Is there any special occasion?

Yes and no, my extended family always comes around summer time and Christmas. They are all from my father's side of the family, however my godfather is on my mothers side and I don't really interact with that side of my family all too much.

This week is going to be harder than I thought, was almost impossible going to sleep yesterday, really hard staying asleep once I did fall asleep, but really easy "waking" up.

My comic store, which I have been frequenting for 30 years, is not closing after all.

All is well in the world.

I remember years ago, going to Copenhagen and browse through the comics at Fantask was awesome. Wonder if it still exists...

People have been shooting off fireworks everyday for over a week. I don't know how much more my dogs can take. Considering calling the cops as fireworks are illegal here but since I also shot off illegal fireworks when I was a kid I'm hesitant. Though back then I only did it on July 4th because I had more consideration than to start shooting them off in June.

This is a common issue we see in SA and often hotly  debated. We always use to make use of fireworks at Guy Fawkes but from about 15 years the general sentiment has changed because of the real harm and distress it causes to animals. Personally no one I know uses fireworks anymore but its still allowed on certain celebrations like Diwali which is a Hindu religious celebration but even then using fireworks is vastly reduced. I dont see any  contradiction  with changing your view on this as that's one of the reasons we grow as a society...we learn how to be better and adopt new views if they are constructive and positive. You  should call the police and report the usage of illegal fireworks because its the law and the right thing to do

Here is a good article that explains why fireworks are so harmful to dogs and other animals

Other animals including humans, as fireworks can cause panic attacks for many people with mental illness, especially those who suffer from PTSD (from combat or otherwise).

You right and this is often overlooked, fireworks can distress human beings due to a myriad of reasons and on a number of levels and is another justification to limit there usage

I never go out on July 4th. I don't want to leave my dogs alone, but then that's true of every other day. Fireworks are a non-issue where I live. The nearest town with a display is over twenty miles ( 30 KM give or take)  and with just one other house within a mile of me I would barely hear gunshots let alone fireworks. I don't go out because I hate crowds and these things tend to draw a lot of people.

Besides.... feels like a NetFlix kind of day anyway.

Got a new grill yesterday and today we had a crazy unexpected hailstorm just after I started cooking.

Nice, we expecting some new, cool meal recipes and  in the Food Thread 🥙

Can you post a photo of your grill so I can see what it looks like,  in SA people dont generally use grills but use a Weber for braais\barbecues and they look like the photos below . I admire the way you have these elaborate grills in the USA

I grew up with a grill made from a trash can so I'm not all that picky with my grills. I went big my first and last time getting a serious business grill and was disappointed. My wife is the more discerning one and she picked out a Traeger which I'd say is more of an appliance than a true grill. I mean, you have to plug it in to use it and it doesn't take wood or charcoal either. It takes these tiny little wood pellets that you load into like a side compartment and then it's all buttons and dials so it's also really hands off.

How does that work compared to a real smoker?

The smoker setting worked really good. I smoked some ribs for several hours and they came out great. Much better than the smoker on my old grill but I've never had a separate dedicated smoker so take that with a grain of Lot's wife.

felt this one like crazy, even though this county is on a different plate than most of CA ... last time we rode a big P-wave was April, 2010, in the drive-thru ... cashier and I looked at each other in a most peculiar way ... tonight was just me, milk and cookies

I really am feeling the benefit of getting back to gym, I started going back to gym about 3 months ago and I stopped going actively for about 2-3 years before that

Anyway Im now doing  50 minutes of cardio 4-6 times a week and especially on the treadmill I can feel how much fitter I am. I have gone back to gym with an approach  as it being a lifestyle choice which means I wont stop again and become lazy 🏃‍♂️

Had the most boring pnp session I've had in a long time. The only non-snowflake character in a group of very snowflakey people doing very impressive feats. In an astral world, sort of.

Came to work at 7:15. The nightshift was done at 9:50, now it's 9:59 and I've basically done all the hard work for the day. Just the arrivals to sort out as they come.

**** me, I'm so bored already...
