So, what did Vrook want you to do?
Reveilled replied to AlanC9's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Vrook's a Sith Lord. I'm certain of it. Forcibly breaking someone's connection to the force as he attempts to do to you on Dantooine, is like simultaneously depriving them of all of their other senses at once, that is, forcibly blinding and deafening them, while cutting out their tounge, breaking their nose and burning all their skin off, and must be pretty damn near to rape in terms of the emotional damage it would do. No doubt about it, Vrooky's batting for the other team. -
Dagla Scosco? I don't think I'd make a good Jedi.

I can't find a picture, but it is of stars.

I just make up a first name at random and use a historic empire or city for the last name. F'rex, Jasha Samarkand, Sarna Timurid, and Kora Babylon (my last three female PCs). My friend just uses her real name.

I'll confess I don't quite understand exactly what the problem you are experiencing is, but if the problem is primarily with the blur effect of speed, you can remove it by using the mod in this thread, or by turning frame buffers off in the advanced graphics options menu. Though the second solution will also remove other effects, which would make the game's graphics worse.

Speaking as a Brit, Hoodlum's never a word I've heard in a racial context. I've only ever heard it used by old people to describe criminal or near-criminal nuiscances, usually young people. I always considered it somewhat more equivalent to the words "chav" or "ned" (I'm not quite sure what would be an equivalent US term, as neds are not a social group in the USA). "Chav" and "ned" certainly don't have racial connotations (since chavs and neds are almost entirely white), though they certainly carry connotations of social class.

I'm currently playing through the game a second time, and the order in which I am doing the planets means I will probably be going to Onderon last. Now, the first time I played, Onderon was second, so I got the usual flee-from-Onderon-and-go-back-later sequence. Of course, If I'm doing Onderon last, I'm not really going to have much to do if that's what happens then. So what is going to happen? Also, if I kill all three masters, what happens with regard to the meeting at Dantooine? Do I still have to go there for some reason or another?

problem with seemingly invincible enemies?
Reveilled replied to Salvador's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
hmm...Laigreks regenerate I think 4 hit points per round. It could be that you aren't doing sufficient damage to counter that regeneration. Have you tried dropping the difficulty level? Alternatively, could you maybe go to the other planets and gain some levels which would possibly let you do more damage? Of course, if it is an actual bug, rather than them just being too difficult, then I don't know. -
I assumed it was the equivalent of "sh-thead". It has the same sort of sound, and seems to fit the places in which it is used. What it actually means in game (as opposed to its out-of-game origins), I do not know.

It's the one with three heads in the menus. At least in my manual, that's on page 12.

I dunno, there could be some sort of special Neutral Prestige Classes for characters who maintained their neutrality. A devotion to balance, if you will. The neutral equivalent of a Master/Lord, for example, would instead drag the other party members more strongly towards neutrality or away from it depending on the influence. Bonuses...I'm not so sure about.

Just curious, did you try reading the manual to find out where it was?

Why the hell I must be wimpy to get LSP?
Reveilled replied to Handel's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
They don't seek to harm you. They seek to cut you off from the Force so you can't destroy it. The Light Side Exile agrees with the Masters' actions, and makes this sacrifice so he doesn't end up killing everyone through his force bonds. Actually, the Light Side exile can say "I won't let you do this" (or something like that, the less violent of the two "no" options) and not gain DSP. Your actions in attacking the mercenaries and freeing him are the reason the mercenaries attack the settlement, endangering all those people. Vrock is annoyed that you didn't consider the consequences of your actions. Of course, one does not get the opportunity to slap his head and ask him what the hell will stop them from selling him and attacking the colony. -
Since I'm assuming that the question is asking what I myself would be if I lived in the Star Wars universe, I'm going to have to say Tech Specialist. Although "normal guy" or "mad raving guy who thinks he's a prophet" would probably be more likely. I'm not sure which though.

Why the hell I must be wimpy to get LSP?
Reveilled replied to Handel's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Oh, yes! Just be mean to Atris at the first meeting (she deserves a spanking, not just being mean) and you get DSP ASAP! About Jedi code - did the Jedi helped me years ago? No, they exiled me... Did they tried to help me when I gathered them on Dantoine? Oh, no - they tried to harm me... Was the Jadi Master from Dantoine (who cares about his name) nice and polite to me, when I saved him from the force cage? No, he acused me I am ruining his efforts against the mercenaries... Was Atris nice and polite and forgiving when she met me for the first time? No, she was mean and rude and arrogant, she stole my ship and my lightsaber (I lost the right to own it, but I didn't give it to Atris or anyone else - I put it in the stone)... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I called her a "Pretentious Schutta". No DSP. -

