Hello.. Is the persistant stuttering and frame drop issues on both the pc version and console versions going to be fixed at ANY point in the future? I mean we barely seem to get a patch to fix minor issues once every three months if lucky and you are not addressing folk like myself who have this issue on the pc and ps4 versions. My pc spec.. Gtx 1080 I7 8700k 32gb ddr4 Game is installed on a m.2 ssd Windows 10 Gsync enabled.

I've been playing the outer worlds and enjoying it but for some reason while running around I occasionally get debilitating stuttering and frame rate drops. I've restarted my ps4 and that helps temporarily but the always seem to come back. It is making combat borderline unplayable. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, i'll try to explain this: I can create a charatcer without any problem, the cutscenes run fine. Once i spawn in the game and am able to move i can walk without any problems. The moment i move the mouse to look around, the game freezes but unfreezes one i stop moving the mouse and displays my new view angle. So it kind of skips the "animation" of looking around. Impossible to play like that. Anyone had that and found a solution? Edit: I also noticed, that the GPU Usage drops to 0% upon moving the mouse. Game is currently unplayable for me. I also noticed, that the GPU Clock and Memory Clock drop to 2D values while moving the mouse. Playing via Windows App Store Basic System information: CPU: i7-3770 GPU: GTX1060 6GB RAM: 32GB DDR3 OS: Windows 10 64Bit The issue occurs in borderless window, windows and fullscreen DxDiag.txt

Bug: When summoning minions in combat, the game will stutter. Repro Steps: 1. Enter combat with something 2. Summon a minion 3. Observe stutter Important notes/Required Conditions: 1. Must be first time to summon that particular minion in that gameplay session. It will not stutter again in future summons until game has been closed and restarted. 2. This can and does happen per individual minion. as such if you "minion dump" by summoning several minions at once, the stutter can last for a full second or more. Subjectively: this feels very crippling in more challenging battles. 3. This affects chanter summons, item summons, and priest summons that I have confirmed so far. Edit: 4. This also seems to affect spells that summon a minion conditionally such as Ninagauth's Killing Bolt's Spectre summon on kill. Speculation: I suspect the code for loading the minions into combat is causing the stutter. The game appears to stop, process their load into combat, and then continue. As the stutter is noticeable and impactful, especially for minion builds, this likely needs optimization. Of course, having worked some QA in the past this could also be a bug and not optimization. Everything can always be a bug lol . Caveat: I am still running on non-SSD. Pity me lol . It's quite possible with an SSD this load-in time would not even be noticeable depending on how the code is structured. The rest of my system should be fine or even good as you should be able to see in the attached dxdiag. DxDiag.txt

Hopefully, people are still visiting the Pillars 1 forum. I really need some help. I am trying to replay Pillars of Eternity 1 while I wait for the bugs in 2 to be ironed out and I am suffering from periodic stutters every 30 seconds or so. The framerate's almost locked at 60 everywhere but it still stutters. It's quite annoying. Doesn't matter where I am, it still stutters. This and Pillars 2 are the only games I am having issues with on my system. Everything else runs fine. My system specs: OS: Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) CPU: i7 3770K (overclocked or not, it makes no difference) GPU: Geoforce GTX 1060 6GB (I have tried switching this with an older GTX 780. No change in stutter) Storage: 1TB SSD RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3 Motherboard: Asrock Z75 Pro3 I do not have a Gsync Monitor. I have a "Generic PnP 60hz Monitor" Temps never go above 60 degrees Things I have tried: Vsync On/Off Lowered setting to the lowest it was possible to go. Capped framerate to 30 Ran game as administrator Tried running the game with each different compatibility setting Verified game cache with steam Updated nviida drivers Complete uninstall and reinstall of the game Tried the different launch parameters (-force-d3d11, -force-opengl) Double checked that the game was using my actual GPU. Temporarily disabled my integrated gpu to force the game to use of my dedicated gpu Ran with high cpu priority Fiddled with the cpu affinity (disabled and re-enabled the working cores to trick it into using my other cores, which HAS worked for different games before.) Overclocked the GPU Underclocked the GPU Removed any and all overclocking from GPU and CPU Tried to disable any non windows services Made sure everything else was closed with task manager before running the game. Checked to make sure I was using "Maximum Performance" power option. Disabled both Steam Overlay and the in-game telemetry. Turned off all my monitoring software(MSI Afterburner). Temporarily disabled my antivirus disconnected my ethernet cable removed any usb devices removed audio devices (certain older games crash when using certain audio devices) I don't know what else to do. Some people with lesser hardware are getting better performance while others with stronger hardware are getting worse performance. I am welcome to and appreciate any suggestions you might have. Hi, I made a post here previously about a strange issue where the game kept freezing for a second every 30 seconds or so. I decided to revisit the game and for the most part the game runs fine. However I am getting a few performance issues. Firstly the game will have a 0.5 second freeze when a NPC starts talking (Text above them in a city or the keep). Also this freezing issue can happen when something loads in. When my chanter summons skeletons the frame rate will drop. In Defiance Bay after entering the city, the frame rate drops down very low where all of the civilians are talking near the south gate entrance. I love the game by the way. I just would like to know if I can make changes to make the gameplay more smooth, or if these are known issues. Small things like this can draw me out of the game. Thank you My PC Spec: i5 2500k Nvidia 980 GTX 16 GB RAM SSD drives

Hello, I'm experiencing periodic microstutters on 2 systems I have. They are a 980Ti SLI / 6700K and a laptop with a 1080. They are best described as rhythmic / periodic stutters every 32 seconds on both my systems playing with any setting: vsync On/Off , Gsync On/Off , Graphics Low/High, 120Hz/60Hz, FrameCap On/ FrameCap Off The stutters are so annoying gave up playing because I start anticipating them on both my systems which is a real shame. I have seen other posts with this same behavior. I timed the stutters with a watch and they occur every 32 seconds. I do hope Obsidian sees my post and addresses this issue that is plaguing many users. If anyone/Obsidian Devs needs any more information about this problem I will be glad to provide it.

Frame rate sudden drop
frank_jerry posted a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Hello PoE community! I am having a very annoying issue. Every 20-30 seconds my frame rate will drop to 47-50 from 60. It will only do this for 1 second and then go back up to 60. Other than that it is usually at 60 the whole time. I have vertical sync on so that whenever it does this I get noticeable stutter. This completely brings me out of the game and will bug me after a while. My PC Spec: i5 2500k Nvidia 980 GTX 16 GB RAM SSD drives -
This seems to get progressively worse until it takes about a minute to disarm traps. The game stutters more and more when disarming traps until eventually it freezes for 10-20 seconds. This only happens when disarming traps, and the only issue I'm experiencing. The rest of my computer seems to continue normally (ie: a video, or audio continues playing while this stalling happens).

Stuttering/Frame Rate Drops
icer22x posted a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
When I first start the game and I load new assets on screen (cast a spell for the first time, open inventory, open new chests, engage new enemies, start new dialogue with new NPCs, open new doors, etc.) my frame rates PLUNGE drastically and the game begins to stutter for a about a second. Considering I am encountering new items/areas/NPCs all the time, this is a very annoying issue. It really destroys my experience with this beautiful game. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with Steam or if it is patch related, but it seems other uses are having similar problems with no solutions. Has anyone been running into the same problems and if so, what have you done to remedy it?- 3 replies
