Yeah, forget about influence system and what have you. The critical path of the game is finding the contested object (the ball) and in true fed-ex style deliver it behind the line in the enemy goal!

A true artist is no more... He was the best - and always will be the best. His knowledge of beer is unsurpassable. His genius was to to be able to write simply and beautifully about beer.

Based on the quote alone, I definitely wouldn't trust that guy. beloved universe - beloved by who? The gamers who loved the universe or the people who are calculating the net worth of the universe in hard currency? faithful to the series legacy - based on what criteria? He uses way more words than necessary to basically say, "I liked the demo" without any substance as to why other people should like (or dislike for that matter) it. Now I may have to read the rest at the end of the link...

I remember my CS (Computer Science) years as beeing a mixture of a bit of class attending, some project work, lots of beer (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Saturdays and Sundays were spent working on the project we neglected due to beer the other days). Listening to a lot of badly recorded Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Cult and B52's while consuming a lot a beer while working on the projects... and then the geeky stuff like running a Mud secretly without the sysadmin knowing it, hacking guest teachers printer accounts, getting suspended, arguing about what a real in the flesh girl would possible look like (5% of the students were female)... oh, and getting a lot of grey hair in your early twenties

There seems to be a curse in the world of game design... The third game in a franchise sucks  Having very unfond memories of Tombraider III, Lords of Midnight III, Master of Orion III etc. Now off to grab the latest 1.13 downloads. JA2 the awesomest tactical combat game around. More like a tactical combat/rgg hybrid really.

I am one third the way through a game of the above. When not playing that, I am having a go at Master of Orion 2

From their project forum: [PR] - Possible Restoration [TBR - Member] - To Be Restored by Member Ebon Hawk [TBR - TA] Ratrin Vek on the Ebon Hawk - During the Red Eclipse invasion, the PC can sell Ratrin Vek into slavery. [TBR - JD] Visas and Handmaiden go at each other. In vishand in 003 the audio makes an obvious change to a "winded" sound for both Visas and the Handmaiden as if they have just exchanged blows. The dialog itself supports this theory. Dantooine [PR] Disciples Hidden Holocron - Disciple takes the Exile into a hidden, locked room in the Enclave and displays a holocron as well as recording of when the Exile left for the Mandalorian Wars, leaving a padawan without a master behind. Nar Shaddaa [TBR - Dash] The Zhug Brothers Chase - When the players go to rescue the Exile from Goto, the leader tells the others to follow the Ebon Hawk. Onderron [TBR - JD] The Sith Revelation - If the PC sides with Vaklu, the Sith will notice that the beasts no longer obey them. The Sith order Vaklus death for the betrayal. Once these are done, I'll start getting truly excited about the bug count. Until then, it is just a fun way of passing time

That people can get so exited about (literally) nothing Interesting idea from that Oja guy, the universe is a sheet of polystyrene. I wonder if we could take shortcuts, crossing the emptyness of the bubbles to get faster from one place to the next. Yes, send in the marines

Ros, what's this about Make Up... please tell me it involves a Kiss concert I am: Bring on the slave girls and the booze!

The French and Belgian stuff is more or less the stuff I care about. Writers and illustrators like Uderzo, Peyo (yes, smurfs), Franquin, Tardi, Herge, Gireaud, Goscinny, Jije, Van Hamme, Hermann, Tillieux, Walthery, Cauvin, Greg, Dany, Martin, Hubinon, Arleston, Bourgeon, Caza, Fournier, Jodorowsky etc. Honorable mention goes to Vicente Segrelles (Spain). I might have read the odd comic by others, but I can't really remember any from top of my head.

You should have asked if all male Rashemen berserkers have pet hamsters Nice read, now put the game on the street already (don't even think about mentioning the ch****mas sale word)

Was it a cameo or a coincidence that there is a "Ribsmasher" in NWN2?
-
Congratulations Is now the right time to whine and complain about not appearing on the PC?

Good morning lemmings...

Sorry, I should have mentioned that :blush10: Just happened to read that joke about order and chaos 10 minutes before clicking on the link... and being told that my computer refuses to play .ram files. Can you give a "summary" on what it is about?

