A completely arbitary selection from me of what are generally regarded as the best D&D computer games released to date.

If you can think of another worthy, then feel free to nominate it and say why.

I nominate the original IWD because for me it really captured the classic feel of early D&D modules with a tight original story, beautiful graphics and fantastic music.

Eye of the Beholder 2 and the original Baldur's Gate fighting it out for second and third.

I wonder how many will vote Torment?

A long, long time ago, but I can still remember,
How the Trolling used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance, I could egg on a few Trolls to "dance",
And maybe we'd be happy for a while.
But then Krackhead left and so did Klown;
Volo and Turnip were banned, Mystake got run out o' town.
Bad news on the Front Page,
BIOweenia said goodbye in a heated rage.
I can't remember if I cried
When I heard that TORN was recently fried,
But sadness touched me deep inside,
The day...Black Isle died.

I voted for BG, mainly because while I enjoyed both PST and BG equally, I'm currently playing BG so it's more fresh in my mind.

Best combat: Temple of Elemental Evil

Best Old Skool Title: Eye of the Beholder (PC), Warriors of the Eternal Sun (console)

Best epic adventure: BG/BG2/ToB

Best dungeon crawler: IWD

Best necrophiliac use of dead engine for one last SLAM DUNK!: IWD2

Cheers

I voted for BG2, it was just more fun, although less impressive, than Planescape: Torment.

We now bring you live footage from the World Championship Staring Final.

I replayed it fairly recently and it really didn't do much for me...it's just as linear as IWD, the combat is terrible compared to other IE games and while it has a decent story sometimes I felt like I was reading a book rather than playing a game.

I don't have anything against reading books but it's not what I want to do on my PC.

Also the Planescape setting never did much for me...it just doesn't feel like D&D to me.

I voted for Pool of Radiance. That game changed the way I viewed computer games as a whole. It was also a great game in its own merits. Of course, the interface improved in the later games and the graphics have aged considerably, but it's still easily my favourite among the games in this poll.

Overall? Neverwinter Nights. Afterall, it's the only D&D game to allow you play exactly like in pnp with a DM. Good job.

As far as OC is concerned, then I'd have to give it to BG2.

Though; it is not surprising that PST is winning on an Obsidian message board (lol). It's only real competition here (R00fles!) is IWD.

That proves nothing. Since when did you kiss Gamespy's ass? Should I show you what they rated NWN?

I voted BG2 because, besides Torment, it was the one I had more fun with.

I didn't vote PST because, to me, it didn't feel like D&D due to the setting and the way rules were handled.

I would vote for Pool of Radiance II, but since it's not in the choices, I'll opt for PST.

Why would you vote for that game?  It ate OSes and had no gnomes.

I don't judge a game on whether or not it's playable or not. I judge it on the GAMEPLAY. And that is where POR2 destroys every other game on that list.

Is it me or does that not make sense?

If a game is unplayable, how exactly can it's gameplay (something you can't experience if the game is unplayable) be good?

That's like saying I chose a game because of it's graphics, even though my monitor doesn't work.
