  10. That's just it, initially Gothics feel like difficult hack'n'slashers and you wonder why you are even bothering, but soon it gets very rewarding. Exploration of the hand-crafted world, deadly combat, the constant equipment hunt that makes you leap in power nearly everytime(first time earning Shadow armor in G1 anyone?, Stonecrusher in G1 and Orc slayer in G2 anyone?) and the incessant tackle between factions that actually has an effect on the game instead of being flavoring over an otherwise mediocre product like Morrowind, all of these themes are shared over the Gothic series. Though I agree with anyone who says that the story took a turn for the worse with the chosen one stuff in G2. The original is still the strongest storywise. Too bad that it's a fairly obscure German crpg, I'd like it if more people could share the unique experience.
  11. Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. This series has been consistently hilarious, outrageously hilarious.
  12. Laugh: to be happy over others plight*, but with a good conscience. (Schadenfroh has no equivalent in English, but it's means e.g an instance where you laugh when someone slips on ice and falls. Vahingonilo, etc)

  18. Thanks! As a matter of interest, though, don't you consider a good plot to be integral to a good game?* *Unless it is a game that relies has a focus on non-story elements, such as simulation (e.g. the SimCity series). How are you supposed to answer that question? You already answered it yourself. Think of such games as Tetris, Quake 2 and for instance Pharaoh. Either there's no story or it's not really the reason why people play. We might argue that plotless games aren't "good games", but kinetic combat or for instance intelligent game design can go a long way in terms of keeping people entertained.
  19. Right, I'll call the stars "Nick and Llyr" from now on.
  20. Same. And I'll gladly take an alternate shadow reality which transforms the locals into manifestations of your unconscious fears over a town full of shotgun-wielding maniacs and living dead any day. Not to mention, the former has so far given a chance of survival to every odd straggler that decides to stumble inside its borders, but to enter Raccoon City you absolutely need assault and weaponry training in order to survive the various genetically enhanced monstrosities and zombie hordes. At least in Silent Hill I can survive with a lead pipe and my wits about. Also, no need to eat and a hot nurses. Another interesting comparison that springs to mind would be between the village in Forbidden Siren and the mall in Dead Rising. First is hell on earth, second is full of psychopaths and a million zed-heads.
  21. I get horrible alt-rock poser vibes from each cover. Except Boomer's which looks like an old Bay Area thrash album.
  22. Massive Attack - Karmacoma