Strange. I never noticed the insults getting me dark side points. I insulted the Jedi left right and centre for abandoning the republic in the Mandalorian wars, stealing my ship, exiling me, and I never got a single DS point. -
Whether you want to role-play or power-game is your own choice, really. The game simply is there; it lets you do both but does not force you to do either. D&D has two dimensions - lawful/chaotic and good/evil - while KotOR maps everything onto the dark/light dimension. However, you can still play chaotic good, lawful evil or true neutral if you so desire. The first two will simply delay alignment mastery a bit and as regards neutrality - do you really expect a bonus for nothing at all? If you simply evade questions and avoid taking a stand then the game should put you about halfway to to dark side, and even further if you try to play both ends against the middle (a la Goto). You are either for Vaklu or for Queen Talia, either for the Ithorians or for Czerka. There cannot be any middle ground since the Exile isn't just some anonymous vegetable merchant, she is, well, a player. Avoiding commitment isn't truly neutral, it favours whatever side is currently stronger. I think if the current system has shortcomings then it is these: (1) every light side penalty is automatically a dark side bonus and vice versa (2) you can achieve mastery even if you are not really committed (it just takes longer), and you can thenceforth retain master status by doing nothing at all This could be fixed by adding something like a 'neutrality penalty' that pulls you back to the middle, and this could even exist in polarized forms that act as penalties for one alignment and are neutral to the other. Certain actions could be 'pegged' on the light/dark scale, e.g. stealing might be worth 20% dark and pull you towards that mark if you are lighter but it would do nothing if your are darker already. Things like having Big Z kill Mission would be worth a full 100%. Of course, this would make things mighty complicated for the game designers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But the whole for/against mentality is part of the problem. Why is there no third option? Why can't the Exile act against Queen Talia, revel Vaklu's plan to ally with the Sith (and thus place Onderon under a new system no better than the Republic's), and let the people of Onderon decide for themselves what they want to do? Kreia claims the the Light Side is all about stopping people from becoming stronger by protecting them from hardship and making their choices for them. If therefore the Dark Side is about becoming stronger by taking those choices away from them (i.e. killing them, robbing them or enslaving them), coulld one not take the view that a position of neutrality would be to elevate people to the point that they can make their own choices? To put it more simply, if the Light Side is about Helping others, and the Dark Side about helping yourself, Neutrality is helping others to help themselves. Similar to Onderon, take the refugee sector on Nar Shaddaa. Light side is to help the refugees by killing off the Exchange and the Serreco. Dark side is to be cruel and mean and assist the exchange in maintaining their hold on them. Neutrality could be to provide the refugees with the means by which to rise up themselves, say by arming and inspiring them. In D&D terms, it need not even be True Neutrality. A Lawful Neutral PC wouldn't do nothing. On Telos, he could help the Ithorians by protecting the dorid, then report them to the TSF when they ask him to steal and reprogram the Czerka droid. Neutrality isn't about doing nothing, it's about doing something else. Even the middle ground contains actions.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you're not playing a girl. You need to be a girl. Guys get Handmaiden instead.

I think that Sith should stay the same, if not start to look better. I mean, would you consider vanity to be a characteristic of a Jedi or a Sith? And with all that raw emotion, the Sith would be more prone to lust than a Jedi. Love is a quality that can be on both sides, but for the Sith, one would expect it to be more carnal in nature. Thus, a Sith might care more about what's on the outside than what's on the inside. Also, why should a Sith have to sacrifice his or her appearance to gain power? Sacrifice is a Jedi ideal. A Jedi can be corrupted more easily if the Dark Side feeds on his/her vanity and makes them look better.

WHY HAS OBSIDION NOT REPLIED TO ANY OF THIS?
Reveilled replied to Worldshaper's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
When Obsidian signed a contract that allowed Lucasarts to push release dates, rush QA, and to force them into silence, they became as responsible for all of those things as Lucasarts, because ultimately, they gave them that power. They are as responsible for this game's faults as they are for the game's qualities. -
Lightside characters should glow.
Reveilled replied to SteveThaiBinh's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It would be a bit misleading. Only Force Sensitive people can see the glow. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, that's not such a bad thing. As I always understood it, lots of people are force sensitive that either never made the cut for Jedi training, weren't discovered by the Jedi at the right age, or weren't given up by their parents to become one. It might even add realism if not every force sensitive was a Jedi or potential Jedi. -
Actually, I thought KotOR 2's darkside was easier, precisely because in KotOR 1 the Darkside was all about acting like a school bully of the "give me your lunch money" presuasion. In KotOR 2, it was a lot easier to be the "Bond Villain"; that is, evil, but polite about it. Being able to vent all my hatred of my party and everyone else on my personal livejournal (a.k.a. Kreia) while still being superficially polite and friendly to everyone else made being evil a lot easier. And you could pull of a "acting good with ulterior motives" schtick. Also, the fact that evil paths were often available where you wouldn't actually have to confront the people you were hurting made things easier too (e.g. when you help Czerka on Telos you're never in the position where the Ithorians start begging you or their lives. All I was disappointed about was that "[ignore him]" was not a more frequent conversation option, as opposed to "get out of my way or I'll kill you!"

Aren't all of Atris' handmaidens (including Handmaiden herself) Echani?
-
Okay, but I reserve the right to be mean to idiots who could solve their problem by reading the bloody manual.

Is your Sith Lord PC by any chance named Darth Dangerfield?
