Tha_Mujician01 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 courtesy of CirrusStrafe of gamefaqs for a kotor III co-operation between bioware&obsidian http://www.petitiononline.com/012387/petition.html join the revolution...oops.. i mean SIGH THE PETITON! and remember to sign here as well so it keeps the topic bumped for everybody to read
Bastilla_Skywalker Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 oh goody I am the first one to sign (w00t) Press Teh Button
steelfiredragon Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 so i have read your thread, so i have signed it. would do very well to do this. it also may make some things not workable storywise, a whole story to be writen and half done by each game wise. pride can destroy a planet Strength through Mercy Head Torturor of the Cult of the Anti-gnome
TSAdmiral Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 This would be an incredible combination of talent and experience, however I suspect something like this would never happen.
nightcleaver Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I suspect it would never happen. It seems they have very different design styles. However... it would be nice if they each designed the aspects of RPG' gaming they do best into one game. It would make an INCREDIBLE game.
EnderAndrew Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I have nothing against Bioware, but I'm content to have Bioware create the engine (which they have) and let Obsidian design the game.
Cyricc Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 This seems highly unlikely... Bioware is currently working on Jade Empire and will soon be shifting its resources to Dragon Age; Obsidian is developing NWN2.
EnderAndrew Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Obisidian hired to split into two teams. I think they're trying to grow and expand. Either way, how would the profits split? How do they decide who lead design or lead programmer is? How do they decide which staff makes the team? You're seeing cooperative efforts from Bioware and Obsidian currently. Bioware gives the engine and advice. Obsidian does the rest. I'm fine with that arrangement.
Tainted Mustard Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Somehow, this kind of petition doesn't seem complete without some sort of... threat.
Craftsman Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Its like trying to get ATI and Nvidia to work together. Its not going to work
AlexRmF Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 And maybe they could use Bioware's Jade Empire engine.
DSLuke Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 How can an engine that has been designed priomarily for FPS be used effectively for the sequel to on of the best RPG games? Doesn't sound right to me.... And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
EnderAndrew Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Source was designed to be modded. And one of the first things Valve said was that they believed Source would be a good engine, even for RPGs. That's why Troika used it for their RPG.
Craftsman Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Source is new, perfect for facial expressions which is vital for the KOTOR series. I wanna see the hate/praise not jsut hear it.
Vanidar Skywalker Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 http://www.petitiononline.com/012387/petition.html I didn't make the petition, but I thought people at Obsidian Forums might like to sign.
Craftsman Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Hey, you kids. Let Lucasarts decide. Petions influence nobody.
Fighter Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Let most people atleast play the game.........
Craftsman Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 PC version will be a true indication of KOTOR 2 since all the technical issues should be a problem eg loading times.
Phosphor Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Sales of the game will speak much louder than any on-line petition ever possibly could.
Volourn Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 "That's why Troika used it for their RPG." Yes, and the Source Engine did everything it could to ruin an otherwise good RPG. 90% of what is wrong with BL is Source's fault (and how Troika used it). If it wasn't for that pathetic engine; Bl would probably be in my top 5 RPGs. Alas, it is not. As for people saying BIo doens't have the manpower because they are already working on 2-3 games. I laugh at you. BIO has over 200 employees. Most game companies have about 30-50. I think BIO can *easily* handle another game, or two if they so wish. That said, I don't sign petitions. Petitions are evil. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Nur Ab Sal Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Bioware's KOTOR 1 sucked in terms of storyline that was linear and clumsy. HERMOCRATES: Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned. SOCRATES: This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.
Darth Somethingorother Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Exactly, why split the game between Bioware and Obsidian, when it could be given to Obsidian alone? Blue lorry yellow lorry blue lorry yellow lorry blorry. D'oh.
Ostkant Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I want this same system in KOTOR 3, back off with that stupid Source, would never make a good RPG.
