Gorth Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 A different use for drones... The "Prometheus Drone" When Hollywood director Ridley Scott filmed astronauts looking for aliens in his 2012 movie Prometheus, little did he know that it would one day inspire a Network Rail drone project. But, bizarrely, that's exactly what has happened. Network Rail, which owns and maintains most of the railway infrastructure in Britain - from vast stretches of track to thousands of bridges, tunnels and level crossings - has long sought cheaper and easier ways of surveying the many underground caves and abandoned mines dotted around its property. ... ... This is how the "Prometheus" drone project got its name and, although the caverns Network Rail hopes to explore with the device will be smaller than the alien tunnels in the film, the technological principles are almost exactly the same. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-55191623 1 “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Guard Dog Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Is this the end of cities in America? Ummm no. But, it is an interesting population shift. One that will be exacerbated by eventual tax increases as more and more of the taxes are borne by a shrinking tax base. But... the folks who move because of oppressively high taxation and city hall bullies tend to vote for the exact same s--t they just fled from when they get to their new cities. As for me, hell will freeze solid before I ever again reside inside of a city limit. Or near one. In fact if I ever even get a neighbor whose house I can see from mine I am f-----g out of here! Guard Dog Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Bitcoin prices top $20,000 milestone and continue to surge to record highs - CNN I'm getting very nervous about this. I bought one bitcoin two years ago when the price was $3600. I figured it was a crapshoot and I just wasted $3600. I mean you are literally buying nothing. Now nothing is worth a lot and I'm wondering what the top price of nothing is. When do you get out? Gfted1 Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 How do you "cash out"? Can you just go to the bank and collect your $20k and transfer them the bitcoin? Or you can only virtually spend it at places that accept bitcoin? "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"

Or you can only virtually spend it at places that accept bitcoin? To buy and sell crypto you have to sign up to an exchange. There are several but I use Coinbase. You create a virtual “wallet“. And yes you could use it just like a currency if you were doing business with someplace that accepts bitcoin as payment. Or any other cryptocurrency. There are several. One even has the backing of the US treasury. But you can sell the asset back to the exchange like any other security 1 "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell
