  1. Monks seem to suffer a lot from rumors that people spread without playing them. The one about unarmed being absolutely unplayable for example. The passive accuracy bonuses you get, with the increased damage, and the absolutely insane attack speed, makes unarmed pretty damn powerful. I don't think missing out on the more generic enchants is a problem there - as a monk you'll probably miss the leech enchant the most, for example. Plus they have some of the best abilities in the game. That 10 sec prone alone is insane. Torment's reach becomes spammable in certain fights. Really, try actually playing the class, and put more thought into the stats, and you'll find that the class is insanely powerful.
  2. Mage the Ascension ( a part of World of Darkness PnP) had similiar mechanics. Maintaining one buff per character or one buff per party would be great and it would make buffing a real tactical decision instead of no brainer. Pre buffing wouldn't be an issue if you cannot stack buffs and if buffs would be more versatile. I'd be fine with something like this. I never want CRPGs to return to the IE engine style of prebuffing which was just brainless and tedious and just involved going through the same list of spells at every damn fight.
  3. The real world, movies, various other media, but that's beside the point. They really should change how backstab works, as right now it's not really useful at all. Right now because it's only useful for burst, you pretty much have to use guns as they're the best for burst damage.
  4. I don't think LGBT people want to murder you, even though the gamergate people tend to do nasty **** like stalk and swat them
  5. Well to be fair, to grow a thick skin, you have to subject yourself to criticism or address it. Animals that live in isolated environments rarely develop a functional carapace, and in addition, are often spineless. Take from that analogy what you will. Seriously did Sawyer kill your dog or something
  6. If you want to just steamroll through the game without tactics or micromanagement, you're not going to have a good time. That said, on easy you can probably build one of the retaliation tanks and just move that character to the front before anyone else and win all of the battles by just being there and surviving. That's fire godlike combined with monk, rogue or barbarian and a piece of gear with the retaliation property.
  7. I'm not sure if the complete lack of immunities is the best choice, but I prefer it to the overly abundant immunities that were present in D&D. Oh what's that, you want to play a class that specializes in sneak attacks or criticals? Too bad, over half the enemies resist that ****.
  8. So did you cheese it by abusing rogue combat escapes or did you genuinely beat it This is an extremely vague topic
  9. Indeed, I haven't reached levelcap yet so I don't have the full picture. But if it can be reached so early then EXP itself doesn't have much value which is even worse. Reaching the cap in act two is an extreme case though, where you finish all side content available and ignore the main quest. But they should definitely lower exp gains across the board, but not so much that you're forced to do side quests.
  10. Yeah I have no idea what people think they can accomplish by throwing personal insults at Josh instead of providing constructive criticism And seems to me that people think that Josh designed every single part of this game. Like everything. That's a good soundtrack Josh, didn't know you were so musically inclined
  11. Josh here. As I completely designed the adra dragon just by myself, let me preface this by saying *farts*
  12. I never felt like returning to a place just to disarm traps - the exp is extremely minimal for doing so, and the game currently gives you a bit too much exp which can lead to reaching the exp cap in act 2. You're not missing much if you don't disarm every trap and pick every lock. Doing so will just make you reach the cap a tiny bit faster.
  13. Aumaua, orlan and godlike have too few portraits right now. As for classes, I think cipher and druid could use some that are more specific to them - a few with a glowing weapon for cipher would be nice. Was gonna say ranger too but I realized that there's a bunch of portraits with a quiver or crossbow in them.
  14. Lore checks in dialog are only for your protagonist. So the only reason to level it for party members is because of scrolls, yeah.
  15. Uh what? Why would they do that? It'll probably be handled like episodic content of Telltale games, but in two bigger parts. They are making a sequel but they're making an expansion first. That was one of the kickstarter promises and I have already paid for the expansion myself, so... Seriously, do any of your posts include anything positive about Obsidian? Or not include some dumb conspiracy theory for that matter?
