  1. I thought about riding a train in the US once, then figured out I had to travel a day north-east by train to travel a day south-east by train to get where I wanted to go...as opposed to driving 5 hours north-east to the actual destination. Also all the cool trains like the 20th Century Limited ended their runs in the 60s. Maybe someday I'll tackle The Venice-Simplon Orient Express run from Paris to Istanbul since that's about as close as I'm going to get to the classic days of rail travel anymore...
  2. I believe this is the most recent update on this bug: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/90229-party-cant-choose-feats-at-level-up-in-quest-mode/?p=1871222
  3. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/90981-stuck-in-the-tutorial-bugbear-attack/ I approved it this morning, but I don't really have a good answer as to why you can't login.
  4. 1) Boomerang guy had surveillance boomerangs (which he used to spy on Incubus). He was also a fair fighter and shown to be able to break into places, so not without some skill. 2) Croc was still fighting when the SEAL guy left with the bomb to set it up.
  5. You should be able to play logged in, you just won't get gold (IIRC) and you won't have the progress saved. You don't need to turn the permadeath on to play. You should be able to drag the character to the left-most open circle to add them to the party. But you really should sort out the login issue first, which I don't know what it might be.
  6. I saw The Princess Bride in theaters. Which unless, I rented it on VHS, is the last time I watched it.
  7. Thank you! I'm very proud of it, I named it 'Conan', for it left a wake of blood and tears...
  8. My current job I don't actually have the degree for. Done okay in it for 7ish years. Fell into it because when the person who did have the degree left there was no one else who knew the practical day-to-day knowledge, so I became the interim guy and once I was interim guy it was far to embarrassing to think of hiring anyone else. My point is that there is this pressure to make a liberal arts degree mean job competence and it just doesn't. But the problem is that employers feel they need some gateway to keep the unwashed masses at bay. First it was a High School education, and once that became ubiquitous it became a college degree. Now I see signs that jobs are slowly moving from a Baccalaureate degree to a Masters as their minimum need to, again, create a dividing point. And then politicians begin sweating the whole thing because they need a job ready labor force to lure jobs for economic growth and by golly those High Schools and Colleges just aren't graduating people fast enough so they must be failing to educate people, by gum! We joke all the time at the university that eventually you'll need a Ph.D. to flip burgers at the rate things are going. Obsidian never mind the bollocks but are still, alas, waiting on the Sex Pistols.
  9. Could it be that he's not logged in or he Is he losing his connection to the network and thus progress isn't being saved?
  10. DeVry is accredited, though. By The Higher Learning Commission one of the US regional accreditors (ie one of the six major College accreditors). To be honest this is a question that a lot of colleges across the US are struggling with. Lets be clear, a Baccalaureate degree was never intended to be a benchmark for employment and as the US increasingly puts that burden onto the degree, there is an increasing desire (pressure) to move away from liberal arts education and more to job ready education.
  11. Are you dragging them to the left most open slot rather than a middle slot (even if the middle slot is circled)?
  12. The short version is there was a fix not tested before the last patch, but also Obsidian is not currently actively supporting quest mode at least until story mode is complete and fixed.
  13. 2 levels below the character level might be an issue.
  14. I think you can only get it back if you are in a situation where you've banished more cards of that type than you received in a scenario and are required to pull from the box or by changing your existing party w/new characters to a new party so it can be reachieved, then rebuilding a new party with a character who has it to transfer it to someone you want to have it then recreating your original party (? I seem to recall that was the suggestion but can't find the thread at the moment).
  15. I completed the challenge and it did work for me. I've seen similar reports of some people completing the challenges and others the same challenge not working. When you defeated a bane, you didn't get the accrual pop-up at all? Have you completed the Weekly Challenge yet? Is there anything else you can tell us about this?
  16. My favorite summation of the 'The Sign of Four' was "Sherlock Holmes rams a boat and shoots a dwarf".
  17. Hmm, they mentioned that they were working on a fix for this, however, in the bug fixes. I hope this doesn't mean they'd totally abandon it.
  18. Yes, this is a known issue in quest mode. The Devs mentioned they have worked on a fix but wasn't able to add it into the last patch.
  19. I'm not aware of any reoccurring villains from the series, but I haven't read all the issues...
  20. I thought there was a pop-up about the 5 chests when I opened the app explaining they were being given to all players. There was a second message but I don't recall it off the top of my head (I was too busy trying to get out of the message screen and go redeem my chests). I got only one set of dice (pink) and it appears to be added correctly (at least when I go to dice, it has 3 instead of 2).
  21. Oh okay, yes some people have reported that the weekly quest isn't clearing for them too (I haven't completed it yet so have no personal experience with it). I don't recall if a developer has commented yet so we're waiting to see what happens.
  22. The name specifically comes from the back-up comic in Whiz Comics #2 (Feb. 1940) called 'Ibis the Invincible'. This feature ran as a back-up to the 'Captain Marvel' (Shazam!) series for 155 issues of Whiz Comics (ending in 1953) and had an eponymous annual series for 6 issues (ending in 1948). The story and character were reportedly inspired, in part, by Universal's 1932 film The Mummy. This predates the 1940 start of the actual Universal Monster Films mummy, Kharis, in the film The Mummy's Hand. For some additional trivia, the actor playing Kharis in The Mummy's Hand, Tim Tyler, while primarily known as a Western star, would go on a year later and star as Captain Marvel in Republic's 1941 serial The Adventures of Captain Marvel. Another obvious inspiration was Lee Falk's Mandrake the Magician (first published June 11, 1934). Anyhow, 'Ibis the Invincible' was Prince Amentep an heir to the Pharaoh who was overthrown by an evil magician empowered by Set. Amentep had the Ibistick (a magical gift from Thoth) and saved his love, Taia, from being killed by the usurper's poison by putting her in suspended animation until the poison decayed and rendered impotent. He did the same with himself and he woke up in the 1940s in a museum as a display piece. He used his magic to escape and to save Taia again - as she had also woke up in a museum, but in war torn Europe. This being comic books, the pair took up a life fighting crime, Nazi's, Fifth columnists and supernatural entities that wanted to destroy the world. The theory on the inspiration for the name (since neither creator, Bill Parker or Bill Kingett were around when fandom began investigating the origins of these characters) is that it derived from the four famous pharaohs named Amenhotep. Ahmenhotep IV, rather famously, rejected the worship of Amun and is better known as Akhenaten - the pharaoh Egypt tried to erase from history and whose son eventually changed his name to Tutankhamen. Given the enduring fascination the US had with Howard Carter's find of Tutankhamen's tomb (it is part of the reason the original idea for a movie called Cagliostro about an undying Count Cagliostro trying to reunite with his reincarnated love was changed to be about an ancient Egyptian Imhotep trying the same for Universal's 1932 The Mummy, thus bringing the connections somewhat full circle). It is therefore considered very likely Amenhotep was used to base Amentep on given the public's familiarity of that time period's dynastic rulers and the other inspirations in the creation of the character. But the exact reason why Amentep was picked for the prince's name is, sadly, lost to history.
  23. As I understand it, this week's Weekly Challenge is to complete 3 Daily challenges. If you complete 3 Daily Challenges in the 1/2 - 1/8 time period, you should receive the weekly challenge reward. The reward is listed at 100 gold, but I believe the "Reward is actually 500!" in the Weekly Challenge title implies that they'll actually reward 500 gold for completing this week's Weekly Challenge (in addition to any rewards for daily challenges). Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are asking?
  24. Dang...shot down suggesting my own evil twin name. Oh the humility...!
