LadyCrimson
Skyrim - I have the original release version and I think I'll keep it that.I do like fishing. But Skyrim: The Fishing Game isn't enough to make me install it again. Black Myth: Wukong - all the improvements in modern graphics and they still can't make rock/cliff or other similar textures that bear close inspection (they look great as distant mountains tho). I am still so often disappointed how a scenic/room/forest scene (or an enemy/monster) in a game looks so great overall but then you walk up close to stuff and it's a blurry or oddly abstract mess ... maybe when they get to all 8k textures, all the time. Edit: not a criticism of this single game, just what crosses my mind with any "graphic showcase" trailer Edited August 20, 2021 by LadyCrimson 1 “Things are as they are. All fishermen know that "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. melkathi
I made the mistake a couple of nights ago to say nothing, when asked what I'd be doing that evening. Next thing I knew I was on a tiny boat with two other men, skimming out of the bay for nighttime fishing. Caught my first calamari. It was an experience. They threatened to take me along with them again. 4 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise). But on a serious note, legal and regulated fishing is obviously a critical part of supplying all our countries with fresh fish ....and I would argue fish is an almost critical part of our diets? It doesnt matter if its for restaurants, families or wide spread selling its very good for us and really promotes a healthy\healthier lifestyle So fishermen do matter "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. melkathi
You have a line with maybe three sinkers (Google squid hook). They have a lot of barbs but no actual big hook that gets stuck in. Lower the line to the bottom, then haul it back and lower it again. As you fish during a dark night, the little light from your lamp should reflect from your sinkers and attract the squid. It latches on and you haul it up. As there is no big hook though, if your movement isn't steady or too slow, it'll move off. So basically you just lower your line straight down and pull back up. No bait needed as light is your bait. Edited August 21, 2021 by melkathi 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise). Gfted1
Ah, similar concept to these bait rings I used to use. The minnows swim into the rings trying to get to the ribbon and it becomes stuck around their body. Just lower and raise. melkathi
I find the whole heading out in darkness more fascinating than the fishing. It has something clandestine about it that appeals to my RPG gamer heart. Also the arriving at the dark side of the island to find tiny little lights dotted around, where the other boats are. Would totally try to integrate it into a game if I were a dev. I'd rather have the graphics all look the same level of quality, no matter what that quality or art style is. What bugs me is because of reasons (performance I assume) , they always focus on player character faces/gear or certain other things (and lately, obsession with "realistic lighting") to look uber awesome, but then you stand that character next to something and ... it really stands out that one has so much more detail/fidelity than the other. Distracting. Probably one reason they like to blur backgrounds so much sometimes, which I also hate. Borderlands series, since they did all that cell shading or whatever, the look was consistent with everything. Or top-down isometric/3rd person/pulled back viewpoints look consistent because you weren't allowed a super close up view in the first place etc. Edited August 22, 2021 by LadyCrimson “Things are as they are.
