  1. And if the role someone wishes to play is a Wizard with a small amount of martial training, you have just prevented them from playing the role they want to. And if the game is explicitly set up with no multi-classing, who in their right mind would expect to play a wizard with a small amount of martial training in the first place?
  2. Okay, well that makes it slightly less random.
  3. The problem is they have a short deadline. Anyone not insured by February is subject to fines taxes for not enrolling - whether the system was too crap to allow them to register or not.
  4. Why does it defeat the purpose of classes? That is an extremly rigid interpretation of a simple RPG mechanism, in my opinion. Because it is a game. For a class system to work, there has to be some differential, meaning and choice to the classes. What is the purpose of multiclassing? If its to allow the player more flexibility in creating their PC then you're actually going against the point of having a class based system. The advantage of a class based system is to create certain predefined roles that a player can fill and have those roles come with inherent limitations and advantages. An argument for flexibility is an argument for a classless system. BTW, the suggestion of the engineer who becomes a fighter is really more in line with what D&D used to call dual classing as opposed to multiclassing. Multiclassing is when you advance as a fighter, mage and thief at the same time. Weirdly, I'd be more okay with a "dual classing" mechanic since I believe it doesn't violate (as much) the choices that should be part of a class based system than a multi class system but would prefer either a strict single class system or a classless, skill based system, to be honest.
  5. You may well be right, but it's ass-backwards. Backers are treated like anybody else because there are folks who aren't backers. Huh? This should be the primary forum for... everything. On Facebook, for example, PE is just... tumbleweed. If the corollary of this is a site / content / forum for Backers, where the hell is it? I remain baffled by the strategy. Except there isn't one. Monte maybe if you were more supportive in our campaign to get chainmail bikini's and Romance in PE the backer site would be in place...just a thought ? I thought Monte was pro-chainmail bikini already...? Or are you suggesting he be pro romancing a chainmail bikini...?
  6. Wait a minute, you can't do a limit on a boolean. Also 2032 is when 32-bit time_t runs out, so that was a concern as well. Shhhh...nobody knows that here. Also...the whole caveat of "sufficiently true" was already a problem. But never fear, I can assure you that 1 + 1 = 3 for sufficiently large versions of 1.
  7. What's with the ebay link?
  8. I don't think its trolling. I just don't agree. Its up to Obsidian to decide if there are merits in the expressed concerns or not.
  9. Gutenberged To be fair, you know his name is Roger from the chapter title.
  10. And ironically, we also just found out that the Mayan Calendar was calculated by Uinal Katun who forgot to carry the 2 and thus the 2012 end of the world was meant to be 2032*. *this is factually correct as x approaches infinity for sufficiently true values of x
  11. I think its a given that every post here is stored in a huge database. Also, I suspect Monte Carlo is now on their "watch list" now...
  12. Puppet Master VI: Curse of the Puppet Master Not a good film; confused continuity, poor character development, and a rubbish end.
  13. You work well with others and often fix problems quickly. Your romantic relationships are often bungled You are Geordi LaForge Geordi LaForge 65% Uhura 50% Chekov 45% Deanna Troi 45% Data 42% Leonard McCoy (Bones) 40% Beverly Crusher 40% Will Riker 40% Spock 35% Mr. Scott 35% Jean-Luc Picard 35% James T. Kirk (Captain) 30% Worf 30% An Expendable Character (Redshirt) 30% Mr. Sulu 15% Hmm, I imagine if I wore miniskirts and rated myself higher on singing My Uhura-ness would have topped my Geordi-ness. Also nice to know that I'd make a better Captain than expendable character.
  14. Mine is that communication in general seems to have suffered/is improvable. A nice, loose and honest atmosphere can do wonders between fan-dev communication. You don't have to follow rules dictated by marketing. "honest"? Have Obs been dishonest or fostering dishonesty in their communication? Actually that's my hand. Sorry. You always were a handy fellow. Although why you put you hand there on poor Monte I'll never know... They could be working on the stuff they want to reveal to finalize it so they can show it to us sooner... Or they could secretly be trying to figure out how to admit they blew all the money on buying tracks of land on the moon... Or its possible no one's checked back on the thread since BAdler posted it... Or aliens kidnapped the entire Obsidan team and are preparing the ritual probings... Or the Backer Website was tested, became sentient, called itself "Skynet" and now Obsidian is spending all of their time fighting against the robot revolution...
  15. We get updates all the time here and through Kickstarter. Josh posts here, in various threads too. Since I don't facebook I can't really say much about that area. What I'm saying is that I don't think its "wrong" that some information or screenshots find their way first to other areas because - the game still has to be hyped to potential buyers.
  16. My general thought on multi-classing is that it defeats the purposes of classes and you'd be better served by a classless system if you want to be able to cherry pick skills/feats or similar.
  17. Yes, that's really weird. Probably the weirdest thing in this whole situation. Sawyer makes so many "updates" via Formspring and he's active in quite a few forums, but not his own? (or at least the codex, for that matter?) Yes, Ropekid likes chewing the fat with lots of people. Mainly the ones not on this forum. But...I've only met Josh in person once! And it was a short joking thing and then I played the NWN 2 demo! It was totally innocent! Seriously, I assumed that they couldn't talk about it because it wasn't done and they simply didn't want to take the wind out of the sails by talking about something that wasn't ready to roll out to the backers (be it pictures, demos, poetry, whatever). And to be honest, as backers they don't have to sell it to us in the way that they might want to get people to support it on the backend who didn't kickstarter it, so I'm not surprised information and pictures come out in other places.
  18. Varosha, San Zhi, Wonderland, and Cinncinatti's subway system seem ripe for filmic exploitation.
  19. Yeah I thought AoS was good too, possibly the best episode so far since the first.
  20. At some level, I acknowledge that I'm playing a game and there is no computer game that exists that can have unlimited flexibility. So I play what the game gives, not what I wished it gave. As long as its internally consistent, there isn't a problem.
  21. And here I figured you'd have made an NPC who got experience from killing things and thumbed their noses at the party who could only get quest XP. Sample Dialogue: gfted1 NPC: "See that goblin?" Goblin: "Hi guys!" Player character: "Yeah" Goblin: "...blurble..." gfted1 NPC: "3 XP. Suck it" EDIT: I suppose I should ObTopic, so to be honest I'd need to know a lot more lore and faction stuff to make this kind of decision. I'd like the NPC to feel interesting but also a part of their world (probably end up creating them the same way I'd my PC - in fact they might have been a PC idea if I weren't doing it as an NPC.)
  22. Oz, the Great and Powerful. Enjoyed it again. I like how they make the character multifaceted and really work through their character to make the story connect.
