Funny thing is, the fighting game community is MUCH more diverse than average. In terms of diversity, fighting game tournaments blow sites like Kotaku out of the water. Which is hilarious, given how much whining Kotaku does about diversity in the FGC. Well the fighting game community is largely black guys playing games made in Japan. You should all know that Japan doesn't give a **** and that black guys for the most part don't care as long as you're good. *shrug* At least that's the case here in the North Eastern US.

Somewhat, yes. Definitely some genres are more space-mariney than others, but it is a systemic problem IMO, in that the exceptions tend to stand out. As a thought experiment, why don't you write down a list of, say, 30 games you've enjoyed over the years, and then underline the ones which had a non-white, non-male default protagonist, regardless of genre or whether they even have a protagonist. I just did. My tally: One. What if they have a lot of protagonists? I play Romance of the Three Kingdoms series and everyone is Chinese, but no one is the protagonist. Does that count?

I agree. Luckily it's not. It's dictated by Obsidian and the altered backer content was done with the complete consent of said backer. Some say Obsidian would have changed it even without his consent, but it's dumb to be angry at Obsidian over what ifs. Quit playing when that happens rather than before that happens.

Can you respec?

Under these circumstances; sure. You might have been screwed by the patches. Hm, I didn't even think of that before. -

If it loses you as a fan, then I'd have to say this: responding to an overreaction by trying to top how much of an overreaction it was with an even bigger overreaction on your part is, by definition, pure and unadulterated derp. No longer being a fan of a company that lies to me and the people who funded its last project is not "pure and unadulterated derp". It's a very sensible position. When did they lie to you or the backers? -

That's not how Firedorn says it went down. According to him Obsidian said they'd keep it if he wanted them to. All the information we have suggests you are wrong, but please tell me what you see that we don't. -

To some extent. I like nearly all the Fire Emblem games. 8 has it's strengths, but as I said it's not one of the better ones. Too open, not linear enough. Grinding is too viable. -

Why aren't you happy? The backer didn't get screwed. Isn't that what you wanted? -

Actually, there was a choice. They asked me if I wanted to change in light of what happened. I chose to change it so that they can concentrate on the game instead of this PR nightmare. They weren't going to change it, they asked ME if I wanted to. I can find another platform to write my controversial crap, and I will. They, on the other hand, did the right thing and allowed me to decide the fate of the epitaph. I chose to turn into something that made fun of the bitch-bastards that were complaining. They went above and beyond what I would have expected them to do. Now that we've got the real facts from Firedorn himself can we move on? I hope some one get's that phone; cuz' I friggin' called it! Yes, I stole that line. -

deadname?Name before she transitioned. Gets hurled at transfolk a lot. Wouldn't it be Birthname? As in the one his parents gave him? Well now it's dead to her; I guess. I kinda like the name Erika. Reminds of Fire Emblem 8. Not that that's one of the better Fire Emblem games. Not linear enough. Yes, Fire Emblem is BETTER when it's linear. Don't care how much people liked Awakening, it was too open! No strategy was needed cuz' you could just grind your way through. Screw that game. What was with the characters from other Fire Emblem games being in anyway? That's some bull crap. Ike should not be in the same universe as Marth. Speaking of Marth, why is it that Ike get's an English voice actor in smash, but Marth's stuck talking in Japanese? Then again, Ike's voice acting is really bad, so maybe Marth not getting a voice actor in English is a good thing. Bad voice acting is more tolerable when it's in what is to me; jibberish. Look what she did by being named Erika. Now every time I think about this issue I'll be thinking of Erika and thus Fire Emblem 8. BTW: This post is very on topic! -

I dont know if you noticed it but they are using it to insult this person because they are upset. Just like she wants to kill all men because she is frustrated and upset. That doesn't make it any less rude. -

I know, Josh Sawyer never pays any attention to me either. It's very depressing. Josh is apparently too busy feeding his morbidly obese cat. Seriously am I the only one that can't get over the size of that thing? Yes. -

We'll never know what would have happened. I'll be mad at Obsidian when they actually do something wrong; not when they might do something wrong in what if world. -

You can't guarantee anything, but your reasoning seems to be lacking. If Obsidian was doing this to appease the SJW; then why would they approve this more offensive version where SJW's are insulted in the joke? Also, if they were trying to avoid a stink they wouldn't have done a thing. Because it ain't about outrage, what SJW's want is not what they claim they want. What they want is the knowledge that whenever they cry, companies will spin around their finger so they can feel comfy. Is is about power, not inclusivity. Believe it or not; this isn't about the SJW at all. All that matters is whether or not the backer got burned (so to speak) by Obsidian. If Obsidian made the change with the backer's approval; then they did nothing wrong. Period. -

According to Badler he was involved in the process so it's safe to assume they asked him to change it and he agreed. If he said no, they likely wouldn't have changed it. If he had no say on this it then Obsidian wouldn't have let him rewrite a new version where he makes a joke at the expense of the SJW. EDIT: I suppose it's possible he had no choice, but that seems really far fetched. -

No. It's a bunch of anti-SJ idiots throwing a fit, as usual. Anyone who thinks this has anything to do with censorship is an ignorant tool. Obs did the right thing. *Gets the popcorn* I don't know if Obsidian did the, "right" thing, but they certainly did nothing wrong. The backer's content was changed with the backer's consent after all. -
