  1. It's obvious that the manual is wrong for a number of reasons: 1. Refers to "Damage Threshold" which has been renamed/removed from the game 2. In one section discussing hows Perception and Resolve increase deflection... but in a later section completely contradicts this by stating that no attribute increase deflection. 3. http://eternity.obsidian.net/manual/errata
  2. Yes. Everything can. In the Backer Beta the Priest was arguably the default tank.
  3. Interesting. I want to say that the tooltip is wrong. Sensuki has said it's 150% and It also doesn't make sense for it to be 125% since guns have a reduction of .3 would would make a crit .95 (1.25 - .3) and thus worse than a normal hit.
  4. My understanding was crits are 150% but there are some exceptions for some items like guns which are generally 120%. They are listed in the tooltips for those items. Can you link or screenshot your source?
  5. This is so much better than all the crap and reviews from the "professional" community.... And worth it alone to realize that I should be playing in 1900 X 1080 instead of 1900 X 1200 :/
  6. Sadly there are still a number of references in game which refer to firearms piercing the veil. Edit: The manual also mentions it.... so maybe firearms do ignore arcane veil.... even though veil is already weak
  7. Every fight that I can think of from the beta hard meant more enemies and not upgraded enemies. If you simply "upgraded" the enemies that would be de facto stat scaling which is exactly what they tried to avoid. I'm not saying they don't exist, but I can't think of any examples.
  8. After drawing blood the BB Priests starting pike has a very odd red coloring...
  9. Floating wolf in one of the youtube videos after being confused and knocked out... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq3ddThreoU#t=19m54s
  10. Again 1. These people got early copies 2. They have had these copies for days 3. These are "professional" streamers/reviewers 4. They tend to be fans of the IE games and should be familar with basic mechanics and the ability to adapt to new ones 5. They are showing off how to play the game I hold them to a much higher standard than some new guy who is playing his first 5 minutes. Also, I find engagement to be very intuitive. When Josh announced it I thought it made perfect sense. This mechanic also exists in other games.
  11. To give you control of the battle. Especially if enemies are playing smart and ignoring your tanks and targeting your squishies. Also kiting It's up for debate whether they have accomplished the goal.
  12. My point has nothing to do with being a strawman or not (it wasn't a stawman btw). I was agreeing that you make a fair point. But its a logical argument. This is a game that revolves a lot around "feels." You can logic all day long but it's not going to get you anywhere when it comes to how someone "feels." Immersion is a very "feely" thing, not a logical thing.
  13. I don't think so which is why these streams do actually highlight some of the issues with the game. Yes a lot of the streamers/let's players are quite bad but the game itself doesn't always give info that is vitally needed. Even if you read the manual it may not be easy for a new person looking at countless classes, abilities and talents to remember some small note about an engagement system and what that means from a gameplay perspective. Also a lot of people have played Infinity Engine games recently thanks to the Enhanced Editions, in those games running away and kiting are very prevalent tactics. Then they come to this game and think things work the same, especially since there's no 'Attack of Opportunity' indicator like in Neverwinter Nights/ToEE games. So their no armor wizard tries to run away from the big bad enemy and gets destroyed by engagement attacks. It absolutely does have a tooltip on engagement. Most of these people just click past them. It's pure laziness and I would hold those that got a copy to a much higher standard. These people have had the game for days.
  14. Sadly there is not unique interaction between arcane veil and firearms. It just gives some deflection.
  15. Agreed text guide would be great. But that's rather different than a transcript for a video. ^
  16. Update #92 Stop reading. Go play. Stay tuned for update #93 Wizard hats DLC
  17. Consider not doing a transcript. You sound a lot better when you just speak naturally. (You didn't transcript your "Sensuki's story" video, and that came off very well) And your accent lets you get away with just about everything.
  18. At the very least it will drop more because more things to kill...
