  1. Doctor Who Series 5, 6 and 7, 50th Anniversary and Christmas Special. Finally got around to finishing the Matt Smith run and have to say Steven Moffatt has ruined the series. He can do one off episodes, but as a show runner, ugh. Can't wait for him to be replaced. They need to get Russell T. Davies back, or someone similar. A few problems I had with the Matt Smith run, all due to the bad writing. Spoilers! Onto Orphan Black Season 2 now.
  2. ^ You've got a great memory 'tep. Another developer was SEverts (Scott Everts) but wasn't a mod. He had a lizard man avatar. I do remember when the NWN Nights forums was on BIS and then taken away. And you're right, Josh did moderate Ye Olde. Near the end of the BIS days, The Citybuster became a mod for Ye Olde as well. And then Helgi (I think he changed his name to helgi korre or something like that) also became a mod for Ye Olde. Alla'deaty was one of the mods for WWOT from memory. kattija and Pirotess were mods of the BG2 forums? Lord Chaos was another mod. hankinator was a mod as well. Same with Rachel, Missy and I think Kate Gould (not her real last name) became a mod. And Fionavar was in charge of the Tech files with industry news. I also remember when the post count was taken away from WWOT and it didn't record your posts anymore. Something that continues with Obsidian.
  3. I didn't know you created a second account Amentep. You must have been spamming a lot to have over 5000 combined. I think I only had about 1500 posts to my name. Although I primarily posted in the Ye Olde Political forum and even then only posted in a few threads. Mostly reading the other threads. Does anyone remember who the mods were for all the different sub-forums and list them all?
  4. Amentep is Lady of Pain. Also, I'm sure Amir ul'mumineem went by another name as well.
  5. Talking about names. Here's some random names I haven't seen in a long time. The Citybuster Dargoth (always enjoyed reading the Dargoth vs Yrkoon debates. Learnt a lot about Israel and Palestine) DasCePeAffe hankinator Karasu Tioma
  6. damn, always brings back memories when I see all those names. Tjol, Balrog, Ald, MMTech, Dogg, John the Banisher, Ankarra.
  7. I can understand one reason why the dev's don't post as much as they used too. Feargus' Kickstarter comment when I asked him about Publishers caused a **** storm and spread like wild fire on gaming media sites. And a lot of speculation from gamers on who the publisher was. Wanting to know the name of the publisher never crossed my mind. I asked a question, Feargus answered. That was it as far as I was concerned. There wasn't really anything like that back then. I think Josh made a comment about D&D or some rules system which was controversial. But other than that the dev's were pretty open and approachable. Now, they have to be careful with everything they say. Kickstarter has changed that and we're seeing the dev's open up and interact a little, but it's not the same as it used to be. Different times. Another good thing back then was Chris Avellone posting quite a bit and doing the Fallout Bible. Now we never see Chris post here.
  8. The Ye Olde political forum discussed things like Israel/Palestine, 9/11, the Iraq War, Science, Religion, Evolution, History, Philosophy, anything political and for the most part was well behaved. Even Josh posted in it a fair bit. There was also more discussions in each game forum for games like Fallout, Baldurs Gate, IWD, Torment, etc. You also had the hardcore Fallout fans which were funny to see. I also posted in the BG and IWD forums. And general feedback was good with talking to the dev's. Even if they copped some criticism from different posters, they had pretty thick skin. The dev's also showed photos with different events, even stuff they did in the office like Halloween. It's was pretty good. It was a lot more active than these boards as you have so many different games, a lot of different types of gamers including hardcore gamers (eg.Fallout) and social media was very different back then, almost non-existent to some degree. Sites like Facebook and My Space weren't around back then.
  9. ...l believes Perky (real nom Damien Foletto) works fer microsoft now...one o' the things I misses the most 'bout the ol' boards was how active all the Devs was... Perky, Briareus, Maldonado, Kevin Osburn, Bloodlust, Sawyer, Fergie, Jessica (*Homer Drool Face*), Proxi (anyone else but me remembers him??...Volo should, at least, he made the rounds on Tiax's ol' Boards once Black Isle let him go), etc...helped make us waht we was, they did, an' ne'er got enuff credit fer it... Yeah, the dev's were more active back then, including Feargus. And it was really interesting reading his posts. With things like what Black Isle did with QA on the Baldurs Gate series.
  10. I remember the Spam Train. All aboard!
  11. I recently finished the second season of The Americans. Even better than the first. Also, Orphan Black is a great show. I have all the episodes of Season 2 put aside except for the last which airs this Saturday coming. I'll start watching it in a couple of days.
  12. I miss Deslaar. He was always fun to see in the Ye Olde Political forum. There's probably another 15-20 people I can name. I think I remember someone by the name of Helge or something similar and he became a mod. And I think there was a bit of contention with him and no idea what that was all about, or maybe I'm not recalling correctly.
  13. Just the member list here. http://s6.zetaboards.com/MistressLair_Redux/members/ There's not many people. I do remember Kate and Shadiou from the BIS forums.
