  1. Did he mean you personally or just man in general? I mean, I took his comments to mean mankind, since he really couldn't have known you personally were hungry, horny, or in need of rest at this moment. Oh, I see, he's trolling. Bad Sarj. Stop trolling and attacking the good members of the fora. I think you need to go take care of your needs.
  2. I'm nothing but a bacteria factory. No, really, where humans go, they bring bacteria with them. We've got some sort of weird co dependancy or something.
  3. True comedy. ROFLMAO. Hades is also a fellow Zork fan, so it's all fitting.
  4. You silly folks. Well, I'm thinking mostly of the ideal of Freedom. That was, ostensibly, the rallying cry the Greeks raised when Persia invaded. Athens has a special place in my heart. Homosexuality was certainly seen in a different light than it is today, but you also have to take into account Greece's vast history, even in ancient times. It was seen in a variety of ways by different writers over the classical period. Finaly, I'm married, you yutz!
  5. I'm a classicist. I think Greece gave us everything, and they're the best. :D
  6. That's a reasonable statement, kumquat. Folks hate giving the United States credit for anything. We are exceptional. We have been a good influence on the world. ...But don't dare mention anything good about the US, even in the context of a larger discussion in which you give nod to the accomplishments of others and concede to failings of your own. Oh no! We can't have anything good said about the United States. Heaven forbid! It's just ridiculous.
  7. Aw, I don't think "ban plz" is particularly bad. I mean, I see those sorts of one liners all the time. Hades took offense, though, and so I thought I'd change the message. On the other hand, calling someone a "worthless" anything is probably bad. Anyhow, pipe down or I won't be in your hip pocket anymore. Now, as for folks killing each other in Iraq, I think we're lucky the lot of us aren't close packed in a room somewhere. We might not leave alive. Iraq isn't remarkable in that folks committ violence against each other there. Iraq just happens to be a place with a lot of opportunity for mayhem. I don't think we're going to end up in WWIII over Iraq. In the long term, I have faith that we'll end up okay in the end. ...But there are a lot of folks who will die in the meantime.
  8. You know what's funny? Is when two people argue in a thread and both report the other. hahaha. Hasn't happened in this thread, though. Seriously, though, send all "banz" requests to Eldar@lovethyneighborandstopbeingrudeandmean.com. Don't post them in the thread. Especially these silly two word requests. Don't worry, Hades, if we banned folks based on requests, there's someone who has both you and numbers beat hands down. I still think the ambush was horrible. Of course, I'm a self avowed wimp, so that shouldn't be surprising.
  9. lol. Comedy. You guys are just plain nuts. I'll have to use that line sometime.
  10. Not only is Wolf a CNN anchor, CNN is pilloried by the conservatives in the same way FOX is attacked by the liberals. I hate watching all of the prime time lineup. I like Neil Cavuto, although that's almost like a variety show sometimes, and I like Brit Hume. I think Cindy Sheehan is creating a media circus, with great help from the media. I also think her son paid for the privilege with his life. If you don't like what she has to say, don't listen, but she has every right to say it. I wouldn't have it any other way.
  11. Yeah, there would be some serious rioting if European football took breaks for commercials like American football does. To be honest, I prefer to play European football but I prefer to watch American football. Well, I don't really like to watch anything while playing sports in general is fun. Ahh, defense. Dishing out punishment to the other guy. As for the original topic, I agree with the view that it depends on other sources of entertainment in a city. If there's more competition for entertainment, then it makes sense that game attendance will suffer. If you live somewhere where the best entertainment to be found is the college football game, then the football game will have greater attendance. As time progresses, it makes sense that folks will become increasingly entrenched in their attitudes towards the sport, helping to solidify the significance of sporting events. At least that's how I see it from an outside perspective.
  12. Not only do the fools have no electricity for the moment, most of their houses are gone. Why loot a plasma TV when it's just going to be destroyed in transit? On the other hand, as kalimeeri says, if my family were thirsty and hungry, I'd loot food and water. I'd rather pay, but it's not like there are cashiers in the store ready to take money anyhow. Of course, of the things I consider worth risking my life, staying in my home in the face of oncoming destruction isn't one of them. My family and I would have been gone a long time before hand.
  13. Alas, I take no pleasure in the death of tigers. If I had to choose between the death of a human and the death of another animal, I would choose life for the human, imperfections and all. I don't really know you all that well Hades. I've seen you online for the some time and read a lot of what you have to say, and you have a lot to say. I've noted some of you tendencies and attitudes. Even though I don't really know you, I have come to the conclussion that, no matter how embittered, flippant, and obnoxious you seem at times, you are a decent human being at heart. It's a gut instinct. I believe, given the actual choice of life or death, you would choose the human also.
