I was all like, "YAY, got the IT dep at work to open websites for me" and then I was; "like... wait. They're all asleep at this time... ;_; "

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. I bought a new truck. I went with the GMC Sierra 1500. off road & towing package. I  have an appointment tomorrow to get the bed coating and cover put on. Jeez it's expensive to buy a vehicle these days

So... been gone a while. Lost my job last month, have an offer letter for a new job (about 7k less per year). Added another cat to my family and am examining my options for the future. Have four more interviews this week that I'm hoping turn into something, and I need to replace my 20 year old acrua integra with something newer. Hopefully the interview with a dealership for an Ops Administrator will get me some traction.

Good luck, Calax! What neck of the woods are you living in now?

In other news, I was surfing this page of weird genetics and it turns out I have sectoral heterochromia. My right pupil is half brown / half black. I always just called it my crazy eye. :shrugz:

I'm outside minneapolis with a house/mortgage and everything.

Newest model I'm about to edge highlight. I hope somewhere down the line I look at this and don't think "Man, the half-and-half stripes and diamonds scheme looks stupid" because these guys are a bastard to paint once all the pieces are glued together.

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

Found out today that I've got a reputation for being the bosses worst nightmare and the workers friend. Also a grouchy bastard apparently. XD

Best day at work in a long while so far!

Hey Calax glad to hear from you again! Good luck on your upcoming interviews. If anyone is past due for a good break it's you.

Find it amazing how much one meeting can do to sap my will to go on at work.  Then I remember I have FOUR of them tomorrow.

I just took a truck load of hampers full of veggies from the garden to the farmer's market in Covington. I've got $174 burning a hole in my pocket now. But now I have to can or freeze everything I didn't sell.  Busy, busy.

Man, I'm so tired already all day long... can't get anything productive done. I was even sleeping for three hours this afternoon and that's usually not what I'm doing... like... at all.

Went to a friends place for a get together. We were firing an air rifle and I managed to get to close to the scope, giving myself a wonderful gash above my eyebrow.

First time I've ever felt blood dripping down my nose.

Today I’m starting my cigarette free summer. I promised my family not to smoke at least three months, hope it helps me quit at all. It's the first time I try to quit and  I’m very excited now, but QuitSmokingCommunity says the first day is the easiest, so wish me luck, please.

Went to a memorial service at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery this morning. Didn't really want to but the whole VFW chapter was there so I thought I should. Just got home. Spending the rest of the day smoking jerky, drinking iced tea and catching the Marlins/Nats game on the radio.

Having made many friends through therapy and support groups, sometimes life can get a little weird. For example, this text conversation:

Her: Hey, I'm in town this week if you want to hang out!

Me: Cool, where are you staying?

Her: The psych ward, I'm on suicide watch.
