Big Bottom Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 No sorry that was a complete fib. The best flash game ever!
Pidesco Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Aw, damn. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian touristI am Dan Quayle of the Romans.I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands.Heja Sverige!!Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Xard Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I've never been fan of Tiberium continuity. Apart from Kane. Kane rocks. Red Alerts have always been the C&C games for me But I really hope they won't bring Yuri back. How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
WILL THE ALMIGHTY Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Only played the first one... and was too incompetent to complete it. Sounds a lot like CnC 3 to be honest. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
Moatilliatta Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Only played the first one... and was too incompetent to complete it. Sounds a lot like CnC 3 to be honest. Well, it is a C&C game. The main difference between the two lines of games has always been that red alert in many ways is less serious and more about having lots of fun with a less than believeable but fun story (Einstein goes back in the future and erases hitler, the soviets have mind control technology, armoured bears etc.). Some people dislike that part of the RA games but most think that they are an interesting spin. Anyway if you can enjoy a game which is mostly about having fun then try RA2 as it evolved further in that direction than the predecessor.

Reminds me of Warcraft 3, for some reason... Red Alert 1 was more of a "serious" game then 2 but i kind of like the way they took the series. Red Alert 2 dove right into the wackiness and never looked back. Though i wish they kept the same actor of Einstein i liked him a lot better then the porky fellow they for the second game. The Coop campaign has perked my interest. I have wanted something like that for years. I always loved missions in RTS games with allied bases though most of the few times that happens your allies tend to have cripplingly bad A.I. I hope they can find a way to give you intelligent allies while not making the game too easy. I cannot stand the idea of babysitting your retarded AI ally through an entire campaign, i will have to make more friends who like RTS games to have a human helping me.
Shryke Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 the first one was alright (still an absurd story though) but the second one.... attack dolphins? giant squids? when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
Xard Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I've always preferred RA2 which is my favourite C&C game. Second last mission of soviets was insanely difficult for me back then. Ahh, good times How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. Hildegard Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Red Alert 1 with that cold war story and ambient was by far the RTS with a unique and best atmosphere I have ever experienced, RA2 was childish with those silly dolphins and squids, that acting on a scale of soft porn movies, tanks that appeared to have come out of a bad SF story, it's shame they didn't have mind-controlled pigeons that sh*t to death enemy units lol.

Hildegard Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Are you kidding? No, I think RA2 is bullsh*t. That's all.
Pidesco Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 It's just that the things you criticized about RA2 are also present in RA1. I mean as fun as RA1 was, it was a very silly game.In fact, I'd say the reason RA2 was like you described, was that the devs were basically following RA1's formula. Nick_i_am Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 That same sillyness annoyed me back when I would have thought that Hildegards signiture was cool and not just dorky. Go figure. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

Hmmm in RA2 the story was convincing as much as sesame street, the units in RA1 weren't so fictional as in RA2, if the devs of RA2 were following RA 1's formula then it's my thinking they blew it, I mean RA2 was pretty much a bold retard versus an ex porn star....RA 2 was far to americanized in terms of 'michael dudikoff' based atmosphere and gameplay....then again, it's only my opinion.

Big Bottom Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Honestly there are so many grim-faced RTSs out there I don't understand why people would have a problem with RA3 being unashamedly fun. When RA came out I shirked the summer sun to sit in front of a VDU for days on end and from the beginning it never struck me as a serious affair, it was played straight but you knew that it wasn't taking itself seriously. Quite frankly I'll take as many wacky ideas as RA3 can throw at me so long as it's fun, well balanced and it has russians in it. The best flash game ever!

Excuse me please, when you say fun I guess we have a different point of view when it comes to 'funny' or as EA says it "tongue-in-cheek humor" in RA3. There's a huge difference between stuff like psychic soldiers, tesla coils, and time travel on one hand, and parachuting bears on the other! Yes you read it right, motherfu*king parachuting bears!!! And not just any bears but circus bears! I mean there are far enough Hollywood random based bullsh*t spawned games out there...but I feel horrified that EA had to ruin such a great series like they started to do with RA2, now they're going to finish it with RA3. God bless Westwood when it was alive and independent
Meshugger Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Red Alert always had that "AWESOME" sticker to it. I mean, even look at the intro of the . Metal music + war in games= AWESOME to the max. The main title is even called "Hell March", awesome, awesome..... ...awesome. "Some men see things as they are and say why?""I dream things that never were and say why not?"- George Bernard Shaw"Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."- Friedrich Nietzsche "The amount of energy necessary to refute bull**** is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it." - Some guy
Tale Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Grace Park as Lt. Sandra Telfair, I think the bad guys have scorpions for logos, so she must be with the heroes - in Red Alert or C&C, is there any difference. The games themselves were never the apex of RTS. Just peek at the homeworld or warhammer 4k series to see how it's done. The lighting did her a major disservice in C&C3. It causes a weird shadow like a unibrow on her face. I hope they pay better attention with their RA3 actors. Grace Park is supposed to be hot. But there she's just creepy. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

Deraldin Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) I got my beta pass!! Bastard! Where's mine damnit! EDIT: Woo! Frank Klepacki back to work on Hell March 3! Edited June 24, 2008 by Deraldin
Moatilliatta Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 A Red Aler 3 video has been released. [link to RPS analysis which has link to actual HD download] I personally think EA has done alright with the ladies while we seem to be lacking men under the age of 1 billion. I do wonder why Tanya has become progressively more blond throughout each iteration. Is there perhaps a plot importance or something?
