do something interesting with a class that use "exhortations to the unconscious memory of wayward souls and the diffused spiritual energy of the world."
Darth Trethon Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 2.8 will definitely be done by tonight if they count paypal backers which I'm sure they will. The facebook likes are likely to hit 20k by tonight and there will definitely be 57500 backers on Kickstarter. So it looks like an epic update tonight with two stretch goals and two levels for the mega dungeon reached in one day.
bronzepoem Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I want to see two new companions , not classes Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, She got the Mercedes Benz She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember, some dance to forget
Ausir Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) I think we'll likely see at least one companion of each of the races and classes. In which case new classes = new companions as well. Chunkyman Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I'm happy about Paladins being added. Chanters/bards are a little... meh.
Redwulf Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) What I want to see is, will we reach the 3.5 million? I think that is asking A LOT, and I think Obsidian knows it. I wonder, wouldn't it be better for them to say get 3.4 million, and not quite get the last stretch goal? Hear me out here. Might barely not reaching 3.5 make the content they will have in the game that much deeper anyways? Is it possible that we would have a higher overall quality game if we don't quite make it to 3.5 but still get close and give them a lot of extra money to throw around on what is already going to be in the game? Just a thought. So what I'm saying is lets keep donating and make this game beautiful (provided your wallet still has tears to shed, in the form of cold hard cash). If we don't make it to 3.5 no biggie, it will still be that much better from our mighty efforts. Squeeze that plastic till it cries for it's mama. And if we do make it above 3.5 million, hey a new big city, I won't complain about that either. If we don't though, I bet you that city will show up in the expansion they are planing anyway. Tamerlane Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I think we'll likely see at least one companion of each of the races and classes. In which case new classes = new companions as well. I think someone - Josh Sawyer? - specifically said that there won't be a 1:1 match between the classes and the characters, and that's part of the reason for the Adventurer's Hall. 1

Yes, one of Obs guys said something along the lines of they'd rather have fewer extremely well-written companions than a bunch of shallow ones. That's not their words, but that's the sense I got from the comment. I think it's buried in the Q&A lists somewhere, but I'm too lazy to search it out (especially since I can't recall the exact wording). And CHANTERS! Yeah, baby. Daddy wants his Skald.
eimatshya Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I usually don't like bards much, but somehow the lore behind the Chanter class makes me want to play one. As such, I'm pretty stoked to see that we've reached, and surpassed, the 2.7 million mark. Onwards and upwards!
IndiraLightfoot Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 The chanter class is really growing on me. I'm happy this goal has been reached. Now for the next! *** "The words of someone who feels ever more the ent among saplings when playing CRPGs" ***
Kissamies Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I used to love paladins when I was a kid, but now I'm more of a ranger guy.The chanter sounds something I might play if I dived blindly into the first playthrough if they are like bards being jacks of all trades with good social skills. At least may dip into if there is multiclassing. SODOFF Steam group.
Muzrub333 Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Nice! Left work yesterday, and didn't get a chance to check in until this morning. Pretty serious upswing in donations yesterday, and seems to be continuing this morning. Su-wheat.
