If the port is of the same level of quality as Nier: Automata I think I'll pass.

Yes, I'm still bitter about it deciding my savegame was not worthy enough to be kept around.

Spoilers for NieR 1.

Spoiler

NieR: Gestalt/Replicant did the erase-your-save-for-the-best-ending thing first. So it was not as impactful for me in NieR: Automata.

I suppose, NieR 1 better subverted the hero's journey trope (not sure, if Automata tried to do so) and subsequent "playthroughs" (technically, it was one playthrough, but some parts were awfully similar) were less irritating, due to the fact that enemies and especially bosses did not scale, so by the third run, it required 2-3 minutes to deal with each one and move on. Also not being forced to play as a support character was great (I do strongly dislike 9S).

I was nowhere near the end though... unfortunately.

It is finally here, after five thousand hours of work, 800 of which were spent on playing, reading and watching the Witcher franchise, here's Joseph Anderson's analysis, part 1:

And yes, that 4 hour video is part one. Two more videos to follow. 😄

And.... I watched it all. Ready for the part 2. I must say, it's been quite chaotic. I admire his commitment to exploring reactivity even including seeing through what will happen in Witcher 3 if he allows Thaler to die in W1 😬

Meantime I am still to start the Netflix show.

I presume, there are heavy spoilers in it right?

Is it going to be a cheap, flimsy piece of plastic like the duelshock that felt like they spent 10 minute of R&D making it?

The buttons are already modeled off the Vita, which is one of the most premium feeling products and easily best d-pad I've ever seen.

I too thought it looked liked the love child between a Portal turret and a DualShock 4... must have been for... science...

Joe has a bunch of other videos you can spend hours watching, and he always says if you'd like to play the game at some point it's better to play first, then watch. Except for games where it really doesn't matter, e.g. Factorio.

Fractured and Factorio aren't the same thing, obviously.

And now as a bonus you get white color so you can see almost all of your stains on it right from the first day of use ;)

I actually like all previous DualShocks compared to most controllers I owned, and never felt pain in my hands even after hours of button mashing in fighting games, so I am not very happy about the new design much.

Any preferences regarding controllers? After some research I bought Dualshock2 for my laptop, and outside having to use it while wired I had mostly a great time with it. Quite quickly I started to gave issues with left sticks deadzone, which I wasn't able to quite solve by expanding the deadzone in steam settings (it tends to put forward imput by itself) which was disappointing. It feels good to use though.

I remember this video being recommended to me and thinking "Who the **** is Joseph Anderson and why should I care?" I would gladly listen to anyone that has the answer....I"m not watching that video though.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Age of Wonders: Planetfall brought out a teaser for what I expect is the next DLC.

We'll probably know more next week.

I've always preferred xbox controllers. They're a little bigger, weight a bit more, the trigger and bumper buttons are wider spaced, and the analog sticks are place right next to one another. To me, they just feel much better. If I have to use a controller, I use my elite. Keyboard and mouse, though, is my favorite control input.

Well, for some games controller, for some keyboard&mouse. I have been eyeing Elites. Pricey but they look solid.

And the player is a Lasombra. That is neat.

Did you play Coteries? As Shadows will tell a story apparently shortly after the story from Coteries.

Cool, remember to post you impressions in an appropriate threat. I have mixed feelings though I didn't mind some major dislikes other people had.
