Lucas Arts are fed up with Obsidian forums being used as a base for operations against their "good" name. Solution: Throw a pail of cold water in their face and lock the malcontents up for 6 months.

If this place would close, where would our poor trolls go? Building up a reputation like Volo's aint no small thing.

Face it, we're getting the hammer and probably sooner than we expect. OE dont think they have anything to gain from this community and rather than wasting resources keeping it afloat they're pulling the plug.

I would be very saddened if the forums were to close permanently. I have always enjoyed the openness and friendliness of BIS/OE, and this has been one of the major factors in my purchasing and playing of their games (the other major factor being the high quality stories and varied gaming experience they've always produced). I sincerely hope that this continues to be a facet of life at Obsidian Entertainment, and hope that any closure would be merely temporary until someone can be hired to manage the forums.

Maybe Obsidian cant find it nich and wont be surviving. Unless its planning to leech from Bioware.

I'd be sad. The BIS/OE boards have been my home on the internet for several years. It was a huge blow to my online presence when Interplay shut down their community boards

The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.

They could always migrate to the NWN2 boards. Though the irony would be very great, I really don't want these boards to close. There should be a company forum for story-driven RPGs other than Bio's.
