Well, if you want to just play the vanilla Rome:TW, then you don't really need anything else except the latest patch. Now, Barbarian Invasion in itself isn't very interesting(besides being hellishly difficult if you star with it), but it does rise the game's version number enough that all the latest mods work, like of instance Total Realism Platinum+Metronaval Mod, Europa Barbarorum, Ran no Jidai(if it's out yet, I'm terribly lost on the mod scene ever since I left my computer home) all need Barbarian Invasion. Or some interesting metamodding, but that's not really your thing, I bet. There's also several mods that make Barbarian Invasion vanilla campaign pretty awesome. As for Alexander, I haven't played it, but apparently there's a small mod sub-community for it, so it might be worth getting. I keep hearing that the vanilla campaign is pretty horrible though. Then again, it's Megas Alexandros, the period does have it's own appeal.

That's not it, exactly. MGS 3 has you gathering different healing ingredients, etc, but in Far Cry 2 the bullet removal and other animations are just that; animations. They are supposed to represent minor injury being healed, those wounds are able to be regenerated(your character bandages himself for the moment, but it's basically regeneration), but for "larger injuries"(not yet known what, but supposedly broken limb bones, fractured intestines, etc) you need rest and location with healing supplies, like a field hospital or a supply depot. It's all very neat and in the principles of fps gaming, you aren't hampered so much as to not be able to get into proper firefigts, you can still take a dozen bullets, but now you think twice about attacking installations head on.

My only problem with the controls was the zoomed-in first person view. The field of view was so narrow that it was hard to stay on top of fights and whatnot. Not to mention, it feels really restricted.

I'm about halfway through watching PlanetES with my friend. It's an awesome series.

It's a recent Finnish debut, pretty fine. Though I must say that SIGH will probably recieve a ton more listens than it, Ghost Brigade doesn't really take any strides, it's not original or anything, merely a good album in it's genre. Ghost Brigade - Along the barriers

It's not nearly as bad as Dragon Ball. They get some development in. Dragon Ball just spent 3 or 4 episodes yelling and glowing yellow sometimes. Yeah, Bleach is pretty slow and probably will continue to be so. The movie that'll be translated in a couple of months might satisfy anyone who is annoyed with the long stares and endless blather. Of course it won't be manga canon, but the previous movie was pretty great considering the awful fillers after it, so I have my hopes up. Even though I don't exactly like Toushiro, he's overfeatured in the fillers as it is. Yeah, big freaking ice dragon, a kid trying to fill the shoes of an adult, we get it already, now bring on Kira and Soifong kthx!

Yeah, I grasped that. Of course euphemisms quickly become marked, and then we need a new euphemism, an euphemism of euphemism hah, since they are all constructions. Labels should be based on mutual respect and not on some doddering terminological disasters.

It's also a good idea to learn to play a game. Sure, it's a different kind of challenge than turn-based or pause-based combat, but it also has it's own rewards. Believe me, I adore both extremes, indie 2d rpgs and new-fangled 3d real-time actioners like Mass Effect and Witchers. Then again, both also have a pause option. In fact, it's pretty hard to live without it after a while. In Mass Effect, the whole strategic command is based around the pause function, it's practically impossible to survive some fights if you don't take advantage of it. I just wish it was toggleable and not held-down.

KOTOR 3 Release Speculation
Musopticon? replied to dead1486's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Alright, fair enough. Please be Chult, please be Chult, please be Chult! The messages in the loading screens hinted there. They can avoid the whole 4th edition mess by having it based there, it's remote enough. -
This poses the interesting dichotomy of whether Arcanum had a generic enough premise that anyone could come up with it accidentally or maybe vellen has partial memory loss.

KOTOR III MMO Confirmed?
Musopticon? replied to BuckeyeRowe's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Why is MMOs a dying genre? I mean, ffs, World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Lotr Online, millions of Korean small-morpgs, around two dozen recently announced new mmorpgs(including Tim Cain's new project). Taking all of that into account, I think it's only fair to say that we have a very healthy genre in our hands. -
KOTOR 3 Release Speculation

Why all this eagerness around KOTOR 3 or MMO?
Musopticon? replied to Jedi_Maverick's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Actually, it's otherwise a good argument, except that Starcraft was kept alive by it's awesome multiplayer, Battle.net, Korean tv and hordes of Blizzard fanboys. It's one of the very few games(others being Diablo 2 and Half Life for instance, all multiplayer) that has been a steady seller ever since it's conception and that is mostly thanks to the greatly balanced multiplayer that has been supported by Blizzard ever since. But I kind of agree, it's a bit early to get feisty over a sequel, you need to give the gaming biz time, it'll come back to milk franchises, they are afterall franchises. -
