I remember when I first realised that I had to levitate to get up to the towers, definitely a cool moment.

As much as I'd love levitation to return, modding it into Oblivion or Skyrim would break the game, you might as well just type noclip into the console ;)

Modding community couldn't do it for Oblivion AFAIK, so I'm not holding my breath in Skyrim. ;)

Modders fixed the "town/world are separate areas" dilemma, that's a step I suppose.

The way they handle maps and level design doesn't allow it, both for memory constraints and because it would make putting obstacles on the player's path more difficult if you can circumvent them and break the flow by levitating. It's a pity, I've been replaying Morrowind recently and levitating in Tel Fyr is a really great and subtle "setpiece" moment. ;)

I hope that doesn't mean you are effectively glued to the ground like in the Witcher series.

there is no acrobatics skill anymore, running and jumping will be handled like in fallout new vegas or fallout 3 (at least, this was my impression)

MW3 comes out tomorrow for the entire world.

 

Since 11-11-11 is a public holiday here, it's released on Thursday. But since I pre-ordered, I expect to get it on Wednesday.

The 11th is a federal holiday here in the US, but I still think it's coming out on Friday. It's actually an issue for me, I am going out of town Thursday and won't be back until late Sunday. I've never picked up a preorder that late, hopefully it's not a problem.

Well, even if I get it earlier, it still unlocks on 11-11-11. But at least I can sniff the box until then.

Voices and characters still pretty damn iffy if you ask me but the world looks really nice. Will probably be fun to explore it.

Beyond that everything looks fine. Voicework and animations are good enough.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

I agree and expect preorders to be able to preload by tomorrow. Just need to get past the onslaught of folks who are downloading MW3 still.

Preloading the very day before is a bit late. If it's not tonight, I don't expect it at all.

Morrowind's main narrative was hardly juvenile and had a solid metanarrative to go with it. I don't care about the main quest anyway I'll probably focus on the civil war quests immediately.
