That's always something to look out for, but since Battlefront2 they have may some attempts to release legit titles. Hopefully this one will be one of those.

I heard it's being made by some of the XCOM folks, so it could be decent.

If that trailer is supposed to be inspiring though... whoever made it may be professionals, but they didn't get the job done.

https://www.thegamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-sales-15-million-larian-losses/

This is a old story but I found it interesting because of how Larian was running at a loss and BG3 sales numbers saved it. It was a  small loss and would  have been around the cost to develop BG3 which is expected

" We now have a better idea of just how successful Baldur's Gate 3 was, with the Irish Independent reporting that the game sold 15 million copies. This comes after developer Larian reported €214,000 in losses prior to Baldur's Gate 3 launch. Now, it's being reported that Larian made €249 million in pre-tax profits - quite the turnaround after its losses. This puts the studio in a very comfortable position as it works on its next two RPGs, which are not Baldur's Gate related and therefore won't require the Dungeons & Dragons licence. "

I'm a bit bummed it isn't more of a Bad Batch situation. The trailer was probably supposed to highlight how there are all these different types of characters in the squad, but it doesn't make a lot of sense in the setting to have a jedi, a mandalorian, a smuggler, and a trooper all jumping out of a ship together.

Of course, space fantasy doesn't have to make sense if the gameplay is good. :p

It's a pvpve game, so whatever. Will never play it.

Remember the good old days when single player, PVP and PVE was all in the same title. Pepperidge farm remembers.

Let’s hope so you both are correct. I actually like the idea of SW Tactics, but EA is a big red exclamation mark for me like forever…

Oblivion Remastered

/Edit: It's on Game Pass as well, which means I don't have to pay the 60 bucks to do a quick look around. Nice. I'm really getting used to this Game Pass thing...

I don't really remember Oblivion being all that exciting in terms of story and setting. Is that the one where I had to close a bunch of gates?

Morrowind would be more interesting to me. Maybe that will be next.

Of all these old RPGs, the only two I really want remasters of are Neverwinter Nights 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. The first I am hopeful that recent find in SteamDB proves true and we will have it. The second I highly doubt will ever happen, which is a shame.

Why make a remaster of a Bethesda game? Even without a remaster, they only ever made one game and are remaking it over and over again with new textures.

Ok, I've played it for about an hour. It's basically the same jank as back in the days, just with some more pretty graphics now. Thing is, it really replaces everything with new, more pretty graphics, but it's just not enough. Now with the huge view distance, the world feels tiny and fake, even more than in the original experience. To me it honestly looks worse than Morrowind with e.g. OpenMW engine and some graphic mods. That game, even with huge view distance enabled, did not feel tiny. Additionally, thanks to stupid Unreal Engine shenanigans, my GPU fans are running crazy and I have no idea why. Temperatures are fine... got the same issue in some other UE games (but not all of them). No clue what's causing this, but I don't want to play next to a hair dryer that won't ever stop.

Game still has the same issues ofc. Terrible story, terrible dialog, terrible NPCs, there are enemy mobs in stupid places every few meters, because by god you can't enjoy a walk without having to fight something for once. I killed a wolf, kept following the road and in like 20 meters distance already saw the next wolf waiting for me. No thanks. The ai detection range seems to be the same or similar as back in the days, which means it won't move until I'm close enough to activate its behavior. Very cool when you're standing in some wide, open field.

I really hate that game with a passion. Exactly the same issues as in Fo3, Skyrim, etc... at least Skyrim has a pretty game world, that looks even better with some mods.
There are rumors that a Fo3 remake will be next. I kinda hope they will do it.. not because I want to play it, god no, it's a terrible turd as well, but because then there is a chance for a FNV remake after all.

Oblivion Remaster is great for those that love the game and just want better visuals for their fave game. Nothing wrong with that.
Although I've heard that this remaster may not be fully moddable/limited re: modding, so if one wants their mega/more complex mods, one might have to stick to the other versions?
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/oblivion-remastered-doesnt-officially-support-mods-but-the-mods-are-rolling-in-anyway/

For my brain, if it's only visuals and not very moddable, I would stick to the moddable version. Or at least wait until it's on sale for $15 and/or see how far modders can work with it.

Oblivion  is a great game when you can mod it and fix its systemic vanilla flaws like level scaling

Bethesda is saying this version wont support mods which makes its a non-starter but modders are disputing that already

Does the remaster fix the funny leveling system where bandits are all walking around in in super expensive glass armor towards the later game?