Did Kreia Ever Say Revan is more powerful than Nihilus?
Gorth replied to Nikkolas's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Except when he tried to suck the force out of the Exile. That must have felt like french kissing a 1200W vacuum cleaner. -
And for those of us who refuses to touch Real Media and it's various permutations even when wearing asbestos gloves. UNIVERSAL POKER: Is each here? Does each have his opposite? I am here, but my opposite is you. Huh? Don't let him bug ya'. We're here. My opposite is not here. Is your opposite "Lies"? My opposite is "Void". He couldn't make it. >snicker Agh! How are we going to seat five! This table is made for six! Just take out his chair and move over. Sheesh! I have the cards. I've got the chips. I have the beer. I have the cards! Shut up. ... Whose deal is it? Do ya' gotta ask that EVERY time? It is Good's deal. OK, five card draw...uh, everything is wild. How can anyone win if everything is wild? No ONE can win, but we all can call ourselves winners if... I like this game. This is pointless. It is time to deal. Here we go! Your bet, Truth. Five. Five and raise you five. Don't you morons get it? It doesn't matter how much you bet! I like ten better. >sigh I fold. YOU CAN'T LOSE! I still fold. OK, I'll call. How many, Truth? What's the point in taking more cards? I will keep the cards I have. I will take two. Why?!? I didn't like those. None for me. I'll take six. Sorry, you folded. Dealer keeps his. Bets? Oh, just get this over with. But now we have to bet! Any money you put in, you're just gonna get back! I am in agreement with Evil. Let us show our cards. I have five aces. I have five ace of spades. I have a three. Please be quiet. I also have five aces. We all win. Hold it, bub. Six aces, read'em and weep. Where did you get that card? He stole it from Chaos. You know the rules, boys. The pot's mine. That was a stupid game. Whose deal is it? The dealer progression is opposite the deal. Chaos deals. Whee! >groan Eleven card stud-hold'em with threes, eights, jacks, and kings wild...fives count as fours, fours count as nines, and queens don't count unless there is a prime numbered spade showing... I fold... [Ed: written by Brian Cash (bcash@deletedbygorth.ca), and originally appeared in talk.bizarre]

Technically, Interplay still owns the Black Isle name and brand, don't they? It might just be a bit "understaffed" at the moment
-
Interplay is like Jason Voorhees. You just can't kill it! As for Fallout, it died when it was sold to Bethesda. They nailed the spirit of Fallout. You could hear it's desperate screams from within the coffin as they hammered the nails into the lid and dropped it into the ocean...

I think my favourites were Neeshka and Khelgar. Maybe it was because they were your first companions, maybe because they were the best "fleshed" out characters. It was the only ones I felt a kind of attachment to as a player. Runners up would be Qara and Grobnar. One because of her fiery temper and one because of... well not sure why. I just like Grobnar, despite him being a gnome (I hate gnomes) and a bard. As for the rest, they just "were" there. Tools that you needed to pass specific parts of the game, not party members by choice but by design. Zhaeve I found particularly annoying

How to destroy your company's image in one fell swoop
Gorth replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
True. But I would attribute that to stupidity and incompetence more than neglect and inefficiency. Perhaps a bit of corruption? The sewage tank manufacturer might be the nephew of the project manager. Maybe some kickback is involved? I have no idea how open organisations like the Red Cross are to public scrutiny and accountability, but then I don't think I ever gave anything to them. -
How to destroy your company's image in one fell swoop
Gorth replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
You might spend 3.75$ on materials and a bus ticket into the city centre to go out and campaign for "Save the Sea Turtle from our cooking pots!" Being a very unsexy, yet delicious animal, you might collect 4.00$ during a days collecting. On the other hand, you might spend 25.00$ on a poster with a "Red Cross" and a good looking girl (which you paid the 20.00$) helping a little hungry looking, large eye kid... and a bus ticket into the city centre and end up collecting 100.00$ to save the starving children of Sudan. One only spends 3.75$ the other a staggering 25.00$ -
How to destroy your company's image in one fell swoop
Gorth replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Or use "The Staff of Asclepius" (staff with snakes around it). Has the benefit of not being tied up with any one religion when you sell your game all over the world, never mind that the red cross may actually be a trademark. I think that's taken by the HMO Blue Cross. And I believe that if more than 50% of the donations get used for charitable necessities it's still considered a charitable organization. Just a few organisations who use it (from wikipedia): The World Health Organization The Star of Life - symbol of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians The American Medical Association The American Osteopathic Association The Canadian Medical Association The American Veterinary Medical Association The British Royal Army Medical Corps it is universally associated with medicine and healing. I seriously doubt any of those would have much luck claiming a millennia old symbol for their own.
