As far as I know (and I welcome correction on this point), there's no such thing as an illegal citizen in the US. Naturalized citizens would have to be denaturalized to be deportable and citizens by birth can only renounce their citizenship, not be denaturalized. Legally at least (I know they're are cases where the courts have due to judicial error deported people).

Wouldn't the counter argument be that you're increasing the power of rural voters compared to city dwellers? In theory, under the popular vote system wouldn't everyone's vote count the same and failure to secure the popular vote be representative of a failure to have the backing of the majority of the people? Wouldn't that depend on how you changed it? Also the city dwellers should still have (gerrymandering notwithstanding) the vast majority of congressional representation and (if one just reverted to the old system) the largest portion of the state government representation that would end up choosing the Senators, but arguably the rural areas would have enough strength as a group to make sure the elected candidate couldn't forget that the state consisted of more than the big population centers - which is possible in the popular vote. But I wasn't really necessarily proposing a return to the old way, I just think there should be a way that still allows representation amid disparate population areas rather than disenfranchisement.

Does seem like in this day & age there should be a better way to do it - because I imagine almost every state of any significant size has the problem related to population dense areas vs more rural areas which may end up voiceless.

As I recall, the going theory against the existing system was that Senate positions could be bought/sold by negotiating with the people who ended up with a say in the election process. That said while there were a few historically contested election, there wasn't really proof at the time of widespread corruption but I can certainly see where it might be easier to bribe a few key state legislators than it is to sway the popular election. The other issue was electoral deadlocks in the state legislature that could prevent anyone being elected and the seat(s) remaining vacant which had been an issue, IIRC.

Thanks for the explanation, I honestly had never read anyone with an issue on the 17th Amendment before - not that that means anything, there's lots of things I've never read, but it did make me curious as to what the objection was.

Cover controversies aren't anything new (remember Heroes for Hire #13 from 2007?). I think given the last couple of years people make more of a note over things that reflect the ongoing internet debate of "sexism". I seem to recall at one point there were three projects - Revived Stormlands (Tyranny?) which I pegged as Vermont & Louisiana we know. That would leave the third as either Indiana or maybe the shelved Rhode Island? To be honest I can't remember when I read about the "three projects" thing. I suck at this Obsidian stalker business.

Personally I think its a little embarrassing that there no are NO active female members on this forum We dont have even 2-3 ? Its something we should be trying to understand and or change....people don't seem that concerned ? Do we know there are none? I was under the impression there were some women posting on the POE forum that I've never seen here in WOT. Actually very logical old fruit. If you only have a day left, you don't care about the consequences. So in your heart of hearts, you might be saying "I'll use my last day to get revenge or take what I want by force", right? Anyway, as others have stated, 24 hours just isn't long enough to do anything major. I couldn't even fly back to my country. The best you can really do is go to your favorite (nearby) place and spend time with loved ones. Of course it also means that if your remaining family was all in one area, you could kill them all without an issue as there would be no one left to punish (or if you can't kill them all but don't like them, you wouldn't care what happens to them so could do whatever crimes you want). In essence the punishment hinges on the idea that you don't want bad things to happen to your family.

In all seriousness, Bruce purports to be fine with prostitution and not fine with an open marriage. Even if they were honestly held opinions rather than the forum equivalent of Gawker clickbait (no surprise Bruce would defend them, they're peas in a pod) there's literally no point even arguing with someone that disconnected with reality; the level of cognitive dissonance that would be required to honestly hold both opinions renders it utterly pointless. I always thought of trolling as intentionally riling people up, not posting logical inconsistencies so someone will point them out. Learn something new everyday, I guess.

They forgot to use the blue "serial" color for Kirk Alyn (they instead use the motion picture color, green). I'm sorry but as far as I can tell those two statements are inconsistent, either Gawker did right, or they did wrong. You say you "can't blame Gawker" because Gawker is a trash media outlet - you are then absolving them of guilt, and you're absolving them of responsibility for their actions. Blame (v) assign responsibility for a fault or wrong. Absolve (v) to make (someone) free from guilt, responsibility, etc. Guilt (N) responsibility for a crime or for doing something bad or wrong You are saying "I can't assign responsibility for wrong to Gawker, but I also can't make them free from responsibility and guilt for doing something wrong". That's not consistent, and IMO its a terribly goofy position to take (particularly when you've already acknowledged in a previous post that Gawker wouldn't have the right to broadcast more "morally wrong" videos of murder and rape). I get it, you don't like Hogan and you don't think he's a morally good person. Lots of people agree with you. But that doesn't allow him to be a victim of a criminal act and not receive justice of some kind. PS - I like mercurial too. Capricious has more negative connotations to me (but that may be a context I provide than is there).
