baldurs_gate_2 Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Pssst be quiet! Because the devs think maybe, don't buff the rangers pet, nerf the chanter summons! 6

AndreaColombo Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Pssst be quiet! Because the devs think maybe, don't buff the rangers pet, nerf the chanter summons! I would actually not be surprised if they made the Chanter's dragon as bad as Aspect of Galawain... "Time is not your enemy. Incendax Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 For the amount of points you can pump into a ranger pet, yeah. The pet should be much nastier if invested into. But chanters could use an overhaul in general. They are too passive and there is little reason to invest in many invocations.
wanderon Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Seems kInd of like apples and oranges comparing a chanters short duration summoned creature to a ranger pet that's always there (unless you do the Ghost Heart) ? 1 Nomadic Wayfarer of the Obsidian Order Not all those that wander are lost...

If you want more active abilities, then use another class.
Marigoldran Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 Chanter summons have a 40 second duration with Int at 21-22. They're also free to summon and don't get bonded grief.
the_dog_days Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Chanter summons have a 40 second duration with Int at 21-22. They're also free to summon and don't get bonded grief. Does Int affect summons duration? It didn't in POE 1. I think that might be a bug.
Incendax Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 The whole point of the class is its passive buffs. If you want more active abilities, then use another class.I don’t want more active abilities, I want a reason to invest more than 2-4 points in the active part of the tree and all the rest into passives. So longer ability chains to make entire songs with lulls and crescendos.

Boeroer Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Note that power level increases the base duration of summons. It multiplies with the INT bonus. At least it did last time I checked (pre 1.1). Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Dorftek Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 (edited) Anyone else find this a little imbalanced? Kinda makes sense tho that a couple of ogres or a drake is nastier then a normal sized animal ;P Edited July 2, 2018 by Dorftek

gkathellar Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 ...also taking part in the discussion the wrong way if you ask me. Can't remember when sarcasm lead to a fruitful conversation. Pfff, whatever Boeroer. Poe's Law is just a myth, sarcasm is obvious in context-free forum posts. DUH. 2 If I'm typing in red, it means I'm being sarcastic. But not this time. Dark green, on the other hand, is for jokes and irony in general.

Manveru123 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Pssst be quiet! Because the devs think maybe, don't buff the rangers pet, nerf the chanter summons! Oh god, this made me laugh more than it should have. So true. But to be honest we can probably expect some kind of pet buff in the future. However, more important stuff needs to be changed first. As you can see in the Patch Notes, some very big changes await the Ranger: most importantly, Roots skills will have the Plant keyword! Not to mention the Evasive Fire damage nerfs. These serious changes are way more important than some silly pet. Pffft.
Boeroer Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Why do you mention Rot Skulls when you talk about Ranger? I mean I'm just curious if you use it on a Ranger somehow - and if yes: is it cool? Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Boeroer Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 (edited) I read Rot Skulls instead of Root Skills. Haha oh my. Major fail on my part, sorry. I blame it on sleep deprivation... But now seriously: did somebody try Rot Skulls with a Ranger? Should be quite cool with Driving Flight (=double AoE splash?). Edited July 2, 2018 by Boeroer Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
