Thanks for giving your opinion, I am not I see everything in the same way but its insightful and reasonable

Yeah, Im not sure whats so hard to believe either. I really do want: living stipend, free healthcare, mortgage reduction and school loan forgiveness. And it would be free to me because I have my pockets turned inside out and do not fall into the category of "the rich". Who doesn't want that?

But also many Democratic candidates have IMO offered many concerning policy ideas that you raise, so its not like you making them up

But as I have mentioned in the past these extreme left policy suggestions are expensive or unrealistic or a combination of both of these. They basically " too socialist"  if I can use a metaphor 8)

The Democratic candidates is where Im getting this from (Sanders, Warren, Yang). And how do we know it wont work before we try it? The top 1% own 99% of the wealth (or however the sound byte goes), and having been birthed, Im owed this stuff. Not a single soul in my sphere of influence counts as "the rich" so I think we should give it a solid 8 year run. The problem is, Sanders could die before it gets enacted and Warren is probably lying about it. So I think the choice is clear, vote Yang! Can I count on your vote BVC? Nobody will know or care that your not a US citizen.

Uh, I'm pretty sure Iran and Russia would be very pleased with the partial pullout. Whether they are happy with Turkeys actions though are another matter entirely.

A partial pullout does nothing for them, if it's replaced by a Turkish occupation that will be permanent. A full withdrawal might have benefits that outweigh a Turkish occupation but this is just a swap of one bad option (for them) with one that is almost certainly worse. From their point of view all of the really important areas- the Conoco refinery, Omar oil field, Tabqa Dam or the Al Tanf border crossing- still have US troops occupying them. The other important areas like the biggish cities of Hasaka and Qamishli already have government troops in them.

A reconciliation between the PYD and Assad was eminently possible based on events around Afrin and Aleppo- where Kurds maintain an insurgency against the Turks under government and Russian protection and have an Aleppo suburb with its own Kurdish flavour including an independent police force. There was no reconciliation with PYD areas in general because the US threatened to withdraw and let Turkey invade- which has happened anyway, of course- and because some of the arab forces in the SDF sponsored by Saudi won't reconcile. For the Turkish Settlement and Cleansing Buffer that possibility is gone now, and given Turkey's record probably forever.

Its come to my attention that this is apparently a real noodle scratcher. But I forgot one of the foundational tenets when communicating via text on the internet, which is "there are two kinds of people 1) those that cannot extrapolate from incomplete data 2)

So ima clarify point by point as best I can:

1) Monthly stipend; a candidate is offering 1k per adult in your household. For me this will equal 3k per month. This equals 36k per year. This equals 288k over the course of an 8 year presidency. For me, 288k is better than 0k. I cant think of any better way to explain that.

2) UHC. For me, getting free UHC is better than me paying medical/dental/vision insurance. I cant think of any better way to explain that.

3) Reduced mortgage. For me, paying 10% less on my mortgage is better than paying the full mortgage. I cant think of any better way to explain that.

4) School loan forgiveness. For me, paying nothing for my child's education is better than paying a lot for my child's education. I cant think of any better way to explain that.

I hope this rights the ship.

I think of copy of <<The Commissar Vanishes>> would be an apt retirement gift for Rudy Giuliani:

Quote
“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

-Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>>
Quote

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

You know what? I'm with Gifted. I've been busting my butt for 30 years. I work 50-60 hours a week on a flat salary that isn't real high. If I vote democrat maybe I'll get some free stuff. Hell, pay for my health care and give me some free money and I'll quit my job and retire right now. I've been paying other peoples way for too long. Time for them to pay MY way!

It's funny, I always imagined myself ending up in a Galt's Gulch but this is certainly another way to go!

Hello, Hurlshot. Welcome to Internet. Here, there's no middle ground between pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps 100-hour weeks FREEDOM without social benefits and FULL COMMUNISM where the state gives you boatloads of free stuff and lines you against the wall*.

Better even, this thinking seems to be becoming more and more widespread as people are more interested in scoring points than get anywhere in a conversation. There comes a point where you're more likely to get through to the person in front of you with your fists than with words. I think we reached that point cca 2016.

Enjoy your stay!

gd is knowing fundamental truism o' the libertarian maxim: TNSTAAFL.

you will pay more taxes and get reduced services elsewhere. tax the rich is a swell notion 'but utter unworkable in current incarnations, and even if such were workable, the President isn't actual the person who does any o' the stuff which would give gd a free lunch. Congress is the folks who writes the big checks. state, "time for them to pay my way," or "i want free stuff" is nothing but a sardonic way o' poking fun o' the folks selling patchouli scented smoke being blown in our faces.  Gromnir sees it and am certain gd does too. others?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand sardonic political remarks. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical reader's head. There's also Bill Maher's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Thomas Friedman literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike sardonic references truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Charlie Kirk's existential catchphrase "gimme free stuffz," which itself is a cryptic reference to Lenin's Russian epic Sovnarkom Gosplan decree. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Stephen Colbert's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, I DO have an I'm With Her tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
