LadyCrimson Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Why is there a big empty white space to the right of the screen? And...that looks painful. For her, not you. “Things are as they are. Sand Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Ah, the days where games were games, and the men were thickly pixeled. I liked the Maniac Mansion series more than the Monkey Island series. Sand Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) Interactive cinematics. Most newer games have agameplay style to them that mimics the cinema than games released in the past. Pidesco Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Interactive cinematics. Isn't that a good definition for classic Lucasarts adventure games? Sand Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) I view them more as puzzle adventures. Using today's technology and game engine they could be considered interactive cinematics. Hmmm... I think the gameplay of Monkey Island would be quite different if it used the Odyssey engine or the Obsidian's version of the Aurora's engine. Hurlshort Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 But the trouble is, if Monkey Island was released today, even with updated graphics, people would trash it. It's only about 6 hours long with a walk through, and in this internet age, too many folks are impatient. It's sad.

kirottu Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 It must be true. A computer game would never lie to me. Especially not in the dialogue with three headed monkey. Is that like quadruple negative? :D This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.

kirottu Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Those are from "The Secret of the Monkey Island". 16 years old adventure game. Works like a charm under scumm. This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.

Deraldin Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Two turns later those troops you can see are all dead, but 8 more have replaced them and my sniper is down to 20 health because he took 4 shots from two enemies who snuck up on me through the trees from the left where I couldn't see them. <_<
