diablo169 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 That's Europe as in the physical continent, not the European Union. Even though, money aside, UK is part of it nonetheless. Nah times like these I wheel out this quote " England isn't in Europe, we tolerate Europe, like a person tolerates herpes" and I'm mostly kidding, got nothing against the European people.......just the union.
Monte Carlo Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Yes, I like France. Apart from Paris, that is. I've been to virtually every country in Western Europe, apart from Scandinavia and Portugal. I like Italy. Love Germany. My favourite European city is Berlin, closely followed by Rome. I love Europe. I just don't feel European.

So do a lot of swiss people, actually (we're not even in the union). But, outright denying that England belongs to Europe is just geographically wrong.
Monte Carlo Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Hey, I like Switzerland too. I visit the Alps every year.
drake heath Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I'm from the swampy coastal part of North Carolina.
Monte Carlo Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Hi Drake. I'm astonished that folks from Europe (and Britain ) outnumber Americans here. Of course, it might be that the Americans are just too clever to post in this poll.
drake heath Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Yeah, it's weird considering Obsidian's an American company. I guess Obsidian has quite the fanbase in Europe.
Osvir Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 (edited) Stockholm, Sweden Hi Drake. I'm astonished that folks from Europe (and Britain ) outnumber Americans here. Of course, it might be that the Americans are just too clever to post in this poll. What I can deduce from my roadtrip in America would be that they are either too busy partying or too busy working. Or too busy watching television. I love America, beautiful country, beautiful people Europe is awesome too. We're all living on the same planet (I've got 2 feet on Mother Earth, not 2 feet in a corporate country). Edited October 7, 2012 by Osvir
Monte Carlo Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Okinawa is an island, but it is considered a part of Japan. And Japan is a bunch of islands, but it is considered a part of Asia. What's the big deal, UK? <---is in Okinawa, Japan, of course. Where we also drive on the left side of the road. Jersey and Guernsey are very near France, but are aligned to the UK. What's the big deal, Jersey and Guernsey?

turboprop Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) What counts is the Eurovision Song Contest. Israel competes in it, hence it's European... - Yep, it's all of European emigrants', who brought the PAL TV system to Israel in its beginning, fault that today we can't bring normal electronics from USA. ...but geographically it is part of Africa, ... If my education doesn't fail me isn't Isreal also geographically Asia? Probably not the best source but the fastest I found. http://www.worldatla...countrys/as.htm - It was common classical (by classical i mean academic) belief up until late 20th - beginning of 21th century, and yet not commonly known (not to speak about changing economical models or whatsoever demands investments of money and/or administrative resources), when last discoveries and studies revealed that Israel's eastern boundary (which stretches along Jordan river) actually stretches along African-Asian tectonic division and consequently almost entire Israel's area lays on African continent. Consequently, concerning your question: maybe (even if) your education does fail, it is obviously not your fault. Non the less you're right it saying that "Israel also geographically Asia" - it is in its small northern part (that is why i use word almost), but because it is small even in terms of tiny Israel i omitted its mention in first post (who thought that topic would require additional clarification). State of Israel is too small to catch attention of academical geographical mainstream. Additional sources are: http://en.wikipedia....d_Sea#Geography and http://en.wikipedia....d_Sea_Transform . Elerond Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 If I undestand correctly in classic seven continents division Israel is in Asia http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/19/Continents_vide_couleurs.png But in plate tectonics division Israel is mostly on African plate http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8a/Plates_tect2_en.svg
turboprop Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) ...But in plate tectonics division Israel is mostly on African plate - You understand right. I'm not sure about mostly or entirely and I don't want to mislead anyone by lack of my own education. So let's conclude that topic demands further study with adequate scaled maps and competent specialist. I can just say that by writing almost i meant some northern parts of Golan Heights (and i may just be wrong and they are in African plate too).