  14. I dunno, MADtv is good enough, I guess. Just not good enough to advertise on Obsidian's servers.
  15. You can't persecute the persecutor? Normally, I would love to engage in friendly banter on the subject, but I'm afraid I'm serious. For that reason, I'll answer Servant's comment and then ask folks to address further questions regarding my stance, which is entirely in keeping with the policies of this board. The rules are meant to protect folks from persecution. You give up your rights to protection once you take up the role of persecutor. As a moderator, enforcing the guidelines of this forum, I am not persecuting anyone. I am using my discretion to find the actual meaning of the guidelines. Let me ask this, does anyone think I would have been quite so angry about a comment like "I hate Christians" had it not been for the speculation concerning violence that followed? I'm not going to be embroiled in legalistic arguments concerning Hades' and Calax' status as "persecuted" members of these fora. I am called to use my discretion, and I discern that hate speech against Christians is just as hateful as it is against any other group. I will not engage in a long discussion in this thread. Hopefully, we can get back to a discussion of the unfortunate people down in New Orleans. If you have further questions, comments, or zings, address them to me in a PM.
  16. Good way to bring the topic back, Ender. With the Hurricane killing people here and folks killing each other in Iraq, it's been a depressing day.
  17. Let's try this again. I was reading this thread thinking, "well, getting into more anti-Christian talk. *shrug* it happens." Then I thought to myself, what other group would be a legitimate target for a statement such as "I hate ____." Think of what the reaction would be if someone were to say, "I hate black people." "I hate Mexicans." "I hate Jews." "I hate Muslims." "I hate Arabs." How about this, you can voice your dislike for the religion. You can cite specific instances of persecution, real or perceived, you have suffered at the hands of Christians. You can engage in arguments with Christians and advocate your personal beliefs. ...But you cannot target Christians in way that would not be permitted for other religions or ethnic groups. In other words, I will be handing down warnings and dishing out moderated status to folks who cannot be civil about other folks religious beliefs. Then of course, the thread turned towards speculation of the sorts of violence the members could inflict upon Christians. That simply won't work. If it would be a discriminatory statement against any other religion or ethnicity, I will consider it as such for Christians. You have been warned.
  18. That would be too bad. I would rather see a classic RPG set in Icewind Dale. I'm not much for forgotten Realms, but BIS did a good job with it. I don't mind action RPGs, but we haven't seen a really great party based RPG for a long time. NWN is only party based in multiplayer, and I never got into it. The KotOR series, which is excellent, has a strange way of dealing with the party. It worked, but I'd like something with four to six member party and full control . If the only games on the horizon will be action RPGs, I'll live with it better than a lot of other people, but it will be a shame nonetheless.
  19. G A Y Waiting Room --Fugazi <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quite festive. Down Under -- Men at Work
  20. Ah, Hades, you don't like anything. DA wasn't such a bad game. I'd love to see IWD3. If they bought it, I have a feeling they want to put their best into it. Take enough time and get the job done right. It would also make sense to have Sawyer on board for IWD3 since he was a designer for the first two. I'm not sure what to make of Sawyer, but I'm willing to bet that we could possibly see the best IWD yet if Obsidian has done well enough to take a sufficient amount of time. If they're planning on announcing IWD3, I think the boards will erupt with some serious mayhem but, now that antimatter and CarzyJoe are back, we have enough folks to keep the mayhem to a minimum. I for one would be very happy to see IWD3. The first on is one of my favorite games. The second one was a good game I enjoyed quite a bit.

  22. I remember that thread fondly. The topic in this thread can move hither and yon. The topic moves pretty freely in all these threads. I think the levity is good, but I don't want it to get too goofy for purely selfish reasons. I don't want to get angry PMs regarding spam in a serious thread, etc. "People keep maintaining that only an idiot would take pride in this country. I disagree. Only an idiot would say we are a country without flaw. Many of our flaws are not unique to this nation, while some are. But despite our flaws, I remain unabashedly unashamed of my country and I was proud to wear the uniform of a US Marine." I cannot find a way to improve your message and so quote it here.
  23. So speaks the kid who goes down to Mexico to build churches and clinics for the needy. pshaw. :D I notice that Melodie hangs out at Missy's. I hope she's doing well.
  24. I'd never even heard of this Bubble Bobbly game. The song does raise my blood pressure dangerously.
  25. Swine! All of you! Soon I will be forced to lock this thread, which has obviously been talked out already, and then you will have no choice but to put all this non-sense in the Wildcard thread, which is nothing but non-sense in the first place. ...And, to make an on topic comment, the only fascist states we've actually seen were pretty brutal. Saying that Spain's wasn't as bad what they had in Germany and Italy isn't saying much.
