marelooke
Got 3 days of free gametime from Blizzard, not sure if nice or desperate of them. Anyway, mostly been alternating between playing on the Conan Exiles server I set up and an official (PvE) server for comparison's sake., and trying to tune the former, of course. Docker images appear fine and reliable now, unfortunately haven't been able to figure out the server browser issue, which is really annoying as it means you need to enter the server details manually, twice: once where it checks server mods and then it restarts with those mods activated (probably can skip this step if single player mods = server mods), fails to automatically connect and then you gotta enter the server details again and it actually connects. Either way going to clean up the images and then post them, might toss them into the official forums as well in hopes they're either useful to someone and/or someone can help figure out the Steam issues. As for performance, it's generally, ok-ish, occasionally it desyncs and harvesting appears weirdly laggy, mostly noticeable with skinning (first action generally appears to not register, so you have to re-harvest). It's slightly worse than on an official server (which still have issues with it) but it's playable (though I have not attempted any real bossfights focusing mostly on building to see how the server handles big builds so I might reconsider that stance when I get murdered due to lag spikes :P) Performance issues might be memory related (as I mentioned previously) since I play with the server's console on my other screen and CPU cores rarely spike to 100% but memory consumption is rather high. According to Funcom 8GB should be enough for a 10 player server but I have my doubts that's actually the case. I'd been considering getting extra memory anyway so I might see if I can still get some of the correct type and whether that improves things. Another possible cause is the game throttling maximum (network) throughput per-player. I've already increased these parameters somewhat with limited success but I might try and bump them up some more. On the positive side I noticed that when playing on a dedicated server rather than single player physics actually work properly, both cloth, hair as well as the various dangly and bouncy bits. Makes it hard to go back to the static clothing from my single player game now. On the negative side some bugs that appear also in single player are a lot more common (like corpses going invisible) Edited July 27, 2019 by marelooke
the_dog_days
Playing a lot of Fire Emblem Three Houses. FE is already a slow game, being an srpg, and over the last several releases they've added more non-combat stuff. Three Houses is super slow. In Awakening there were sometimes up to 15 minutes between missions. In Fates sometimes up to 25 minutes. Now there's up to 50 between missions. I like the stuff they added, but when put all together, I kinda hate the whole. Wish I could just jump into the next mission like the old FE games. marelooke
Messed around some more with the Conan Exiles dedicated server. My base got to a decent size and stuff got kinda really laggy. CPU was still bored and machine wasn't OOM. Load didn't really go over 1.2 (which is still fine for a dual core, but most of the time was between 0.6 and 0.8) either either so not sure what's up with that (I'll go with "badly optimized software"). Willing to open it up if people are interested but something tells me that having multiple players might not be a good time. In hindsight I should probably just have tried loading my single player save on the server, something tells me my archway base wouldn't go over well... Either way, got around to cleaning up the Dockerfile and put it all on Github here, so if anyone has some beefier hardware lying around, there you go Edited July 29, 2019 by marelooke
Malcador
Moment of Silence reminds me of Alternativa, nice setting but not much else. Puzzles are barely so, I find that searching for hotspots is harder than anything else. Why has elegance found so little following? The reason for that is the Arano campaign was a KS stretch goal and not the centerpiece -- the game was conceived basically as a big sandbox, with the random contracts and traveling around as the meat. That's also the reason why they likely won't be making another long campaign like that, and their DLCs are focused on ancillary stuff. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast. Hawke64
Lucah: Born of a Dream I thought it was a Souls-like at first (there was a stamina bar), but it is more of a general hack&slash action-RPG. The key combat mechanic is parry, as the damage increases dramatically (~10x) on parried enemies. The Corruption system slightly discourages exploration, because the bar fills with time slowly and much faster upon death, and the bad (?) ending triggers when the meter hits 100%. Keyrock
I've been playing HITMAN 2. This series is my jam and this is one of the better games in the series, classic and reboot. It's pretty much the same game as the 2016 reboot, just slightly prettier and with a little bit more interesting levels and missions. The biggest knock on the game is that the combat isn't the greatest, but that's mostly a moot point for me since I'm all about getting silent assassin. I will admit that trying to salvage stealth gone horribly wrong can also be thrilling in its own right, but my goal is always to have zero combat. I'm on the 5th mission (of 7 I think). Once I finish the main story I have a metric ****ton of escalations to do and also to go through missions again and better my score, get silent assassin, suit only, and figure out how to do some really creative and fun kills. Plus there are the elusive targets. 1 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks

Next goal is Abyssion, then grind Kratos to level 100 and finish game on Hard or Mania difficulty for respective trophies, to finish all my goals for the current playthrough. 2 Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Malcador
Still grinding along through Moment of Silence. Game has some weird design or at least it feels so to me with respect to the movement, dialogue trees. Borders of some screens isn't really clear and can end up snapping back and forth between two perspectives. Main character runs slowly too and the travel's pretty tedious. Dialogue also works very weirdly, find myself talking to characters about new things apropos of nothing at all or mentioning people that have never been introduced. Glad I paid under $10 for this, even if the setting is interesting and I like the backgrounds. Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
Mamoulian War
Kratos is now level 100 After checking some of the other requirements for trophies, I have decided to add two more tedious goals to current playthrough, before getting to Final Boss. One of the goals is finally done, but maaan, getting 1million casino chips for a trophy which is based purely on luck... *sighs* I think I spent 2 and half hours hitting the lever, just to get the required chips... Enough time wasted with ridiculous low chances to win, that off-put me much enough from real world casinos for the next 20 years and made me even bigger opponent of “surprise mechanics” The final task which still awaits me, is Figurine book for Genis’ title. Lot of encounters and lot of stealing involved in it. I need 54 pellets, 57 fine pellets and 66 super pellets for figurine smelting, which need to be stolen from various mobs, and 85 rare pellets, which can be thankfully purchased in Altamira for Casino Chips. 2000 a piece. I still have over 800k from that silly trophy, so at least I do not need to farm these from a rare spawn in Derris-Kharlan... 1 Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Maedhros
Playing Football Manager 2019, as Cabinteely - an Irish team I know nothing about. My long term goal is having the Irish league become a real competetor to the Premier League. I've cheated a bit, by having Man Utd spend all their money every transfer window so far, solely on players from Irish teams. Should help all the teams improve their training & youth facilities at least (the reputation of the teams are so low that no truly great players wants to join us).
