  1. So the games she's criticised she doesn't play? Okay, lets have a look at the games she's criticised but doesn't play. A very very small selection (because I can't be bothered to list all the games) taken from her website and videos. TRIGGER WARNING!!! Wow! Even Pac-Man (1980)? And Angry Birds is on that list! Damn, I played a lot of those games, even in the arcades. Gauntlet (1985) was a huge hit at the time. Edit: Forgot to put in the trigger warning. The list might offend some people. I did notice a trigger warning on Sarkeesian's site when copy/pasting some of this.
  2. So someone trolled the USU? Looks like the trolls know how to stop Anita Sarkeesian doing any more speeches. The trolls just send anonymous death threats to any place where there's a public speaking event she'll attend.
  3. Of course. How silly of me.
  4. Sounds like a lot of baloney. So you're suggesting women can't negotiate a better starting salary than a man even though it's anonymous. Women value their time less than a man. And Women typically ask less than a man? And women can't negotiate a better pay rise. Holy blame the woman, Batman! But even so, if you're a manager and you have a man and a woman applying for the same job, with the same credentials. You as the manager isn't going to hire the woman who gets paid less? You're the manager, you need to keep costs down. You would hire the woman for less pay.
  5. Interesting. So it's possible that she trolled gamergate and she was then trolled herself and it spiralled out of control. Whether it's true or not, it's a good idea not to poke a hornet's nest. I was hoping the guy during the interview was going to ask Brianna what prompted the death threats, how did this all start. Not what happened afterwards. That would have been one of my first questions to get to the bottom of this.
  6. Re: Women paid less than men. Reminds me of this:
  7. Thanks KP but I'm really after what preceded the threats. As far as I know, Internet users don't decide to randomly pick a female out of thin air from the thousands of females in the gaming industry and then go after them, send threatening messages or anything like that. Yeah, you could be right. She could have been trolled. Then made a big song and dance about it and was trolled and threatened even more. Who knows. It's what preceded it that I'm wondering about. There's usually something that sparks this and I'd be interested to know what the spark was that snowballed this. And I decided to watch it and what a chore listening through her, interrupting other people while they spoke. And she came across as very litigious, almost 'I'm gonna sue you' type of hysteria with the admin of 8chan. The 'you don't know the law, I know the law from college. Better be careful and watch yourself' attitude. Better get yourself a lawyer. The admin probably knows his stuff and presumably has a lawyer to go over this with his website.
  8. I couldn't even get five minutes in and Brianna Wu in that interview said she had to take a twitter break as it all got too much for her and she took 24hrs off from it. I'm just shaking my head thinking... well I won't say. Anyway, how did Brianna Wu become the latest topic of discussion in this whole affair? How did she become the current news story? She says she received death threats but what preceded this? I mean there are hundreds if not thousands of females working in this industry. What happened for her to be singled out from the hundreds if not thousands of women in the industry.
  9. I'm sure if you picked any day out of the year and call it anything you want, someone somewhere will be offended.
  10. Must be a slow news week for the Register? We already had a thread about this earlier this year in February citing the same 'paper'. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/65146-internet-trolls-really-are-horrible-people/page-1 And there were people in the previous thread who agreed you can have a 'good' troll.
  11. It always surprises me how so many people don't know or don't remember the arcade/video/computer games targeted to females in the 80s. But of course some websites would have you believe all that never happened.
  12. I enjoyed the post-apocalyptic tv show Jeremiah, from J. MIchael Straczynski the creator of Babylon 5. It sort of has an ending with Season 2. Could have gone on for another season but Straczynski left the show in disgust due to the studio's meddling involvement. I'd also recommend the short 5 episode zombie mini-series Dead Set if you haven't watched it Monte. Great stuff.
  13. They want higher paying jobs than in the mining industry? What, earning more than $2000 a week as a driver isn't high enough?
  14. They should make a cure. So everyone will be safe.
  15. So can anyone confirm if a patient with ebola sneezed at you and you copped the spray of that sneeze and it went into your respiratory system, up your nose, down your mouth, whatever, would you get ebola? Can it be transmitted via a sneeze?
  16. Are there going to be any trigger warnings during the stream. I don't want to be offended.
  17. Disgraceful. Oh, and I love the comments in that Techraptor article, especially the picture of Vavra.
  18. Yep, that's what I do. I have the money so I don't mind shelling out the dollars. I've always bought intel because I think they're better than AMD and will continue to do so. The same with buying Nvidia over Radeon. I go for the best product imo.
  19. That would be the death knell for AMD.
  20. I wouldn't say the EU was built on it. I 've read a lot of EU stuff and never came across it. The only time I came across it was in video games. I can see why Lucas would be against it. I agree with Lucas.
  21. Maybe we should have diplomacy checks in CoD?
  22. Even before the Codex, he was a fallout fanatic from sites like nma which is how I remember him. Though, I mostly remember him from the BIS forums.
  23. Everyone eventually comes back. You can't escape.
  24. So how many people on this forum don't support gamergate and/or notyourshield? Seems like a lot of SJW's on the net have an issue with it from what little I've read.
  25. I can see this thread going places. I'm out of here.
