To avoid throwing in my questions and concerns into this post, which could not be made without spoilers, I'll point to this thread (fair warning: no spoiler tags folks) which is the one I asked my original set of questions in and expanded on. Some of been commented on and (at least partially) cleared up. Others are just blank. It isn't understanding what I was trying to accomplish at any point in the story -- it was a lot of "why" that was never really answered after my second trip to Dantooine, and the many new subpoints to the plot that are just left hanging.
-
I agree with Annakie. Especially if you are playing a Female character. If you are playing a Male character, I would push Dantooine back to #3. This is because Disciple will join you if you are Female, but will not if you Male. So, if you are a Female character, Annakie's list will get you everyone as soon as possible. Being a Male, push Dantooine to #3 and you get the same effect. Just for continuity, I would not suggest Onderon last. I did that my first game and some things happen that just are weird if it is the last planet.

Just keeping things on top. Anyone have any updates for some of the members we are missing so far? Sorry for the bumping. I really hate bumbers myself, so I'm being very hypocritical here I know. I just think this would be really useful to have in one spot.

Storyline Questions .... Spoilers
Boiler98 replied to blackriderx's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
#1 - this is one of the many little twists in the story are are never cleared up. T3-M4 stuns HK-47 to prevent him unlocking the navicomputer, but he suddenly seems to forget about it afterwards. It is never explained who voice locked the computer, and why T3 is protecting the lock. You have the opportunity to *guess* at those answers when you reach the end. #2 - I was never able to get anything more with this. I am not sure if you can move this forward or not, and I am not sure where they put that factory within the scope of the planets you have available to you. #3 - Again, one of those things that isn't well explained and you are left to look back on the event and say "I bet that is it!" GO-TO and Remote have one last interaction at the end, which seems to indicate the purpose of GO-TOs actions. Bao-Dur's reaction to the destruction of Remote, or rather the lack of reaction, is never explained. #4 - No, I can't. I have a similar thread with my "concerns" about that the problems with the KotOR2 storyline. This is #2 on my list. #5 - Mira has continuely denied the life debt and seems to almost scoff at it. Hanharr seems to repect the concept behind the life debt but doesn't want to owe one to Mira -- killing her would clean that problem up. He is conflicted about his obligations as such. That is my take. #6 - This is #4 on my "what the heck!?" list I mentioned earlier. My thing is Mira doesn't seem to really help, her "roll" on M5 is not seen. My take on Kriea's later future talk is the whole "the future is difficult to see, it is always moving" that is commonly used (both in game and movie). #7 - Both Sion and Nihilis are horribly underdeveloped. Sion looks that way just because through everything that has happened to him in life, but the Dark Side "holds him together". Kreia may have had a hand in some of it. Nihilis is never explained. He just ends up being something to confuse you. -
Simple yes/no question: Is ...the end..
Boiler98 replied to EldestCosmonaut's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Don't abandon your game just because of that. The ending is no different based on Influence, so you can at least see it and then start a new one working towards better Influence with your party. Does Swoop Racing actually do anything this time? I did it all the way through in KotOR1 during a later game I played, but nothing really came of it. -
Simple yes/no question: Is ...the end..
Boiler98 replied to EldestCosmonaut's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You're mistaken, sorry. Once you learn that you should return to Dantooine you can go to any planet. I actually went to Korriban first and checked to see if the door was still locked (I was going to blow up the door to Uthar's old room). Then I went to Dantooine. Once you are on Dantooine you have to run to the Enclave, so you can do a few things on planet before you enter there. But, I certainly didn't expect that I would be totally helpless after talking with the Jedi Masters. I thought I would at least be given a new nav point to Malachor V (like I was the Unknown World in the first) and could fly there when ready. -
As long as you don't take a swing at the enemy you can use multiples, even if they are highlighted. I promise.

