  1. Set the ability to have an Action cooldown roughly equal to the duration. Should do what your aiming for.
  2. Druid yes, Wizard no. Chill Fog is probably the best early ability in the game. Persistant damage and Blind. Basically someone Blinded is Flanked (Deflection reduced by 10 and -1 armour), -5 Perception and -10 accuracy (-15 to hit overall) and reduced sight range (has to get closer to use ranged weapons and spells). Other Blinds can miss and then you have wasted time and resources whereas Chill Fog gets multiple attempts. Necrotic Lance for single target nuking at PL 2 (great for killing Mages) and anti everything Fire Ball at PL 3.
  3. I was one of them. Chillfog carries fights. I'ts only weakness is it's low Pen. Even then it still Blinds. Blind is so strong Flanked and Acc and Perception debuff.
  4. Explosives are so good I am actually looking at which classes get +skills to explosives on character creation. Helps a lot when you are also using Bereths blessing.
  5. I think it varies from game to game. I think early game power matters a lot more in Deadfire because due to its open ended nature the vast majority of the content is aimed at the early to mid levels. So if you are maxing some super dupa multi class that gets good at levels 17-19 by the time you reach that level the game is already over. For me the only thing that keeps early game Wizard viable is Chill Fog and honestly Aloth can be a Chill Fog bot just fine (since they don't stack). I think this early game favouring is even stronger in 1.1. The game gets super challenging super fast yet people who are loading up their old saves at levels 12-14+ are saying it does not feel much different. I will disagree with this, the early missile spells aren't that bad fireball is pretty strong too especially if you empower it. I've been using aloth as a tank since the wizard buffs last a long time and he can still empower a spell to deal solid damage Yeah but if you multi (most people do) that starts at 7 and you only get 1 cast a fight (a second at 10). Will rely a lot on getting that +1 spell casting Grimoire. When you consider that PoE1 became easy at level 9 it's not really amazing.

  7. Everyone keeps saying Cipher is bad yet Whispers of Treason can carry you in 1.1. An Empowered Whispers can turn a fight. Well I mean it's just that a lot of the powers available aren't that powerful. High level wizard and druid spells are incredibly powerful. They are pretty solid honestly I think a lot of it is people comparing them to POE 1. Yeah but high level does not really matter. Everything is strong at high level. About the only good offensive Wizard spell till PL 3 is Chill Fog. Druids have bad accuracy issues at low levels with spells. Just find it weird how every rags on them but then recuits as temp companions to get through the early fights (usually the hardest part of a CRPG). Well I mean Im not disagreeing just rather explaining why. Druids are fairly good with there support skills early too. I mean ciphers to me aren't bottom tier more of in the middle they just need a lot of there skills looked at honestly. Right now with my streetfighter / ascendant I think he's pretty awesome I get 50% quicker recovery and machine gun out spells I just feel my spell choice isn't the greatest It's not really aimed at you. It's more of a general attitude across the board. While Cipher's themselves have not gotten stronger the way the game has changed in 1.1 suits them a lot more. How many of the now tough fights in 1.1 can be turned completely on their heads with a Empowered Whispers or Ring Leader? Charming a target then attacking while it's Charmed still works.
  8. Should of just made the Brilliant inspiration self only. It's only okay for solo Chanters and for multi Chanters they need to be level 19.

  10. Honestly most of the nerfs you wouldn't notice except for maybe Beckoner/Monk. The biggest change is the encounters. Even with the old OP abilities the Looters and Aloth recruitment fight would be damn hard.
  11. Throw in (literally) explosives, hired companions, etc. There are options. I think people got a little spoiled by the previous PotD difficulty. The game isn't supposed to be that easy on the hardest difficulty level.
  12. Lower the difficulty. You put the game on max difficulty and then wonder why it's too hard.
  13. Screen Freeze during gameplay. Basically at anytime during play the screen will freeze. The rest of the game keeps playing in the background, movement, dialogue, combat, etc. Have to alt tab and shutdown program. PS The advanced uploaded locks up my browers (Firefox) and I can only upload Output.log but not error.txt or .dmp file. Weird. output_log.txt

  15. Depends once you get around level 7-8 all CRPGs tend to get a lot easier. It's always the early levels that are the hardest. The looters, Skele tomb and Aloth recruitment fights on Tutorial Island 1.1 are probably then any fights in 1.0.
  16. Beckoner is dead. 24 seconds between Skeleton casts. They last like 12. At higher levels it just gets worse. It's actually worse at summoning then it is are using other Invocations.
  17. Honestly I find base Barb better as a secondary. +5 Might and Con plus +25% action speed whenever you want it. +20% action speed on kill. +100% recovery later on. +1 physical armour and physical afflication resistance. All this works with range and spells. Offence wise it is no contest.
  18. Yeah, it's a bit more worthy now. Actually, concussive shot seems really good now, too (1 bond), play dead (2 bond), evasive fire (1 bond). Barring the lack of acc. boost, the ranger really looks like a fun single-class for me to play, especially if you want utility, and you don't mind spending points on the pet. I just counted, and with (i think it is) 28 points, you actually don't lack for good pick-options. Full ranger next playthrough for me, I'm happy. Ranger was always a decent class just outshone by the crazy around it. My patch proof Ranger (no sub)/Troubadour build is ripping up 1.1. Bear companion + Resil Companion gives you a 9 armour tank. Plus heaps of accuracy means DPS is fine. With Beckoner being destroyed (-1 to summon phrases is now +1 LOL) Troubadour is now best everything. Breezing through tutorial island.
  19. Yeah wow, that is such a brilliant idea. It has really helped me combine my gaming with my daytime job as drying paint supervisor. I just pick up a new game, immediately attempt the hardest difficulty possible, and fail pretty early. At that point I'm considered to have prior knowledge so I cannot make another attempt, so I just have to repeat the story with another game. Pretty soon I run out of games so I just call my boss and say I can work extra this week. It's quite the meme at my workplace when they arrive in the morning and notice the paint has been drying unevenly overnight. "Fireballs picked up a new game", they say. "He must have been away for a few hours and the paint just went wild without his steady supervision." The highest difficulties assume metagaming. They are there for the people who want to beat unfair challenges with unfair methods. Ultimate Ironman: can only play the game once. Hardcore only no scrubs.
  20. I agree wholeheartedly. I (for example) will not post any build as long as the game is in such an unbalanced state. It's ok for now and for my first playthrough because atm the story is the most important thing. But for long term investment to happen it needs to be more balanced. A lot more. I am currently playing Kingmaker Pathfinder beta. It's buggy and incomplete (as you would expect) but even in this state the challenge and class building is a fair bit more interesting then Deadfire at the moment. I would love to come back and play more Deadfire but without the challenge its kinda boring.
  21. Yeah but if their perception wasn't high enough how would you know if you missed anything? According to the devs the highest check is 20.
  22. So, how can you use this estoc? For me it's in the miscellaneous section of the inventory, saying something like "try as you might, the blade won't come out of the scabbard" Barbarian using Barbaric blow +upgrade one shotting enemies proccing Ghost Blades each time?
  23. Actually that's not a bad idea. The reason Brilliance is so powerful is because resources for weapon classes is so limited. Still makes it a great buff and keeps it's theme but without such a dramatic power shift.
