With games (specifically) don't the marketers and the creators usually have a pretty different idea on what the target market is? The huge posters (I see around my city) of GTA definitely suggest themes that would appeal to those interested in criminal violence. I'm guessing the marketers don't mind taking in their money. The game creators who may have wanted a tad more sophisticated audience- may take slight offense, or maybe not. [a side note since this is my first post in the thread: I think the guy is a psychopath or has something wrong wit him; but this has been said 10000s of times already on various forums)

Its odd I think I'm one of the few people that found the Doom movie enjoyable. Not that I thought the plot was great or anything, but for a mindless popcorn flick I thought it was pretty decent. As for upcoming movies... Prince of Persia (and to a lesser extent Max Payne) have a decent cast ,even if they're not ideally suited for their roles, and directors that seem somewhat competent. I wouldn't expect them to be great movies, but probably will be around the same ilk as Silent Hill (if not a bit better- SH really had a horrid script IMO). The rest will probably suck. I like the Neal McDonough , who is playing Bison in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, but I don't think a lone actor can save a flick.

Some people will just fear you though, no ? I remember a while back Gaider or someone else (high on the food chain) saying that a fair amount of people would have a strong distrust (e.g. "They're witches!" type deal) towards anyone who can wield magic?

This is either an alt, or someone who catches on super quick! From mainly lurker observation Wrath is pretty active on the BIO boards, so (99% ) sure hes just quick.

Its been a while , since I played it when it first came out on the 360. But for the most part , they are pretty redundant (riding in the mako is kind of a bore, the same interiors are used over and over again, etc.). I feel like there were some interesting tidbits of knowledge you got regarding a shady organization , but most of the info you got seemed relegated to little data disks or purely-text observations your character made. Nothing spectacularly cool or anything..

I'm not huge fan of any of them. If I had to choose Bourne would probably win out. I'm probably in the minority, but I really dislike Bauer (so he isn't even in the running). Personally I like but he would be kind of a tough character to pull off in a game- in terms of how he solves situations at least.

All looks well and good. But I'm a bit disappointed that it looks like you won't be able to customize your character's appearance at all. Not a huge deal, buts (imo) its nice in games that have a huge multiplayer aspect.

Aside from everything else, I don't think this screenie is that bad.

The art director (that is still around) worked on the story for Diablo 1, and some of the Diablo 2 story people also did additional design. So it seems like they did other stuff as well, though a few of them I can't find anything else.. But I'm not doing an intensive search.

I'm assuming they meant the movie? The book wouldn't have been bad inspiration, though I don't know how well that would translate into game play. Keeping in mind of course I didn't watch the movie, but it looked pretty abysmal and drastically different than the original novel.

And WoW is pretty good (aside from the massive time investment imo) ...so not bad at all..

All the project and design leads for Diablo and Diablo 2 went to Flagship Studios, I believe. edit: the leader programmer for both games , and also the story people seem to have gone on to work on Hellgate also. one of the art directors from both games is still around

hmm nothing with pure but so far : Castle Crashers Fable 2 NwN2: Storms KillZone 2 Gears of War 2 Fallout 3 (*maybe*)the new Prince of Persia Dragon Age Aliens Rpg and LittleBigPlanet* looks like a lot of fun. *=might be the only one I'm really looking forward to

Not to mention they didn't do a damn thing to clarify that things had changed till after the release. They never reconfirmed information, but they neither denied it. And their strategy in marketing was the one where they wrote dev diaries that do not tell you any information, they just went on and on about their subjective experience in the game as opposed to any features. They also released vague hints of things that just left the audience bewildered. There was a competing hero bit in a some point. And until release (basically), we hear nothing of it, but we get a few shots of concept art featuring some of the heroes. Leaving the fanbase in a real limbo. The only things I remember them telling us early on that there would be no jumping, shields, and horses. But other than that they really didn't address any of the larger issues promised.