No trouble. Feel free to pass the link around if you don't want to directly move the pictures through e-mail, I shouldn't need to take them down anytime soon. Good dialog in that one picture for passing along to friends. (w00t)
-
Yes, but the game also pauses before the first attack. You can use any number of items during this initial pause.
-
I assume you have some health packs at least. Also you probably have a fair compliment on stimulants, unless you made it a habbit of selling or breaking them down as you progressed in the game. Use those before you fight. Also be aware that there are tricks to using items and healing yourself more quickly. When the battle first starts (i.e., the game pauses just before Traya attacks), go into your inventory and use one of each stimulant. As you are fighting, if you need to heal, go into your inventory and heal there -- it will not take a turn to do. After your first attack, you can only use 1 item from your inventory per turn. Before the first attack, you can use as many as you want. If you need Life Support Packs... clear out the other wing of the Academy, if you only went up one side. You will get at least 5, probably closer to 10.

If it is an *optional* side quest then yes! Requiring the player to complete an optional side quest or dialog in order to understand the stories *major* plotline is bad story telling (interactive or not). Requiring the player to complete an optional side quest or dialog in order to gain a more *in depth* understanding of the story, its characters and motivations, is good story telling. You've pointed out that you lack the foundation to base your arguments on. You have not reached the points within the game people are dissatisfied about and therefor you do not know if their approach, if any different from your own, is at all flawed. When you reach those points and you can point back to a dialog (side quest, series of dialogs, or the combination of the two) which explains the gap, I will be very interested in the hearing about what I missed. I don't remember any plot threads that were left dangling at the end of KotOR1. Perhaps if you tell me what you are confused about I can help you with clearing those up. When you finished KotORII, if I still have questions, you can help me clear them up. KotOR1 ended with "what next?". In the absence of a sequal the player could imagin what happens next. KotOR2 is also ended with a "what next?", but there is also a "what the...!?" as to what had just happened, what you had accomplished and why you had done it. I have several examples of instances where a point is made, which is supposed to be relevant to my immediate situatation, and is never answered. Many of which happen toward the *end* of the game, some so late that you have no ability to converse with a party member or run off on a side quest that may hold the answer. To use the movie analogies: "Empire Strikes Back" is somewhat of a cliff-hanger, with several questions left unanswered. However, there is no confusion as to what the characters were trying to accomplish and why they were doing what they were doing in ESB. It is not required you see "Return of the Jedi" in order to understand ESB. All the immediate situations within the storyline are wrapped up, but you are left with a feeling of "what's next?". That's good story telling. Matrix 2, created many questions, but forces you to watch the third movie to understand the motives of the characters during the past 2 hours. You are left with a feeling of "what the...!?". This is bad story telling. It is the number of "what the...!?" threads that were left at the end of this game that I have a problem with. They have nothing to do with my lack of effort towards side quests, or "getting to know" my ship mates -- they are plot threads that are never truely addressed.

Robes were different from the first, but you had just about as many options as you did the first. I think there were 2-3 different styles of robe, with several different colors. I missed the red and blue robes. I used the initiate "robes" for the game. I don't remember which one I ultimately used, but they were a lot better then the Jedi robes. Better defense, better dex bonus, plus multiple stat bonuses.

Request for those who get the game (Spoilers)
Boiler98 replied to Nikko's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sorry Nikko, ran into some other things... like the game. I updated the other thread I started too. From that post: -
Sorry, I got sidetracked. http://www.rightstep.org/kotor/nikko/ The texture mapping just took me aback at first. The head seems to be too small for the body too. Not to detract from the prize though, congrats on that!

