Seems like too late for this, hopefully no under prepared morons go for it

Ever heard of the Spanish Civil War?

While the Axis forces supporting Franco's Fascist army were regular military, a large number of volunteers (including Russians) fought for the Republicans. Lots of them civilians having been shown how to remove the safety from a gun.

And here you've lost me.

It was a bit humorous during a chat, but it was mainly pointing out that men in Western societies are on average weaker. There are lower level of testosterone, lower sperm quality (you can read studies comparing current vs ones 40yrs ago), and on average in much worse physical shape, and those who do get fit, usually are weaker psychologically and use body mostly like women, for display.

In Ukraine you have a large populace of rural, industrial, maritime and other labor intensive jobs and also a large part still tjinks that man is responsible for wellbeing of the family and family is important

That said, you can prove me wrong.

Zelensky just opened legal way to form foreign legions and have them operate under Ukraine authority.

At the same time, France did this

To sum up, the countries in the west can send more than just equipment if men there are up for it. Yoy can experience this first hand

I really don't get the number of people acting as if Kiev not falling by day 2 was unexpected.

For Russian it was unexpected as they had not established supply lines for their troops, which has hindered their progress according to our military intelligence

I'd believe that when I see it- it's a city of ~1.5 million people and you can't just waltz in. There's fighting in the city centre, but then the fighting in Kiev got very close to the centre

Sure, and footage only shows Russian recon elements at this point but let's not pretend they need every single cellar to surrender before moving on.

@Zoraptor not sure how valid of a solution this might be, but if it came to worst, they might be evacuating south-west towards carpathia and use that as a funneling channel for gear/people as well as keep claim that they are still in Ukraine and not abandoned it.

Seems like a list ditch plan.

They're always going to have logistical issues because... that's what happens to everyone.

To put it in perspective, it took the US 15 days to get to Baghdad in 2003. At the rate the Russians are moving at the moment in the south they'd have got to Baghdad in less than a week. Outrunning logistics is pretty close to inevitable.

I'd also note that... you quite possibly literally literally won't find a war Russia has ever fought in where they haven't been accused of being logistically underprepared. It's perhaps the most stereotypical military accusation there is.

Personally I doubt the Russians will go anywhere near the Carpathians. I'm still of the opinion that any Russian occupation will basically be a crescent from Transnistria up the Dniepr as that's for the most part controllable and way more than enough to force a capitulation. Going UPA in the mountains can't work in that scenario.

Seems Kharkiv is about to fall if it didn't already.
With Lukaszenka about to commit Belarussian troops this is not looking good for Ukraine.

From what I understood, the Ukrainian forces let Russian Army into center withour restitance just to ambush and easily defeat them. We'll see how it really goes. Still feeling very uneasy about any news from Kharkiv, due to colleague living there :(

Serbia, in it's official statement, condemned the Ukrainian invasion and supports its territorial integrity, while drawing parallels between the 1999 NATO aggression and what is happening now in Ukraine. Saying all that, it will not impose any sanctions on Russia.

To translate:

The US embassy: "The US salutes the reinforced attitude of Serbia and it's president in their support of the Ukrainian territorial integrity which has been violated by the illegal and unprovoked attack by Russia".

Russia: "Thank you Serbia".

The Serb at the top: "They must be ****ing with us".

Just in: 3 grannies wiped out a column of Russian tanks, Russians now demoralized and retreating.

Same tactics was used by Chechens during the first Chechen war against Russia and it was pretty seuccessful, and Groznyi is much smaller city than Kharkov. Considering historical experiences, It is at very least plausible.

Well, as you might have noticed, the first wave of Russian soldiers are consisting of inexperienced conscripts, and because of that, I kind of doubt, that even military leaders of these troops are the Russian tactical elites. These kind of mistakes seems logical, when taking this fact into consideration... 🤷‍♂️

'Russian soldiers looting stores for food' constantly pops up but I am not sure if it's true.

If they are indeed looting stores then they are probably in bad shape.

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

Obama was brown and he sure did bomb lots of brown countries so kinda irrelevant, especially considering Zionists collaborated with Nazi's in their crusade against Russians and Communists.

....

Looks like Putin is putting Russian Nuclear Deterrence Forces on high alert over aggressive statements by NATO, also huge column of Russians moving towards Kiev.

Don't worry though there's hope:

This is an interesting point. I wonder if it has something to do with complacency/hubris brought on by their numerically superior forces. When you look at the statistics of, say, the Winter War (Soviet Union vs. Finland, 1939-1940; stats available on the Wikipedia page), they are nothing short of astonishing. It just shouldn't have been possible for the Finns to put up a resistance like that.

And first negotiations start.
Not sure what the point is, Lukashenko can't refuse joining in at this point and Putin will demand almost complete surrender.
Maybe they just want to deny them the propaganda opportunity that all talk offers were rejected?

I consider the news that Putin has upped his nuclear forces alert status to be more evidence that things are not going so rosily for them on the ground. Plus, now some of those sanctions measures are actually beginning to bite. Backlash against Russia around the world is growing. Even China is now softening its pro-Russia statements. Putin is beginning to feel like a cornered animal, and to be frank that is the most frightening scenario of all: that Putin starts to feel like he's losing, and given that the one thing he will never accept is losing face, he does something truly psychotic like shooting off a couple of tactical nukes.
