EI Mod and my opinions
Namutree replied to Mdalton31's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nope. Tank & Spank pwns all. I've had bosses steamroll me when I tried simple tank and spank, on Hard. Then you weren't Tanking & Spanking well. EDIT: I just want to make this clear. Despite how I talk about PoE's flaws; I really like the game. More than I expected. I obviously just don't mention what's been done right. Most of my gripes with PoE are similar to Sensuki's, but they bother him more than me. -

I actually said it should have lower than average attack for it's level. Meaning a high CON on a high hp class could still tank it a bit. What those hyper defense characters would need to do is take off their armor (and switch weapon sets if using a shield) for better dps as their armor now hurts more than helps. -
Namutree, since forever now, whenever I scroll past your avatar real quick, at the corner of my eye, it looks like Momo from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I felt I should tell you. It was important to me. HA! I thought I was being seen as the kick ass Samus dealin with Ridley, but now I've been demoted to Momo. Time for a new avatar!

Good idea. Let us stack identical items. Oh, and let us name the items we enchant! That'd be awesome. -

and all those IE games he likes were based on the DnD ruleset... duh. With alterations due to the fact it's RTwP. Duh. How does introducing mechanics meant for turn-based into a RTwP game constitute "moving forward" exactly? -

What does this have to do with anything? Who cares about D&D? -

This is exactly what I suggested in my expansion suggestion thread. Yes, we need enemies that can't be defeated with every strategy. There need to be some hard counters and hard resistances. Players should have to adapt rather than come up with a single battle plan, and use it in all battles to win against everything. -

WTF are you talking about? I said a new enemy that ignores 90% of your defense. The fact that the Tank & Spank strategy works all the time is one of PoE's biggest problems. This would be an easy fix to that issue by forcing the player to readjust their strategy according to their foe's special features. Creating an AI that's unique to a specific enemy good enough to make a difference is completely unreasonable from a development standpoint, and I don't even see how it even could address the issue anyway. Better AI wouldn't change that once you find a good team strategy; you can (and should) just do the same thing over-and-over-and-over. Unless these new monsters are hard counters then adding them is a waste of development time. Fighting them will be the same as fighting any of the other monsters as the same tricks work on all of them. -
Hard mode is too easy.

You must be really disappointed with PoE considering all the work you put into it. -

How do you have the stronghold on act 1? Act 1 ends when you get the stronghold. -

I'm suggesting that some of the new enemies in the new areas that will be added in the expansion should be hard counters to certain character builds and have a hard weakness. I'm not suggesting that there should only be 1 way to beat these guys, but rather that standard tactics shouldn't work. The kind of enemies where you have to think, "Hmm... How do I approach this." Rather than the Tank & Spank (A term I'm stealing from Luckmann) that basically always works. I'm just being OCD. I don't like 11 classes. It's not an even number. When you see the class select at character creation the list is uneven as there six classes at the left, and five at the right; it just pisses me off cuz' it ain't even. This one is kinda a joke request so go ahead and ignore it really. -

Or maybe people just didn't think it was worth finishing, like me. I assure you I have zero problem with the difficulty. Here is a nice summary from felipepepe The actual reason why I haven't finished it is I just don't care about the story. I'm not interested in finishing it because I just couldn't care less. Couldn't give a damn about the antagonist either. I also think the combat is boring, exploration sucks and itemization sucks, so if I'm not enjoying the story or the gameplay, why bother? You haven't finished it!? The plot gets better around the very end. You're right though that the story doesn't do anything to make you care. I had the same issue with Kotor 2. The story needs a more personal element. BG1: Sarevok kills Gorion and hires dangerous bounty hunters who attack you at every turn. Then frames you at Candlekeep and gets the Flaming Fist to go after you. Then swears he will kill you eventually once you foil his plot in Baldurs Gate. BG2: Irenicus kidnaps you, tortures you (which you even see on screen), kills friends of your companions, gets imoen kidnapped, annoys you in your dreams, takes your soul (which even has mechanical consequences), and then sends you to hell. God I wanted to kill this SOB. PoE: Well, I won't say, but it doesn't amount to the above. -

Oh, one more thing. We need identical items to stack in shops. I don't want to see a giant list of crappy shields that I sold every time I go to the shop.- 55 replies

It's not a job, but if you need something productive to do in the meantime; I'd suggest growing edible veggies at home. http://greatist.com/health/best-plants-to-grow-indoors

Do you enjoy pain? If you've read all of those you have definitely walked a hard road. I found Atlas Shrugged a real chore to read even though I enjoyed it for the most part. Foutainhead could easily have been condensed and still made it's point. Her writing was ponderous to say the least. I liked Anthem. I actually have an Anthem comic that's pretty neat too except the cover is poorly drawn for some reason. I thought The Fountainhead was kinda good except the first bit where Roark's swimmin' around naked (weird intro). Oh, and the sorta fake rape part. That was friggin' weird. I hated Dominique; she didn't seem perfect to me, just a condescending b*tch to everyone. Sure, Roark thought he was better than everyone, but at least he didn't troll them.

If a bigot says something; that does not make what he said bigoted. Christian bigots have said that the bible forbids homosexuality and has verses that commands homosexuals be put to death. Does that mean saying that the bible has verses that command homosexuals be put to death is bigoted? Because the bible does say that. Striker might honestly believe that homosexuality is unnatural; not that it's bad.
