Hawke64 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Disco Elysium. I successfully discovered the corpse and vomited twice in front of it. I think, it would go better, if I was able to skip or at least speed up animations. God Eater: Resurrection. The controls feel off - like the avatar is weightless - after GE3, but I appreciate the lore. This time it's in cut-scenes, instead of the in-game encyclopedia. The story progresses slowly, I hope it'll pick up the pace soon.

Not sure if this will bit me in the ass later or not but I kinda felt like I ignored my instincts on that one and suffered heavy consequences.

vyvexthorne Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I got Shadow Tactics through Epic's free holiday game giveaway and it's pretty darn great. I had never heard of it before. One mission can feel like an entire game. A lot of experimenting and reloading. I also got TABS and Bad North through that same holiday giveaway which are pretty fun to mess around with. Nothing I have to heavily concentrate on so good for relaxing or beating boredom. Other than that I'm playing through Pillars of Eternity to make a good save for Poe2. I got a new PC about 8 months ago and I didn't bother transferring game saves. More fun to just make new ones. 3

the_dog_days Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Wrapping up the final chapter in Tokyo Xanadu ex+. Falcom is one of my favorite developers and Xanadu was the older staff letting the younger devs do what they want. Xanadu plays like an amalgamation of Falcom's flagship series (<---that's plural, but sadly English doesn't have a way of differentiating series (singular) and series (plural)) Trails and Ys. Like Ys it's action based, focuses on dungeon runs, and has some platforming. Similar to Trails it has orbal devices, master quartz, and quartz equivalents, all the npcs have things to say and it changes as time changes, there are bonding events and link levels, and character codex. I started this current playthrough almost a year ago. While I like the game I don't care for the combat, and the story is very linear. So much so I'm not sure if I'll ng+ when I'm done. Absolutely worth playing through once if you're a fan of either the Ys series or Trails.

So that and an AI that is just adequate (and cannot use morale abilities) require that you are always outnumbered to provide an iota of challenge. A bad foundational decision to have that in the game in its current form, but I guess "fans wanted it"... though they may have felt differently if warned that it would come with 4v8-12 drudgery. In this game, an ammo explosion automatically destroys the part, and the MG ammo is in the CT on the WHM-6R. I used to run a melee modded Banshee with max armor and nothing but +crit MGs. Good (broken) times. Chugging along in the BFGA2 imperial campaign. Tyranids launched a multi-pronged invasion but managed to only take a system that had just been lost to heretics. GG hivemind. I get the feeling the game is made much easier by having a friend control half the fleet, and I'm no space Zhukov. We may need to up the difficulty for next campaign. I'm really liking how distinct the different factions feel. Makes sense then, although I recall it being in his RT, as RT went then CT and then he died. Was still satisfying to get that and then one shot kill an Awesome right after with a head hit with 2 AC/20s. I should replay BFGA2 on a harder difficulty. Although that is doomed to fail as my tactics invariably reduce to keeping my ships compact and just forming a wall of fire. Works great on everything that isn't a Tyranid or Ork (AI doesn't really use bombs, or maybe just not on normal difficulty). Plugging along in WoW, although the invasions as a healer is a no-go so I have to group up with some random people to play. Always laugh at how my WoW guild only had 7 active members back in vanilla and we couldn't do anything but now everyone's gone but we could do stuff now. Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

Works great on everything that isn't a Tyranid or Ork (AI doesn't really use bombs, or maybe just not on normal difficulty). Perhaps it was another Warhammer variant? Since it was added to the game, I've only played with BEX 3025 which adds a ton of 'mechs, but I don't really know which ones are vanilla. As far as I know, an ammo explosion always destroys the part where it happens but, unlike in the tabletop, there is no spillover damage to the CT because the explosion doesn't actually do numerical damage. AI ability usage in BFGA is weird. It rarely uses even torpedoes, and I don't think I've ever seen it pop probes or bombs. Fighters, boarding actions and mobility abilities seem to be routinely cycled, however. Maybe it's a difficulty tier thing. Regardless, I'm enjoying the game a lot, but I wish it would let the guest purchase ships. Also digging how bad the Astartes are. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