Question about how the game handles a character...
Boiler98 replied to Annakie's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Telling you what changes would take away reply value! All I really know different from a LS Female Revan is a LS Male Revan, but telling you what changes would tell you some of your ending too. If you really want to know: -
Indeed. I look forward to you expanding on your argument based on the replies. I welcome the opportunity to hear what I missed within the story which seemed to me to be extremely fragemented at the end. I've expressed some of my confusion in another thread. Some of which has been addressed, some which as not. The story is immense indeed, but that does not take weight away from the simple truth that the story should stand on its own and not rely on any sidequests or optional dialogs. Such optional quests/dialogs should *add* to the story, not define it. You're the one who (indirectly) made the point that I am an idiot and a sloth for not fully understanding the story at the end, and being dissatisfied at the end. I feel I've more then adequately pointed out that someone who takes their time with the quests and dialog, to understand the story, can be very dissatisfied at the end. I enjoyed the character interaction and thought the story was fantastic... all the way up until I went to Dantooine the second time. At which point the plot twists created when I spoke to the Jedi Masters on Dantooine were quickly... not explained. The whos, whys and whats of why I should care about about flying to the next point was not there. You playtime is very much relivent for the points you are making. You have not even reached the points people are dissatisfied with and you are criticizing them for their views on something you've never seen. You are insulting people who believe a book has a poor ending, when you are still in the first chapter. The speeder / power cell quest, as I've said before, is an optional side quest. The solidification of the plot should not hinge on side quests. I eagerly await.

Bith scientist and speeder(spoiler)
Boiler98 replied to Lacan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ya, I do remember them. I don't remember how to spell it either. As for the power cell, there is your replay value. Just make sure to ask for one of his cells in return for helping him next time. I missed this fact my first time through as well. -
I'm not sure which prestige Force Crush is under. I *think* Sith Lord, but am not sure. It is not the same as Crush Opposition though. I think Force Sight is just the ability to see danger ahead, which you get at the beginning. I could very possibly be wrong. Visas can see force sensitive people, and their alignment, so I didn't think about it too much. You do not get more manually levelable Force powers when you go to a Prestige class, but you will get different bonus powers as you level up through that class.

Bith scientist and speeder(spoiler)
Boiler98 replied to Lacan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The Bith scientist seems to be complete. I had that same scenario happen and my quest entry claims that it is finished. Seemed kinda pointless to me. For the speeder, I missed this one so I am not sure you can return to it. The powercell you need, however, can be obtained in a few places. I've heard that some people might give it to you as a reward (random), but the best way is to ask for a power cell in return for helping the Ithorian who can't pay the dock master. -
No, you must fight them. Personally I didn't have too much trouble with the battle. I don't remember using stimulants, but I certainly remember using a shield generator. Tossing a few stims in there might make it easier. If you still have trouble, another poster mentioned that he ran behind the counter and just shot them down from there. The path finding supposedly does not allow the sisters to go around.

I'll go with adding a lack of "ability" to that, but am going to have to stay with Ignorance being the lack of knowledge or education.
-
Sorry in advanced, but this is just one of those buttons I have. Ignorance and stupidity are not that same. Ignorance is the lack of knowledge. For example, I am totally ignorant when it comes to brain surgery. That does not make me stupid. Stupidity is the lack of intelligence, the tendancy for making the wrong choice, or being a slow learning. However, as just pointed out, ignorance and stupidity are often seen as the same thing and it is unwise to call someone ignorant without the immediate ability to express your true meaning. Without that facility (such as a Internet message forum) meanings are lost and a discussion quickly degrade into "idiot" and "stupid newb". This was my original point -- not what was said, as Runs With Scissors never said "idiot", but what it turns into. Indeed, a perfectly valid point that is made no less legitimate because it so happens to be his first post. ... and if you happen to agree when you are done MasterNeo, please fill me in on what I missed.

Stuck on Naar Shaadar *spoiler warning*
Boiler98 replied to JediMafia's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I do not remember "Lootra". Sorry. For the other two points... just keep playing. They'll happen. -
Is there a list of Party members here?
Boiler98 replied to JediMafia's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Atris does not join your party. One of her handmaidens will if you are a male character. If you are female, Discliple will join instead. If you are lightside, Mira will join. If you are darkside, Hanharr will instead. Everybody else is automatic. -
I had a little trouble with this too. I had Kriea and Atton (with gun) in my party and the beast killed Kreia rather quickly. I kept healing and healing to keep myself alive. Then I switch to Atton and *suddenly* he started landing every shot and the beast went down in 10 seconds. It was amazing. So, trying switching between a few characters and make sure they are helping.