  14. This Godzilla avatar is what I used on the BIS forums.
  15. I just logged onto the old board and looked at the members list. I remember quite a few of those names.
  16. There's something about that Orc in the front right of the picture is in a submissive position on his hands and knees.
  17. The Mystery of Happiness an Argentinian movie I saw at the Sydney Film Festival because my partner wanted see a movie at the festival. It was meh and a bit creepy weird at times. But because it's an independent film screening at film festivals, it seems to be getting good reviews and the reviewers don't even criticise or gloss over the adultery (implied or otherwise) because it's all about 'happiness' that the characters are enjoying. ugh. Pretentious dreck. Love. Love. Love. was a nice little short 10 min Russian film that screened before The Mystery of Happiness which was far better.
  18. 300: Rise of an Empire (2014). Watched this and not as good as the first one. It was okay but really couldn't connect with the main lead. It was like watching a mix of Spartacus and Strike Back with Sullivan Stapleton as the main character. Felt like a straight to dvd release instead of a blockbuster like the first movie. Seen the first one a few times but this I wouldn't watch again. Non-Stop (2014). This was fun to watch and really enjoyed it. Liam Neeson was great and I love these type of plane thriller disaster movies. Liam Neeson is beginning to look a little type-cast, however he plays this role well so I don't care.
  19. I don't watch it. Mad Men seems like a good show but I'm already watching quite a lot shows at the moment and won't be watching it. I already have a lot of TV shows (something like 200+) that I haven't seen put aside to watch at a later date, and most likely won't get around for some years. But at least I have a lot of entertainment to watch over the next decade. I did recently catch up with Game of Thrones Season 4 over the weekend including watching the latest episode last night. Has been a terrific season. I'm now watching Black Sails at the moment.
  20. Well there was a lot of dead and skinned human carcases. Oh and they did have a BBQ going as well.
  21. Frozen (2013). I watched this today because one of the main character's (Elsa) will be appearing in the TV show Once Upon a Time next season and I have no idea who or what that character is. I don't get around to watching the classic Disney animated movies anymore but this was actually quite good. And now I can't wait to see her in the TV show.
  22. The Americans - Season 2. This show just gets better. Loved the episode where the scientist was trying to explain Arpanet and 'virtual space', how computers are all hooked up together sharing information. The look on Phillip's face was most of this was going over his head.
  23. The Lego Movie. Really surprised how good this was. Totally enjoyed it.
  24. After watching the Hannibal TV Series, I decided to watch the movies again. Haven't watched them in a long time. Manhunter (1986). When watching this, I immedately noticed two things. The first is how much the TV series is like this movie with Hugh Dancy (from the TV Series) looks like a young William Peterson. The second is the character of Will Graham acts very similar but one notable difference, in the movie he describes what's happening and the schlock horror isn't present which I find very effective. It's almost as if the TV show is mostly based on this movie with snippets from the other movies. The way WIlliam Peterson's Will Graham goes through the scenes by himself, working out things and talking to himself. It was like watching the TV show. Also, Will Graham doesn't rely as much on Hannibal and is able to work out a lot of the things in the movie by himself. Great performances from all the actors. Red Dragon (2002). I immediately watched this after Manhunter and it was jarring to see Edward Norton in the very first scene coming from William Peterson's portrayal in Manhunter. While I'm a fan of Norton in other movies, he's horribly miscast in this movie. There's a bit of schlock horror when he's describing the same scenes of the first murder which isn't present in Manhunter and it doesn't add anything to the scene. It really is a step down for the WIll Graham character in this movie. The reporter Lounds in Manhunter had a better role and was able to make him more of a character. You really didn't like him at all in the original movie. Hoffman would have done a better job had he been given the opportunity but there's no character development due to the script. The script is quite poor in a lot of areas and character development really suffers. It was the same as the Jack Crawford character. Better portrayed in Manhunter with Dennis Farina. Harvey Keitel doesn't bring anything to Red Dragon and I blame the script for that as well. There were some things that were better in Red Dragon like the start with Lecter being captured. It is interesting to see what scenes work better in each movie. There was also a lot more emphasis on the Hannibal character in Red Dragon when he should have been a minor character. It seemed Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal was competing for screen time with Ralph Fiennes' Dolarhyde. One good point with Red Dragon is it's more true to the book than Manhunter. What I didn't like was Will Graham in this version relied too much on Hannibal compared to the original movie where he works a lot of stuff out himself. I'd probably go with Manhunter due to Norton being horribly miscast, terrific performance from William Peterson, better character development and some scenes just worked better in the original movie, including scenes without the cheap schlock horror. Silence of the Lambs. (1991) Really enjoyed this after so many years of not seeing it. Scott Glenn does an amazing job as Jack Crawford. He comes across as competent and knows what he's talking about. It was also a stark contrast with Anthony's Hopkins portrayal of Lecter in this movie compared to Red Dragon. In Red Dragon, he was almost comical in some scenes. In this movie, he only appears for a brief time, around 16 minutes in a 2hr movie, but his performance is quite intelligent and menacing. Also was taken back with how young Jodie Foster is.
  25. It was more a figure of speech than anything. I agree. It really does show the quality of writing and acting with the show.