  16. They mean that it is one continuous, large story while most DLCs these day are tiny and have nothing to do with each other as a whole. And honestly, I don't mind it being in two parts. It will allow for the content to be delivered at a faster pace, and they'll most likely do a better job with the second half once people have voiced their opinions on what works and doesn't work in the first half. You have to test the waters a little when you're starting something new and big like this.
  17. Why don't you type down, now, all the conditions in PoE and their effects? You do realize that this is the Internet, on a forum, with access to google and Wikipedia, and you have given no time limit of any sort on my response? Regardless, my point was not that I have everything about PoE memorized. My point is that just because you suck at manipulating and understanding the combat mechanic does not mean it's over engineered. It's there if you want to take advantage if it; if you don't have the intelligence, attention span, or motivation then you don't have to. Ok look. the combat is not a problem here. I may not like it 100%, its a matter of taste. I will grow fond of it. Doesnt matter. Balance and bugs are problems. non-issues like Firedorn memorial certainly are not. Do you get my drift? They aren't assigning priorities as they should. Yes I'm sure that replacing a backer text with another text took them days and days to do and we lost a number of bug fixes in the process. 100% certain. Absolutely.
  18. Eliminating the RPG trinity of tank/dps/healer. You pretty much need gimmicks to play this game. I feel like playing an MMO actually. Balance between professions. You take Cipher/Chanter/Druid/Fighter and faceroll the game on hard, while taking Monk/Rogue/Ranger/Barbarian gives you cancer. Over-engineered the combat systems. This wasn't a promise but w/e. There is a dozen combat conditions, each boasting 4-5 effects no one can memorize. Making every stat important, I'm happy to say this was fulfilled. Now intelligence matters for my Barbarian , while Might can be important for a Wizard. just some off the top of my head MMOs in general use the RPG trinity so I have no idea how getting rid of it makes the game feel like a MMO for you. And you are doing something extremely wrong if monk, rogue and barbarian are weak to you. Why do you think people are running those exact three classes for PoTD solo? And they're even better in group play. You know you can hover over the status effects and see what exactly they do?
  19. Wonder if you can sacrifice an inn adventurer to this.
  20. As much as I love this game (flowers about to grow out my arse) I'm starting to dislike sawyer. Mainly for the fallen promises and indulging irrelevant hipsters over non-issues, instead of fixing spell/class balance and game-breaking bugs. I'm so glad I didn't back this game on Kickstarter. Yeah, Sawyer made a mistake in making the default clothing for everyone a flannel shirt and cap, work boots and worker jeans. And come on, pabst blue ribbon as an off-hand item for backers? Ridiculous.
  21. The only user made module I remember was one specific for paladins which was pretty good (though it had a terribly cliched drow companion) Oh and the honor among thieves one or whatever, but I remember that because it was absolutely horrid garbage yet had amazing reviews for some reason (don't play that mod, it has actually creepy and insane content and not in a good way)
  22. I don't think anyone played NWN for the graphics. Besides, why would you think it was going to be a successor to BG? The plan for the game was to focus on mulltiplayer and user generated content from day one of development. I don't think they ever advertised it for it's single player. And I mean, HoTU was the only good single player campaign in it. If you didn't play multiplayer or the user made modules for the game you were kind of missing the point.
  23. I'm fairly sure that increased attack speed doesn't affect your recovery time, however, the base speed of an action does - the longer the action the longer you recover. But I might be completely wrong, since the system is a tad confusing.
  24. Dex is a percentage based increase, and the base speed of an action depends on what you're doing. Different weapons have different speeds, for example. As do different spells. Armor only has a penalty to recovery time, which is a period of time after an action where you're recovering and not doing anything. It doesn't directly affect action speed so you can still benefit from high dex while wearing heavy armor, though it doesn't work as well as high dex with light or no armor at all. Every point of dexterity above 10 equals +3% action speed. Only fighters have a way to reduce the penalty for wearing armor, which is a mid level talent. IIRC it's a 15% reduction on the recovery penalty.
  25. A few spells and abilities have some kind of bug with descriptions which gives crazy numbers like that, but they don't actually do that much damage.
