Dear guys and gals: please stop using the word "bro" as a general exclamation every 5 seconds, and/or as the start or end of every single utterance. I get it, catchphrases/words catch on/become habits at times. But good lord. Time for something else now? Please?

OH MY GOD BRO THIS IS SO FIRE.

32% of YouTube is screaming idiots these days. 67% is AI generated slop, and there's 1% of decent content.

No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.

Do you find it sexist, would you be  happy if they said " sis " every 5 seconds :aiee:

Best thing YT provides for me are the cooking shows , cute dog and animal interactions  and then gaming updates around things like  mod collections, mod managers or game strategies around different classes if you not familiar with a ruleset

The gaming videos can be very informative, I mastered Mod Organizer 2 by using YT

But the political updates and opinions are probably the worst reason to use YT

It depends a bit what you use YouTube for I suppose. I actively search for things like miniature painting guides, Horus heresy battle reports, history and archeology channels etc. I frequently use he do not suggest channel option to get rid of a lot of contemporary political activist channels that the algorithm (or paid for exposure) tried to get me to watch. Also, don’t visit that site without extensions that skip the 30 second ads that otherwise seems to pop up either every 120 second or you use the skip to different place on the timeline function whichever happens first

edit: I do sometimes watch YouTubes recommended videos but that’s almost always for related music videos

Absolutely, I use YT for similar things

It can be very informative like I mentioned

But the political opinions are normally the sensationalized and biased videos I dont take seriously

I sometimes watch debates on topics at Oxford  around " colonialism in our modern age " but only sometimes

I don't think this option is available if watching without being logged into a YT account. Which is what I'm doing 99% of the time, even when I had an account.

YT search also sucks these days, that's all I have to say on that.
YT-Home page is for when I'm just in brainless mode and don't mind the random, mostly when I'm on the tablet.  I like mini-docs/essays (on crime, books, media, history, culture etc). eg, yesterday I watched a couple on the (US culture) station wagon's history and why/when it's (mostly) disappeared.  Game/film reviews/news/trailers, the occasional geek project rambler (not reviewer), sketch humor. And cats, ofc. Occasionally news clips but then I get depressed and go back to cats and video essays.

And while I used to make fun of them (well, I still make fun of them) there are a select few tv/film "reactors" that I like quite a bit because I consistently enjoy their personalities, like CineBinge and Badd Medicine.

These days I mostly use YouTube for music and specific cooking or fitness stuff. The unsettling AI voices spouting word salad over stock images is not a good time.

Finally figured out that trombone song I have had in my head for years is the Peter Gunn theme.

The only issue with YT is that it pushes the slop to the forefront, so it's hard to discover good channels. It makes it seem like that is all there is to it.
