The only upside I can see to this is old D2 maybe possibly finally showing up on GOG. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a D2 remaster but it's almost a certainty that they will **** up by making it always online or something. At the very least, it'll require yet another launcher.

@Malcador Well, this industry was never shy to hide serious lack of work behind some flashy prerendered cutscenes 😄

Well that won't be work as in on game.  Wonder how long it takes to make one of those cutscenes though.

I knew a guy named Rodas (last name) who liked to work out all the time and was extra beefy swole and we called him Roidas

Coincidence or a complex trans-dimensional Illuminati Reptoids from Sirius B mystary? I know which way I'm leaning.

some CK3 news that you might missed if you prefer video format instead of reading:

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

While other publishers are busy building up their own services, the first one to get off Steam is apparently coming back...

Not really surprised and I would be even less surprised if Origin would disappear entirely in the future and/or that others would follow suit.

Building a better Steam than Steam hasn't exactly been proven quite as easy as many made it out to be, nor will it probably be quite as cheap as many expected it to be. Not to mention that people sooner or later get fed up with the insane fracturing of the landscape. With all these stores and their associated subscription services I would be entirely unsurprised if piracy was on the rise again, just like for audio/video content. Piracy is a service problem, after all, and service appears to be getting worse again.

Let's hope they don't pull a Square Enix and leave people without their games when they swap over to Steam, then say "No, we won't give you a copy of the game on the new platform, but here is a limited time discount voucher to buy it 20% off".

Say what you want about all the evil companies in gaming, but squeenix is the proven thief.

I was initially so very excited about this because I thought I could finally move my DA games over to Steam. But alas, apparently EA won't give you an automatic Steam code for your Origin games.

Reading that article and some others, it seems like that's exactly what they're doing.

Let's see if they go all the way and take their own servers down, the way Sqeenix did, so people can't use the installer anymore.

A side benefit of not having purchased anything from EA in nearly a decade (not because of some ethical or political stance, I just don't have interest in games they publish) is that this news doesn't matter to me at all. :wowey:
