  1. Actually, I'm playing through as DS at the moment, and killed off Zez-Kai El on Nar Shaddar. No DS points for that either. It was a major bummer, cause I had to stay relatively good until I could get Mira in my party. lol.
  2. Vrook is full of dark side glee. He hates you. Hate leads to the Dark Side. He fears you. Fear leads to the dark side. Basically he hates everything and everyone. He is evil. Personally, I like the dialog option of "lotta good you were doing inside a force cage" That really sums up what vrook has accomplished. He's not using mercanaries. He's hiding. The council had no right to exile me. They should have forgiven me after the mandalorian wars. They should have tried to help me. They should have tried to understand what happened to me. Instead they cast me off and turn their backs on me. None of the council are jedi. What happened to Vandar's lesson that "noone is beyond hope of redemption" form KOTOR 1? Vrook never believed in that jedi babbling. Such thinking is weakness as far as Vrook is concerned. I'm forced to agree with those that think Vrook is really a sith lord. He exhibits no traits worthy of a jedi. Maybe the council should've exiled him instead of me. Perhaps I wouldn't have taken such a dark road and not be forced to murder all the fools if they would have accepted me when I returned to face the council, but NO. The fools had to send me into exile.
  3. My thoughts exactly. lol. Mira, might be able to give Bastila a run for her money, IMO.
  4. Playing as a Male character, I was able to get a variant of this conversation takes place between Mira and the Handmaiden. Right after the cutscene between Visas and the Handmaiden "fighting over me" takes place, it's followed by a cutscene where Mira gives the Handmaiden the same lowdown on how to go about "getting a man". It cracked me up to hear Mira reveal her true feelings for me. The first parts slightly different and I don't recal exactly what it was, but this parts the same if you're male: Mira: It's simple - when you want a man, you jab him with a Bothan Stunner, then while he's screaming in pain, slap some stun cuffs on him. Mira: Then starve him for two or three days until he becomes open to suggestion, then double-check his bounty and see if he's worth anything. Handmaiden: That sounds more like hunting. Mira: Call it what you want. Me, I love my targets.
  5. I can't say I agree. Evil characters should be adept liars and masters of deception, unless they happen to fall into the all too familiar 'dumb evil' archetype that runs rampant in far too many games. As such, working the system to gain the trust of NPCs is less powergaming than it is fully immersing yourself in the role of an intelligently evil PC... at least that's how I justify it to myself I want my evil PC to be intelligent enough to feign righteousness and compassion while under the scrutiny of lightside companions to gain their trust (there's never enough [lie] dialogue options for darksiders, in my opinion), then get to work currupting the good natures of those companions once they're wrapped around my little finger. Darkside and deception would seem to go hand in hand, and a well fleshed out influence system should allow a darkside character to remain firmly entrenched in their darkside mastery, all the while playing lightside NPCs for the easily manipulated saps that they are. A lightside PC, however, should have a much more difficult time doing this with darkside NPCs, since lies and deception aren't nearly so closely tied to the path of light as they are to the dark. Lightsiders should have to go the pansy redemption route instead. Hopefully, the influence system in KotOR 3 (assuming it gets made) is more dynamic in this regard, and allows for more subtlety in influence manipulation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree 100%. It seems that charisma and persuasion play no role in the influence system to me. There should be a way for DS players to tell LS characters exactly what they want to hear but not mean a word of it, and they believe you, if you have high enough charisma and persuasion skill. If your char/persuade is too low, then they should see through your lie. But the option ought to be there. It also seems to me that there's too many events that SHOULD give you DS points, but don't. I could list a few off, but I'm afraid they could be spoilers, so I'll refrain. Conversations seem to give you DS/LS points when it's not so clear cut that you said anything a Sith / Jedi might say. I don't like the way the influence system makes you feel compelled to gain influence. It goes against natural thinking to believe that a low influence grants the same results as high influence. It's not realistic and it's difficult to comprehend how they arrived at that conclusion.
  6. I managed to get Kreia to admit that she voice locked the navicomputer. I don't recall exactly when or how, I think I threated to leave her on Peragusus, but I'm not sure. Another interesting piece of the puzzle. You can also talk to kreia and the first HK-50 droid in order to get as much of the backstory as possible.
  7. I've been making a list of some of the things that I really enjoyed on my most recent play through. In no particular order: - Destroy Droid (and I think Force lightning) allow you to destroy mines from a distance. This wasn't an option in KOTOR. I think it adds a nice sense of realism to the game - People actually mention to you about your DS/LS status. LS they mention a "glow" about you and DS they can really get on you about your appearance. They also notice that everyone on the ship seems to be affected when you go DS/LS, but it's not so much that it becomes annoying. - The Security Spikes really work. In Kotor they were useless. Now they can actually be used on occasion to open up tough locks. - You can use explosives to blow open locked doors/cannisters. Again another improvement that adds a sense of realism to the game. - Bash breaks fragile items. I fail to understand why Bashing a container open breaks things while Explosives don't break anything. I mean it makes sense if you bust the lock open, you may break things inside, but shouldn't explosives have the same kind of consequences. - Also on bashing doors with a lightsaber. The effect looks pretty cool to me. It looks like Qui Gon in Episode I, where he sticks the lightsaber through the blast doors and it just melts the lock away. The game doesn't show the "melting" but your character does stick his blade straight in, which I though was cool. - You don't have a Jedi Companion (Bastila) who's constantly telling you you're doing bad stuff. Although your companions do mention when they see you doing stuff they don't like, but it's done in a much smarter way than KOTOR1. It's not "The Jedi council would not approve" ten thousand times during the game. lol. I especially like the fact that you can use Force Persuade almost freely without anyone really commenting on you abusing your power. - And how could I not mention the robes. They actually gave us some jedi armor. How cool is that? Now if only I could find a way to consistently get the best jedi Armor in the game.... I'm not even sure I've had it once yet. lol.
  8. I used that Red Sun option in my current playthough, DS, and I figured making a deal with slavers would be worth DS points, but it didn't give me any. I've gotten 1500 and 1600 credits out of them so far, and still no DS points for dealing with slavers. Of course it seems like there's very little worth buying in kotor2. It's too bad there's not a spot like Yavin where you can get really good stuff, then all these big money grabs would be more beneficial.
  9. I tend to agree with the other posters, it's not like Jedi are royalty or anything and the bloodline must be maintained. That seems a rather extreme point of view to me. I think the question is more along the lines of rebuilding the Jedi Order, and how does that get done. You're right in pointing out that the exile and his crew plus possibly Revan and Bastila are the only jedi left in the galaxy. Therefore the task of rebuilding the order and searching the galaxy for other force sensatives to train would need to be done by this group. Of course, if the exile and Revan are both Sith, then there are no jedi left and much as Luke is left on his own to rebuild the jedi, perhaps one of your crew might betray you and turn back to the LS of the force.
  10. "Recycling" areas cut down on development time, obviously. Why else would they "recycle" the Ebon Hawk too? That's three locations that didn't have to be designed from scratch. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I voted for Coruscant, but I think K3 is more likely to take place in the unknown regions. That would make more sense to me with the way K2 ends.
  11. Funny. However, having some experience in programming, the programmer wouldn't quote 3 weeks to "fix all the glaring bugs" In fact, that'd be nearly impossible. Anyone with any training in programming or testing can tell you there comes a point when further testing is no longer cost effective. Products almost always ship before they are perfect and even if patched, still have some flaws in them. This is just a fact when you develop things as complex as TSL.
  12. This would be my preference: #1: Mira #2: Handmaiden Nothing more to say about these two, that's not already been said. #3: Master Vash, I totally agree they should've killed off one of the male masters and given us this fine looking lady to interact with at some point. Maybe we could have persuaded her to follow us down the dark path. lol. #4: Luxa. She was so fine up until you had to kill her. Such a waste. A real shame she couldn't see things my way. I mean afterall, I would've taken care of GOTO for her. lol.
  13. I've played through twice and I didn't see Bastila at all playing DS. I did get the converstation with Carth and Bastila playing LS. I think your conversations with Atton when you first meet determines the path the game takes. If you give LS answers that Revan saved the Republic, then it's assumed he was LS in KOTOR, in which case Carth and Bastila should still be alive and well. If you were DS male however, Carth ran off like a little pansy and you didn't see him again. A pansy like that wouldn't become an "Admiral"
  14. I confesss, I skipped most of the posts after the first 120. But even at that point, I started seeing a lot of repetition, so obviously very few are reading through this whole post to give their 2 cents and ask their questions. So here's mine. :D I've finished the game twice: once LS, once DS. First of all is the situation on Telos. First time I played through DS, and heldped Czerka corp take over the restoration (or undermine it perhaps). Knowing full well the planet needed fuel, I still negotiated with the Hutt to get fuel for Telos. When i return to Telos: nothing. Not a thank you for setting up the fuel deal. Nadda. Play through LS. Help the Ithorians. Set up the fuel deal. Again. Nothing. No mention that Telos will be OK thanks to the new fuel deal. I got ZERO information as a DS character. In KOTOR the characters side plots were triggered by events regardless of your LS/DS status. If you used them outside the ship and talked to them, you could trigger events as the game progressed. Here you've got some influence system that characters clam up until you gain influence? I like many others seem to be lacking in the influence dept, especially as a DS character. Atton totally shuts down on you when you go DS and getting him to talk about anything but Pazzak is like pulling teeth. The Handmaden and Visas Marr seems to be the only ones easy to gain influence with. Regardless of DS/LS. But I guess that's all the topic of another thread. I do think there's probably many clues, especially with Kreia who proved quite frustrating to figure out the proper responses to get influence with. I think she knows alot more than she's telling. But there in is another problem. It seems Kreia tells more lies to manipulate than truths. I had her pegged as a Sith from the first time I played the game. She survived an encounter with a Sith Lord and only lost a hand. BS!!! She was playing me from the moment we met. I knew that the whole game. No big shock there. The Jedi Masters. Very Satisfying as DS. Not so as LS. Revan was redeemed in KOTOR. Why are they so unwilling to accept me back? As pure LS, everyone else can sense it in me, why can't the Jedi Masters? I don't buy this BS about me being the threat. It's never me. It's Kreia that's the real threat. I'm willing to submit to the Council's decision. I don't agree but playing LS, I've been saying "I should have trusted in the Council's Wisdom." Then I'm faced with a new situation that I don't think they're doing the right thing, but I agree to it because "I trust their wisdom" It's just totally unsatisfactory. If my powers must be bond, then deal with it AFTER the threat of the sith has been dealt with. I was dissapointed at the overall treatment of my character. You would think that if the Jedi had fallen on such hard times, and if you're playing LS, they'd more readily welcome you with open arms. Instead they demean you at every turn. It seems to me that the Jedi truly are dead. At least two of the four Jedi you encounter treat you with extreme disdain, even if you are a LS. Atris. No shock there. Again I sensed there was somthing wrong in her when I played through the first time. Again this is much easier to see DS. You can really draw out her anger by taking the DS responses when talking to her the first time. She even brings out your old lightsaber, that she's kept. I didn't have the guts to demand she give it to me though seeing as how I was unarmed. Maybe next time through I'll have to try that. Then there's Vrook. This man is mean as he was in KOTOR. He is no Jedi. I find it hard to believe he "allowed" himself to be captured. Again. BS!!! How was he going to protect the people on Dantooine from the attack inside a force caged? The Jedi on Nar Shadda. Again a pathetic excuse for a Jedi. He allowed millions on that planet to suffer, and didn't lift a finger to help anyone until I showed up on the planet. C'mon a Jedi's life is sacrifice. He couldn't help a stuck merchant get off the planet? Couldn't help a pilot find work? The Jedi on Onderon was the only respectable one, but on Dantooine, it seems he had no influence. I think the whole meeting and idea to strip me of force powers was Vrook's idea. The others just said "Ok". DS overall isn't as satisfying in this game. In Kotor, dark side was clear, easy to decieve people, and you knew that by defeating Malak the Galaxy would be yours to rule with the beatiful Bastila at your side. :D In this game, it's all deception. There is no clear cut path to ruling the galaxy. That's enough to make it frustrating for anyone that enjoyed DS in KOTOR. But then again, I reckon that you have killed off all KNOWN Jedi and Sith. That leaves just you and your apprentices. As DS, the galaxy is yours to rule, unless you're foolish enough to follow Revan on some "foolistic crusade". ROFLMA.
