I think that's the first official confirmation about training of Ukrainian pilots.
No one before seriously suggested that the plane of choice would be Eurofighter.
Looks like all those rumored secret training programs were bunk.

Yes. You see the world inside the giant ball of ice is constantly shifting. What was once south is now north, what was east is now west.

Top Putin Ally Says He ‘Will Not Hide’ Intention to Invade Poland Anymore

Quote

Ramzan Kadyrov, a key ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has begun rattling off threats about attacking Poland after Ukraine.

Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, suggested Monday that Russia should “denazify and demilitarize” Poland next.

“What if, after the successful completion of the NMD, Russia begins to denazify and demilitarize the next country? After all, after Ukraine, Poland is on the map! I will not hide that I personally have such an intention,” Kadyrov said on Telegram. “I personally have such an intention, and I have repeatedly stated that the fight against Satanism should continue throughout Europe and, first of all, on the territory of Poland.”

From what I'm reading, Hersh used to be a well-respected reporter, but years of Osama bin Laden, 9/11, and JFK-truthing have kinda done his reputation in, and the story seems to hinge on a single anonymous source. Not that I'm saying he's necessarily lying or wrong here (objectively speaking, it sure seems like the U.S. had the most to gain from doing it!), just that...you know, skepticism is pretty warranted.

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

Far more interesting to see who, if anyone, covers it in the media, and how. Especially given their prevalence for repeating information from 'anonymous intelligence/ military insider' acritically, when they want what is being said to be true.

In terms of what Hersch says... there really isn't anything at all concrete. It probably was the US (or proxy) and always was due to who could do it and who benefited, and the scenario is plausible, but that's all.

Balkans or South Europe. East <-- former eastern bloc for most.

Though that certainly isn't an absolute designation.

Serbia is Siberia for most, but I was more poking fun at majestics statement. Factually we were neither, we were a third world country and the founders of that block.

Growing up, Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and its friendly neighbours) and Romania were "The Eastern Bloc". Until they decided that the CCCP wasn't their friend and picked the third option so to speak. Not part of EU/NATO, not part WP (I should say affiliated with, as they were not technically WP countries iirc). Nationalism eventually put an end to Tito's Yugoslavia and... people got fed up with the Ceausescu family in Romania.

Edit: I remember when Nikolai and his missus got put up against the wall and executed by firing squad. Soooo many red ears in a lot of western countries, because they had all heaped medals and honours on him, because he was a light in the dark, a beacon of freedom standing up to the mighty oppressors in the CCCP. Of course, the guy praised with medals and honours was a worse tyrant and despot than Saddam Hussein.

I used to have hopes of something analogous to this happening in Russia, but apparently not. The "apparently" has been reinforced by a number of Russian historians and writers who point out that this is just not how the Russians behave.

Of course, since Tito killed any nationalism his enforcers found and some things beside it. To demonstrate how aggressive he was with this. Diana Budisavljevic should have been declared a saint for her efforts, but what happened instead is that Tito's enforcers came in to her office took all the files she had regarding the children rescued and more importantly the children who's parents she was still searching for and ordered her to stop any further efforts under the threat of imprisonment. She didn't even get a medal. Why? Because "Bratstvo i jedinstvo".  We should have killed Tito and let Slovenia and part of Croatia be swallowed up by Italy and just took the territory we occupied. Alas it was not meant to be. Hopefully we learned our lesson and the third time around we will not repeat it.

Yugoslavia was never a part of the Eastern Bloc, ie. under the control of the Soviet goverment. Maybe once it was liberated and the soviet troops were still in our territory, but not even then I think.

As said, I wasn't quite sure which, if any of the two were part of the WP. Maybe neither. But in the western mindset in the 70's it was regarded as commie/socialist territory and therefore only one step removed from eternal damnation ;)

Edit: Don't get me started on Albania and Hoxha (the only true friend China ever had, to the point where Albanian was the only second language being taught in Chinese schools, making it one of the worlds most spoken languages, even if just as a second language) 😂

This reminds me of how there have occasionally been calls for people like her to sort of come forth and do something remarkable in Russia, in the anti-war sense.

If memory serves correctly, approximately 18 million people served Hitler's reich in Germany. And the total number of people like Oscar Schindler who went out of their way to save as many jews as possible is estimated to be about one hundred.

That's how rare people like this are. Unfortunately, people who are prepared to set up and enforce places like the Ustase camps or the Partizan Sporting Hall raping centre in Foca are much, much more common. Which sort of doesn't augur well.
