  1. ... And people say that computer games aren't educational.
  2. The US is filthy with it, too.
  3. Drinking and sleeping in? That's a major in every university.
  4. The continent has rabies, correct?
  5. Rocking chairs don't mix with kitty-cats ..!
  6. I struggle to find any relevance to the category ... what does it matter if a game is called an RPG? It doesn't affect the producers or the developers, they will just make the games people want to play (ideally) and the public will play the games they like. A rose by any other name ...
  7. Have you pondered the new MMO called The Agency?
  8. What's more awesome is that the developers would have been strategically hiding a lot of the plasmid upgrades available to the PC in the latter part of the game from the reviewers, so there is probably a lot of subtly different ways to crack a given area.
  9. Informative aside: one parsec is just over 3 lightyears. (10^16m = ten thousand billion kilometers).
  10. Hahaha! That'll go into my sig. You're so evil. I can't believe you. Now my humiliation will be immortalized in your signature. Maybe I should just leave this board. Thanks, meta. Look what you did. Hey, I didn't put it in my sig!
  11. I thought there was a difference in Balder's Gate? Or was that Fallout?
  12. I made the musket reference because I'm currently reading 1759: The Year Britain Became Master of the World, and in 1759 wars were fought with muskets, rifles and cannons. The point stands, though, because the Scots were renown for their tenacious fighting for a long time beforehand ... even back in Braveheart times (what's that, the thirteen century?). It just wasn't until after the signing of the Act of Union made it possible for the English to use the Scots, and not until after Bonny Prince Charlie's aborted putsch in the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 that the English made special efforts to deploy the Highlanders as far away from Scotland as possible.
  13. I wondered why your photo was up in the post office.
  14. They were experimenting with a "Depression" bomb, too.
  15. I like the ones I've met.
  16. Do the British forces have a special unit for the Highlanders? Recently I've been reading about a lot of historical campaigns, and the Highland regiments were the shock troops of the British Empire. They were nearly always put in the worst part of a battle, given little consideration and left to be cannon fodder, yet more often than not wound up turning the battle with sheer courage and indefatigable violence. (The shout of "Claymore!", which was the signal for the Scots to change from their muskets/whatever to their broadswords, used to send the opponents scuttling.) I doubt the British Empire would have been anything like what it ended up as without these doughty fighters in every theatre.
  17. *sticks fingers in ears and runs and hides*
  18. What effect does casting a sex change spell on a character have? Change the strength and wisdom? Play a female character!
  19. That Star Trek game wa apparently ported over from the early mainframes, too, like the Colossal Cave. I could play that game now ... trying to work out the angles to send your photon torpedoes in real-time, whilst the Enterprise was under attack ... good times! That was the game I spent the entire week playing, when my father rented an Apple //e to see if I'd use one if he bought it. :D
  20. I just tried to watch Miami Vice. Colin Farrell is terrible. He gives new meaning to the word "abominable". What was he trying to do, imitate Don Johnson's mannerisms? Badly? Even the usually excellent Jamie Foxx can't save this film. I fell asleep after about half an hour ... poor Michael Mann, this isn't one of his better jobs. I was really trying to give the film a fair chance, too. I shall endeavour to watch the rest of it ... but it just doesn't have any appeal: the car chases are bland, the script is snoresville, and Farrell just can't pull off a tough guy ... I mean, Don Johnson's about as tough as a preschool girl's clapping circle, but at least he can act tough. Farrell just looks lost.