  15. No, No, No. Force Crush is Much more effective than Force Lightnening. Mind Trick is a pretty effective power too.. make your opponents fight themselves, but that's a neutral power. Jedi are weak though and they'd be afraid to use such power when needed. Only a Sith Lord would weild such power efficiently. LOL.
  16. Seems to me that by the time I gather all the parts to fix HK, there's no good reason to take him with you anywhere. I tried taking him with me to Onderon, but he got cut outta the party cause Kreia has to tag along. Can't take him with me on the Ravenger cause Visas and Mandalore insist on coming with me for that part. Can't take him with me to face the Jedi Masters on Dantooine cause I have to go in alone. Final part on Malachor I also am forced to face alone. The whole HK reassembly just seems useless all the way around.
  17. I went to Koriban first and after completing that world (at least I think I completed it lol) I had all the parts I needed to build my lightsaber. I was then able to "confiscate" two more short lightsabers fairly quickly after that.
  18. My initial impression: Be careful what you wish for. After playing KOTOR a few times, I was wishing for more items and better ways of upgrading stuff. I got my wish in KOTOR2 and I'm still a little overwhelmed with the whole idea of breaking down and making new components. I'm totally blown away at how customizable some of the weapons are, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I still feel like I'm only starting on my journey, but thus far the story has been quite interesting and a great game to play. Overall, it's every bit as enjoyable as the original KOTOR, although I must confess, I prefer Bastila as a "mentor" over Kreila. But hey, I am a guy afterall. LOL.
  19. I don't think it's that bad. I purchased the game last Thursday and have been playing it for a few days now. I'm running the game on a laptop with questionable graphics power (GeForce4 Go chip) and the graphics are trimmed down to the max because of it (No AA, 800x600 resolution, no grass, etc). Have I experienced bugs? You bet. Have they been major? Not in the least. I've noticed that the group members don't retain the commands given when you switch away from them, don't adhere well to their designated fighting style, and when they do, seem to make rather poor choices IMO. One example is using force powers with a range of 10m repeatedly from a pretty good distance from the enemy. Then draining their force powers and being just about useless to me. I've noticed on occasion that the dialog will proceed ultra-fast, almost skipping parts entirely and only stopping when it needs player input for dialog choices. This has been rare for me and I'd like to point out that I STILL get this same bug in Kotor with the 1.0.3 patch. Kotor wasn't perfect, and still isn't. Bioware made it clear that LA made the decision that there would be no more patches for KOTOR despite the fact that MANY, MANY people were calling for a 1.0.4 patch on the bioware forums after 3 was released. KOTOR2 is based on the same engine that powered KOTOR. It's only fair to expect that any lingering issues that still exist in KOTOR would likely show up in KOTOR2. As I mentioned the malfunctioning dialog bug exists in both games for me. But I can live with that. After a dozen or so times playing through the game, this bug becomes a bit of a blessing rather than a curse, IMO. I also have never played a game that was perfect. I actually learned a great deal from games not functioning perfectly straight out of the box. Those asking where the tech support is, I'll tell you you're just as well off using forums like this asking experienced users for help rather than trying to talk to some flunky in India who can only read you suggestions from a computer screen in front of him.
