  1. Ian would've been so proud... I've had my own mage protagonist run up to the rest of the party (engaged in melee combat) and freeze all 3 team member while the enemy went unscathed. Made me think "Ian with a SMG"
  2. Something less "tactical"... Is there any use for the tonnes of junk you end up with in your inventory? I ended up with vases, blank scrolls, private papers etc. that never saw any use. Is it origin specific or should I just sell it all during my second play through (as a mage, my first game was human noble/fighter)? Any special use for or should I keep them in my characters inventory for DA2?
  3. I guess there are pros and cons for having most of Thedas on the map. Sometimes larger is better, but I liked the focus on a select part of the world. I keep imagining Ferelden as what celtic Brittany might have been without being occupied by the French (Orlesians). That is, without magic, darkspawn and other fantasy elements. If other parts if Thedas were given a similar treatment... as the names on the map suggests, it seems losely based on real world cultures. The main "villain" was probably the single most uninteresting aspect of the game though (imnsho). It felt like that not very compelling reason that forces your hand to go to the four planets potential allies and gather the pieces of the star map armies that enables you to go to the final encounter Hence, it's on my wishlist to see them elaborate on the political intrigues, corruption, religious conflicts, cabals of maleficar, assassinations and treason that made up the "fun" parts of the game. Lets have much more of that Not much point in guessing/wishing for particulars of origins/classes/skills etc. without having the context in place first (unless we assume it isn't too different from Ferelden).
  4. At least on paper, the sounds like a good bet for tying the two games together. Would be nice if it was set completely in a different part of the game world though, Orlais, Antiva or whatever. Something completely not figuring darkspawn at all would be nice
  5. The first time a missed penalty made me go out and get drunk The press photo of him standing there with his butt hanging halfway out of his pants was quite appropriate though. They really need to put a big statue of Sepp Piontek somewhere near the current venue (whatsitsname that replaced the old "Parken"?).
  6. I need two mods for this game... one that removes all head wear gfx and one that removes the obnoxious guy with the big yellow "BUY ME!" sign (I know, it's only a big exclamation neon sign but still) over his head in my camp
  7. Well finished the part of the game (human noble warrior) after the landsmeet for the first time. How it ended: As for that last battle... I might try a mage or a rogue next... probably a mage since both Zevran and Lelianna makes for pleasant party members.
  8. Thanks to contributors, well wishers, curious onlookers, etc. but we seem to have left thanksgiving. Maybe we will grow up enough some day to be able to wish each other well without this deep seated need to stomp on other peoples happiness? Yeah, naive, I know. Feel free to create a wiki thread
  9. Bioware Chess... now with both the white and the black queen "romancable"
  10. Bombs and traps seems like a good rememdy for your party behaving cinematically stupid (i.e. most encounters where the dreaded cut scenes kicks in and places your party in the most indefensible position possible against the players will). If you know it is going to happen, spam an area with traps. Once the game has dragged your entire party into the enemy firing line, just run for it back through your trap line. Once the explosions starts going off, you can shower them with a few bombs too. Mop up survivors at your leasure. I might go back to Haven and try it out in a big fight (optional boss battle) that I skipped there
  11. I was just joking based on the fun dialogue after a mission. I haven't finished the game yet.
  12. Oh come on... they are called darkspawn for petes sake. How much darker can you get? Looking forward to continue my (still the first playthrough) game this weekend. Went to Denerim, to get started on the landsmeet. After several reloads I eventually figured out that there was a fight in there that I wasn't supposed to win. Good thing too, because the odds sure were stacked against me. Saved the princess and got offered half the kingdom.
  13. Canadians Guard Dog, Canadians... Scandinavians are something different (insert generic joke about americans and geography here) Got my economic stimulus package (thats the sp pension from atp for the local danes) courtesy of the danish state. I guess I have to go looking for some danish cheese down in the grocery store in order to stimulate danish economy
  14. More pictures
  15. Start of old thread End of old thread Umm, no pictures. Not enough time for gaming lately
  16. Hey, it's not like they didn't borrow the majority of the magic concept from Warhammer The Warp Fade, Warpstone tokens Lyrium potions, Demons seeking out Psykers mages etc. Ok, so they have one chaos god more than Games Workshop
  17. There is probably a name for people who quote themselves, but who cares It doesn't matter if people have a go at theories with hammer and chisel if necessary, as long as they try to expand out visions.
  18. Fallout The Musical! Featuring Elvis and The Andrews Sisters (or whoever made music in the 50'es)
  19. They are. Not to mention that they are wallowing in oil reserves... Why did you think they paid off Obama with a Nobel prize?
  20. I seriously did wonder why he would bring ancient Chinese religions into the discussion Ah well, languages. Love them or hate them, hard to live without them. Reminds me of my early encounters with English speaking cultures. Being starved for a cup of coffee, I went into a small shop at the side of the road (in London) and asked the girl behind the counter for a cup of coffee. After the seemingly mandatory "How are you?", which native English speakers seems so fond of, she got straight to the point: "Flat white or long black" she asked me. I just stared at her and wondered if my accent was that bad. I tried it again a bit slower... A cup of koh...fee... plees? (note my subtle use of Please to hide my exasperation?). She then proceeded to point to a blackboard on the wall with various names of stuff listed under the heading "Coffee". Seriously, I just wanted a cup of coffee, not a pet dammit. Doesn't need fancy names for it. In the end I went for something that sounded like it might have coffee in it and ordered a "moh...kah...". Yeah right, got me something that was more hot chocolate than coffee You learn as long as you live.
  21. Leliana is actually quite decent if you give her some decent lightweight protection and try to get those two abilities that causes arrows to cause critical hits automatically and the "arrow of slaying" ability. Even better when you get the arrows that disrupts spell casting Of course certain oversized reptiles still wipe the floor with my party, but those I've met so far has been optional and I decided to skip them. Not really playing the game for the combat.
  22. Sorry, just having some bizarre visions of the sudden explosion of neighbour feuds in the suburbs, when they start grabbing bits and pieces of each others gardens, because they haven't been used for a few decades
  23. Indeed... these spam threads are getting tiresome.
  24. Let me guess ? Just kidding, the name seemed familiar
  25. At least it didn't pretend to be anything but spam...
