  1. Yeah, this. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why people are singling out POE 2 for being too easy. I wouldn't be able to name a crpg that's harder than POE 1 & 2. Maybe you had a different experience, but mine was fast mode auto combat. PoE1 is much more difficult, not even comparable at the moment. BG-trilogy is more difficult even without mods. D:OS is definitely much more difficult, although it did suffer from crazy power creep. The Witcher games are way more difficult, even the 3rd game and even in the end since you still, no matter how OP you are, have to dodge those instagibs and spam that fast attack till your fingers bleed. I was literally away from keyboard fast moding boss fights in Deadfire on the hardest difficulty. There is no doubt it's badly borked at the moment, hence all these threads about it. Give me a break, I beat PoE 1 on Hard a couple of weeks ago with a straight fighter doing nothing but auto attack and letting the AI handle the companions. The combat was slower and less flashy, but it wasn't hard at all, just more tedious. BG is only hard the first time you play it due to the clusterf*ck that the AD&D rules are. After that it's a cake walk without mods like SCS.
  2. So just like BG, IWD, the first PoE, etc. Granted, Deadfire is much easier to abuse.
  3. There's a legendary quality greatsword with a leeching effect. https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Sanguine_Great_Sword
  4. Crusaders are better thanks, while Brutes are better DPS. Fanatics are kinda middle of the road. All three are great though.
  5. Or maybe it’s just u. Most people agree PoE 2 is much eaiser here. Both are easy. Deadfire is just easier to cheese is what I'm saying.
  6. The smart way to fix it would be to give the enemies a lot of the OP abilities/tactics players use, but that requires work.
  7. Having replayed PoE for the first time since the game came just a few weeks ago, I can honestly say that they're both equally easy if you know what you're doing. The only times I died in PoE 1 were to the Adra Dragon and to the mage with the two dragons, and only because I tried to bullrush both encounters without any tactics. Deadfire offers more things you can abuse, especially with multiclassing, so it's even easier to become a powerhouse, but the people saying PoE is any harder are deluding themselves, or maybe they're remembering their first playthrough when the game first came out. Note: I play these games on hard, so I can't comment on what the situations are on PotD. There may be some valid complaints there.
  8. Yeah, my Devoted/Bleak Walker specialized in Greatswords and Whispers of the Endless Paths is very powerful and can be acquired very easily.
  9. Oh, damn. I've missed that 2H helmet. Definitely gotta get that for my Berserker/Devoted character.
  10. So, has anyone found any good helmets yet? Because I'm at the end game and I haven't anything really interesting. There are plenty of cool armor sets, weapons, trinkets, etc, but nothing really impressive for the head slot. Might as well play nothing but godlikes.
  11. What the others said. Paladin turns the Barbarian from a glass cannon into a tank.
  12. This. I'm almost at the end, but all the bugs and mistakes with the import and companions made the whole thing into a mess. I'm gonna pick up some more points and wait a few patches for my "real" playthrough. Shame because I like the game otherwise.
  13. [Xoti's quest ending spoiler warning, just in case] During her quest, i convince her to give souls from Lanter to Animancers, and she said, after it her nightmares are gone and lantern feels light as never before. so... good ending? maybe? Huh. I did that and she became a total lunatic. I'm gonna stop playing this game until a real patch comes out to fix this stuff. It's ridiculous even by Obsidian standards.
  14. That shield is a large shield that gives deflection based on Athletics skill and damage reduction based on Metaphysics skill. In the family feud quest you can also get an armor that gives deflection based on you Intimidate skill and on an island I found a cloak that gives Fortitude/Reflex/Will based on you History skill. Really? How do you get the intimidate armor then? Is it a reward for solving it a different way than the peaceful ending? I got it from Valera(?)'s corpse.
  15. The first Pillars is honestly boring and not hard at all. I think I died once in my last playthrough. Admittedly that was on Hard, not PotD, but the point remains. At least this one is fun. First Pillars were still easy with a party if you had an idea how to optimize even a little. Solo was a nice challenge though. In PoE2 even PoTD solo is trivial. I'm also not sure what makes this one "fun" compared to PoE1. Exploding enemies with 1 click? Personally, I enjoy all the cheese. It was the same in BG and BG2. If you knew what you were doing you could rape the game on every difficulty. PoE 1 was incredibly constrained and over-balanced to the point of tedium for me. At least in Deadfire I can make a bunch of different fun builds to explode enemies with 1 click.
  16. Because certain classes have amazing synergy. Also, you get to draw from two pools in combat, meaning you can use more abilities in a fight. The only drawback is the lack of high level abilities, but I'm not all that impressed by them on some classes.
